Given we have a couple of suggestions, I propose that we allow May for suggestions and commence a discussion in June on the book/author that has the most support, with the next 'most popular' in July and so on...
So in this case we have 2 votes for anything by John Maxwell and 1 vote for Mike Myatt's latest book.

I'm interested in either author. Maxwell is a great and informative author but gaining a different perspective is always valuable.

Is this really happening because I am interested. I am just wondering if it is possible to have a discussion on this website when people don't come as often as I think they do. The last few posts were in the beginning of Apr/May. Perhaps if everyone has a google doc or an email that would be more real-time?Also, how long are these discussions going to be a month long per book?

If you would like to start a discussion on any book, you can do so without waiting for the timetable outlined here. Goodreads usually prefers discussions on the website rather than side discussions via Google docs or emails.

Sounds good! I have the book in my collection. I have read the 21 irrefutable laws i will check out what James had to say.
I am a certified coach with the John Maxwell Team, and a Maxwell fan for years. the best place to start with John's writings is The 21 Laws of Leadership. This book houses the whole of John's leadership philosophy. His other works would then take you deeper into specific areas.

Surprised at how much additional good stuff he added. He definitely made some great changes , consolidated some laws, added others and added the test at the back to help you figure out where you might want to focus which I thought was a nice touch.
I've actually been digging deep into "Developing The Leader Within" and surprised this time around how helpful that book probably is to people starting out in leadership. There was stuff I was trying to coach someone on with why they felt like their team was showing up, but it was pulling teeth to do it, and they weren't really producing. Reading when he describes how people often skip the 2nd level(permission) and try to jump to the 3rd level(production) of leadership felt right on the money. Going from Position(level 1) to Production(level 3) and not building permission/relationship(Level 2), which may or may not sound obvious but he puts it really well there.

The title is Leaders First: Six Bold Steps to Sustain Breakthroughs in Construction. It is a business fable set in the construction industry, but the leadership design issues are applicable to all types of organizations and industries. Oh by the way, it won a couple of awards.
