So happy news, I finished this and discovered there's a 3rd, Yay! I don't know why I love Nicky so much, but I do. And while I want to slap Brandon sometimes for how he treats Nicky, I get it that he's a cop and feels he has to be in the closet. So Nicky and Brandon's story continues, this time they're on Brandon's turf so it's hard for Brandon to relax. There is a crime Brandon is working on and Nicky gets involved. It's just a story but I just love these two and especially their Rope play... The writing is smooth and the secondary characters seem real, I like Brandon's cop partner Jeff and Roberta, the transvestite hooker informant!

Week 3: Roll 5:
Spot 25

Barely Breathing (Breathing, #2) by Rebecca Donovan
Book Choice: Barely Breathing (Book 2, Breathing Series) by Rebecca Donovan.
Read: May 2
Rating & Review: 3.5-stars. This book had the same kind of pain but in a different form. In book one, the family member hurting Emma was her Aunt Carol and by his silence, her Uncle George. In this book, Carol was being hurt by her mother Rachel.

After her ordeal at the hands of her guardians, Emma decided to move back in with her mother because she wanted to "fix us". At the end of book 1, Her mother Rachel seemed to put her alcohol addiction behind her and was holding down a job. She even had a boyfriend now.

But as the book progressed, Emma's mom was still haunted by her demons. Emma continued to enable her by keeping all Rachel's actions a secret AND clean up her messes. Emma had gone to therapy for what happened to her, but I don't really see a sign of true recovery. She does most of the same things in this book.

I don't know that the author's aim was in writing this book, but she could have cut out a lot of stuff. Everyone was still looking out for Emma--and Emma was still Emma. Going through the motions, giving people just enough to keep them close but really giving them nothing.

I didn't feel satisfied after reading this book, but I wasn't pleased enough to rush and continue to book 3 immediately like I felt compelled to immediately read book 2. I don't think there is anything Emma can do to continue to deserve Evan and it would have been better if the author ended this book now with Emma going to Stanford. But I will eventually read book 3 and see if she truly opens herself up.

My nephew did soccer last year and he really liked the running and kicking, but not really the organizational part of it. lol But he's 3 so maybe he'll play when he's older.

Suzanne, Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series. Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors. I adore her.

Sweet Reckoning (The Sweet Trilogy, #3) by Wendy Higgins
Book Choice: Sweet Reckoning (Book 3, The Sweet Trilogy) by Wendy Higgins.
Read: May 4
Rating & Review: 4.5-stars.
A very satisfying ending to this trilogy. Very well done. So refreshing when the author doesn't leave you feeling like crap after the series ends.

This book starts where the last book ended--with Anna Whitt and Kaiden Rowe, working under Balil's instructions to recruit nephilim allies against the Dukes.

The Dukes are suspicious of Anna and her father, so Anna and Kai have to be very careful as the epic confrontation between the Dukes and her offspring Nephilim draws close.

The events leading up to the confrontation were more angsty than the actual event. Anna made me proud. She was strong, in the midst of her fears and she was finally a leader in this one. She took intiative and made really good decision.

I loved Jay and his new role, I was happy that Capone go this HEA and I just enjoyed this series immensely. Way to end this one on a great note!

Book Choice: Cost of Repairs
Cost of Repairs (Cost of Repairs, #1) by A.M. Arthur
Read: May 5
Rating & Review: 3.5 stars. Sam is a beat cop who has relocated to Stratton, PA, a medium sized town. He likes being a beat cop and checks in with all the small stores while he's at work. He starts taking his breaks at a diner, "Dixie's Cup" because he likes the people there, particularly the short order cook, Rei. Rei clearly works hard, juggling jobs and part time assignments, but still seems down on his luck. Most of this book seems pretty realistic, the MCs are realistic and the situations they find themselves in make sense as well. The secondary characters are great and help fill in the story. I really liked Sam although Rei was a little defensive and annoying at first. But after hearing Rei's back story his attitude makes sense. I liked the switch in POV from Sam to Rei about halfway in. The writing is easy to read. But I was never fully invested in these guys and then the crazy shenanigans and plot twist at the end of the book just put me off a bit. And while there is an end to the story, there is more to know about Sam and Rei. There are more books to this series (I think more of their story is told in Book 4 so there are 2 others in between). I'll probably read them, I am interested in what happens to Sky, one of the secondary characters here.

Ha, yes... I like having categories that direct what I read next, and I love the interactions with everyone. Plus it forces me to review the books which is good because otherwise I go back and I can't remember why I rated something the way I did LOL. I rated Tin Star a 1, it was one of the first M/M books I read, and I don't really remember why except that it just seemed too OTT I guess...

Yes. i am doing both. I am on Team One-eyed monster or something like that. And Team Sisterhood of the traveling cocks.

Ha, glad I'm not alone on Tin Star, actually now that I think about it, I think there are entire mornings where they never go out and tend to the ranch or something and that always throws me out of a book, also I think the references to blue eyes killed me. Hmm, maybe I don't need to write reviews!

Last round of bingo, we had a shelf "Cover Blue". I wanted to read Something Like Winter (Seasons, #2) by Jay Bell but I was told NO because it wasn't on the shelf. I was like "you can't get any bluer than that cover" but I still got the NOPE. So I added it and a few other books. They are on the shelf now, so you can use them.

Yep, that's why I am making my cases now. You might want to go through the shelves and make sure you add any book you might want to read. I specifically used my GB list to make sure my books were on there. Once Bingo starts, you can't use newly added books.

I've had this book for a year and finally got around to reading it because Lauren Blakely will be here in June. I am so glad I finally read it. I mean, it may not be a masterpiece or a classic or anything like that, but it was a great, really cute second chance romance. And hot to boot. I immediately started reading the second book in the series and would have continued on to the third if I didn't have other books I needed to read for other things. Hopefully I'll get to read it before the signing next month.
