Review: Fabulous, five star read for me. It really tugged on my heart strings with the characters' issues around loss, commitment, and finding your true self. The only reason I don't plan to continue with the series is the fact that the next book deals with Tyler and I didn't care for him at all. But Dylan and Alec were so sweet and their relationship troubles felt so honest despite the setup. River Jaymes captured some of the political struggles within the LGBTQ equality movement really well, and without sounding smarmy or preachy. Well done!

Dead I Well May Be (Michael Forsythe #1) by Adrian McKinty
Dead I Well May Be by Adrian McKinty - 1st book in the series

1 Star 27.04

This story wen on so slow and it was extremely boring. I don't know how I finished it even, it was this boring and its 1st book in a series, which means that I have to read other books as well :( I just can't leave series unfinished. The book takes place in New York and in the beginning nothing much happens, but then they go to Mexico and end up in the jail because of the drugs. There is 4 of them in the beginning, but in the end only one person leaves Mexico to go back to New York...

A great YA paranormal read featuring vampires and ancient prophecies in a well-constructed fast-paced plot filled with action, suspense and a little romance. Add to that a few surprising plot twists and a likable pair of protagonists and you have the perfect recipe for a highly entertaining read that kept me glued to the page from beginning to end.

Review: What a great series! As someone who adores historical mysteries, I ate this one up just like the last one. I like that this book introduced the rest of the justiciars so we could see more of how Stephen and the magic world works, and it was great to see Crane and Stephen cement their feelings for each other. Great mystery, too, with lots of action involving giant rats (!!!) that were so grotesque I had to read parts of the book aloud to my husband so he could join in the skin-crawling fun.

Review:
What begins as a simple historical fiction tale set in an English manor house in 1912 slowly turns into a haunting and more than a little creepy gothic drama. The supernatural elements are used sparingly but effectively in a story that easily drew me in and kept me turning page after page until I finished it in a single sitting. I was quite surprised to see so many bad or indifferent reviews and ratings, as I found the writing beautiful and enjoyed the novel very much.

Review: this was an interesting story that dealt with both autism and adult functional illiteracy. Mattie is a functional illiterate artist who work as an sandwich maker at a diner and supplements his income by tricking.
Simon is a successful author and adopted his nephew, Jamie, a high functioning autistic child whose mother died in childbirth. We start the the prologue three years after Simon and Mattie meet and start a relationship.
there is surprisingly a lot of misunderstanding as the author keeps saying the wrong words and hurting Mattie.
Mattie gets his GED and applies to the New York Arts Institute and when he get accepted with full scholarship he forgoes his dream of attending it to stay with Simon and Jamie. Simon finds out about and forces Mattie to go and become what he always wanted to be.
It ends with Simon and Mattie meeting at a book signing of Simon and finding out that they are both sure that they can be what they are and together and a family.

I didn't like the first book in this series at all and was thinking the second book is not going to be any better, but I was wrong. The story of Michael continues 5 years later, when he is in Spain and gets in trouble. To get out of it he needs to work for British Intelligence. I liked the story and I didn't have any dull moments :)

Review: In this, the third book of the assassin/shifter series, we first get the shifters truly featured when Dakota who we met as mainly a wolf in the second book is more fully revealed as a werewolf and when he gets together with Sam the third of the assassins working for the US Government team known as the Skullcrushers he gains the power to become an Alpha. Dakota not only is gay but also a werewolf is in wolf form when he meets Sam. Sam's truck hit the wolf who was running away from poachers who are hunting Dakota for his wolf skin. there are some humorous (to Sam) remarks about not marking places and situation were Dakota wants to meet Sam in his human form. when they first meet he almost uses his real name Dakota but catches it in time to say Darren. They both travel to Sam's home on an Indian reservation in Washington. The Alpha of Dakota's former pack chase after him and the pack on the reservation ally with Dakota and Sam and two of Sam's fellow assassins. In the climatic battle member of the Denali pack go over to Dakota's side and Sam while trying to protect Dakota is severely wounded and has to be transformed to a werewolf to save his life. We are introduced to four brother who all get introduced to their mates even if some are too young to do anything about it. Sandrine Gasq-Dion is setting up her series wonderfully in this book and it is another good read in this 22 book series.

