Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Let's go with Dearly Depotted (A Flower Shop Mystery, #3) by Kate Collins and if the mods tell me it's not white enough then I'll switch.

Dearly Depotted by Kate Collins 4/19/14 ✿✿✿

I discovered this series earlier this year. I'm relatively new to cozies, and I like the characters in this series. In this installment, Abby is at it again, sticking her nose in other people's busisness, something her friend Grace usually tries to talk her out of. This time, Grace needs her help because her boyfriend is in the hot seat, when a man who stole from him turns up dead at Abby's cousin Jillian's wedding.

I liked this book, but not as much as book 2. It's a cute series and I plan on finishing it out til the end.

When the sign-ups started I was battling bronchitis AND a sinus infection ... I could read for 10 minutes and then I'd sleep for 2 hours. Also I have a major project coming up, so I figured I might not have time.

Finally ... I really miss WORDS WITH FRIENDS game. I just liked it better.

I'm starting to feel the same way. I just read Torment yesterday, and I found the main character Luce to be really annoying. If an angel tells you to do something why do you have to be obstinate and do everything but what he says? There was also another love triangle...and lots and lots of whining.

That one looks fun, but too involved for me right now. You'll have to keep us posted on it Sheila and let us know how it goes...maybe I'll try that one next time around.

I finished my book for this week and updated message 48. And now you all have me curious about Words With Friends. I'm going to look at the archives to see what that game was about.

message 67: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Basically WWF was a kind of scavenger hunt game where a word, for example Glasses was called. Each member of the team needed to read a book with the word glasses in it, in the title or on the cover. The catch was though that each members book had to start with a different letter in the word Glasses. Plus I think there was a bonus word to find every week as well. The letters were claimed on a first come basis so you didn't want to check in too late or you would be stuck reading a book starting with "e". A great game.

message 68: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Well team everyone has posted their books for the week so we have the rest of the week off. See you Friday morning.

Finished 4/26 ✿✿✿✿✿

I found this book through a friend that recommended the series and I am so glad I read it. The setting is a rather bleak area in England called a saltmarsh. It was a land known for druids and Stonehenge like areas. The MC is Ruth Galloway who is a professor of forensic archeology at the local university. She gets involved in the case of a missing girl when bones are found on the saltmarsh and a local DCI asks for her to determine if the bones are ancient or more recent.

This was a well told mystery and I can't wait to continue with the series. This may be my first 5 star book of 2014

Review:
A spaceship settles in the sky above the earth. No aliens descend, but their attack begins in wave after wave in knocking out the power, spreading disease, etc. Sixteen-year-old Cassie is one of the few human survivors, and she is alone and trying to survive while dreading what will come next in the fifth wave. This was an excellent alien invasion novel. I sped through it, obviously, because it was so interesting and suspenseful. I highly recommend it for sci-fi lovers.

Review: I like this series. This one wasn't as educational on other belief systems as the previous two but it was still good. Jarret is the main star of this book...and he is as sniveling and annoying as always. I really wish Liz would get over her insecurities in her relationship with Nick. That part of the series I find a little annoying. Overall, good book.

Rating 5 stars!!!
Review LOVED IT!!! Beautifully written story of a young girl who has it all and then has it all taken away from her. The story begins in Mexico, where Esperanza and her mother flee in the middle of the night to escape and live in California. They are no longer wealthy and Esperanza has a hard time dealing with the change.

Sheila (sheilaj) Coming Home (Sophie Anderson, #6) by P.D. Martin Coming Home by P.D. Martin (Sophie Anderson #6)

This is the final book in the Sophie Anderson FBI profiler series. Sophie, who lives and works in LA gets a late night call from her parents begging her to fly home to Australia and help find her brothers killer. Trouble is, her brother was abducted and killed 20 years earlier and Sophie has no jurisdiction in Australia. It has been 20 years since John died but now there have been a series of similar crimes being committed that are eerily similar to her brothers case. This has been an excellent series and I look forward to more books being published although none have been since 2011 so I'm not hopeful. ✿✿✿✿ Finished 5/4

Review:
Lady Alexia Maccon is enjoying her new married life with Lord Maccon. One morning he leaves home unexpectedly and upon arrival in London finds himself turning from wolf to human for no apparent reason. Since Alexia is on the Queen's counsel, she discovers that all supernaturals in the London area have reverted back to their human state and all ghosts in the area have been exorcised. When this "humanizing" phenomenon appears to be moving towards Scotland, it seems more attributable to some kind of weapon. When Alexia hears this and since Lord Maccon is headed in the same direction to visit his old pack, she heads for Scotland as well to find out what this new weapon is and who is behind it.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first. Funny comedy of manners and nice caring relationship between Alexia and Lord Maccon. The ending was a surprise for me. I'm not rushing to read the next book in the series, but I will add it to my TBR list.

Lisa, yes, first names count. I found this in the rules:
"For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok."