The book starts with Michael being in South-America and Bridget man find him and he has a choice to make, come help find Bridget daughter or die. This book takes Michael to her hometown and it seems everyone is out to kill him. Overall I liked this series and would read something else from this author :)

Review: Well, despite being highly recommended, I can see how this earned 2-star status. My biggest complaint is that it wasn't long enough to fully flesh out the genetic experiment concept. The story never gets a chance to dive into the history of the Council or what purpose the breeds were supposed to serve. The epilogue hints that future books may deal with this, but I'm not sure I can stomach so much alpha posturing again.

It's been a while since I read the first book, but I found myself getting immersed in the world of Julie Kagawa's wonderful Iron Fey series again with no difficulty at all. Meghan, the half-breed daughter of the Summer King, may have killed the Iron King, but the Iron Fey still pose a great threat. When a conspiracy orchestrated by them leads to a valuable fey artifact being stolen and the courts of Summer and Winter going to war over it, Meghan and her friends find themselves on a new quest, gaining new allies and facing new dangers. The fantastic worldbuilding and strong characters make this another highly enjoyable read, filled with magic, action, adventure and romance. A great series from a very talented author.

Review: I'm going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars for this one. I loved the slow build to the sweet romance, and the historical setting/museum job where the fun characters could all interact. It also had a cool mystery with lots of icky creatures and a bit of magic thrown in for fun. There were times I wanted to get out of Percival's mopey outlook and at the end things felt a bit easy where his father was concerned, but overall I loved this and can't wait to read on.

BookWithin This Skin Within This Skin by Angela Chapman
Rating 4 stars
Review: This book is not what I expected from the limited blurb I saw. It was a good book that with better editing could have been great. I love stories about affirmation of Gay people. Each time I read a story where a character is rejected by a parent or parents and/or commits suicide I feel truly bless to have the family and friends I do. I thank God my family never sent me to one of those conversion camps. I do believe that the more people who know and understand that homosexuality is NOT a choice, the more acceptance there will be and that is the premise of this story. I love me an overly protective mother who champions for all people and not only their kids. I have to say that if the editing was done better I would have this be a five star read. there was a little romance but most of the story was about the family dynamics and that is ok. I live for the day when no one would kill themselves over there sexual orientation and would recommend this book to most people as long as they can get past the wrong word choice using a noun form instead of verbs and on paragraph that was totally garbled.

Review: Lane, a cowboy and ranch foreman, has been in love and lust with Gresh, the son of the ranch owner and a business man in his own right. They finally get together but there are, as in life, complications. Lane is also attracted to Riley, a doctor, and seems to keep meeting up with him. nothing much ever happens even though Riley tries his best and Lane while in love with Gresh is attracted. but even when it Seems to Lane that Gresh Is just going to be using him as a side dish while Marrying a woman he can't cheat on Gresh. The fake engagement is orchestrated by Gresh's father and Gresh knew nothing of it. the ranch hands atypical of what you think of south Texas cowboys have no problem with lane and Gresh being in a relationship and even had a betting pool as to if and when they would get together. Adam, a construction worker on the crew Gresh hires to make cabins for converting the ranch into a dude ranch as well as a working ranch, attacks Lane because he doesn't like homosexuals and it seem like the rest of the county official have more enlightened views then you would think.

The last thing NY homicide cop Eve Dallas needs on her hands is a religious nutcase on a murderous mission. When it turns out all the gruesomely killed victims share a connection to Eve's husband, Roarke, and his longtime friend and current butler Summerset is implicated in the murders, the case quickly becomes personal for Eve as it looks like a particularly dark and cruel part of their past has come back to haunt Roarke and Summerset - and one or both of them might end up either behind bars or next on the list of victims. Fast-paced and filled with action as always, and McNab makes a great addition to the team. Definitely a series one can rely on for great entertainment.
