At least these books are not cliffhangers. Each book is connected, but could be read as a standalone...."

Good point! Still I am greedy for another 5 star read. French needs to write more quickly.☻

Jannene | 3124 comments I just finished the Charlie Parker series which is 14 books. Whew! I love that series.

message 303: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Nice, Jannene. Charlie Parker is on my list TBR but not any time soon.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I've finished another orphan. This time is was The Trespasser which is Book 6 in the Dublin Murder Squad. It was a solid 5 stars.

message 305: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Good for you, Janice.

I cannot seem to get to my orphan books to make a dent in them at all. I have one that I need to get to for my Geo Challenge though. I just saw that they released another one in The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. I am two behind now. Gahhh!

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I have to figure out if I can slot it into the Geocache challenge anywhere, or should I say Leftover Stew challenge. I'm almost finished the last one for the all continent's sweep, but I know I won't be able to reach the all site sweep. I'll keep plugging them in though.

Jannene | 3124 comments I just killed the Mythos Academy series which was 6 books.

Thanks. This was sad because it was the end of the series. Dom and i are going to start our orphan Pendergast book that just came out now.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I had to set aside book 7 in the Pendergast Series (The Book of the Dead) in favour of the toppler. I'll be wishing the week away. :)

Ugh. That series is very good!

Ariane | 947 comments I just finished The Infernal Devices series, which makes 7 series killed this year so far!
Janice, this series seems good...

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yay, Ariane - good killing!

I've heard that. I have friends who say that it's a must read.

message 315: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I killed the orphan The Obsidian Chamber by Preston & Child. I was pretty disappointed.

message 316: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2099 comments How was it disappointing, Jannene? I haven't read all of the Pendergast series, but those that I have read I have enjoyed.

message 317: by Susan (last edited Oct 29, 2016 11:23AM) (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments So I did a little binge reading for the Toppler and jumped into the Dorothy Must Die series. It's an interesting take on the Wizard of Oz story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I read Dorothy Must Die, The Wicked Will Rise and Yellow Brick War. Apparently there will also be a 4th book, The End of Oz, coming out in Spring 2017.

Oh no! That doesn't bode well. I'm currently on Book 7. There's some hokey stuff in it that kind of spoils things for me. For example, (view spoiler) That really bugged me. I'm trying to overlook it.

Jannene | 3124 comments Camilla wrote: "How was it disappointing, Jannene? I haven't read all of the Pendergast series, but those that I have read I have enjoyed."

This book concentrates on two of my least favorite characters; Constance and Diogenes. It barely has Pendergast in it or his friend Vincent. It was hard to finish the book.

message 320: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2099 comments Ah, I get it! They are not my favorite characters either.

message 321: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Diogenes survives then. I suspected it wasn't going to be so easy to be rid of him.

message 322: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I finished a sub-series - Diogenes, which is the sub-series of Pendergast.

message 323: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Janice wrote: "Diogenes survives then. I suspected it wasn't going to be so easy to be rid of him."

Ugh, I'm sorry for the spoiler. I didn't think I was revealing anything Janice.

message 324: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments No worries, Jannene. He's listed as a character for the next book in the series, so that was a bit of a hint for me.

message 325: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finished an orphan book for No. 1 Ladie's Detective Agency (#16) and now I have to add #17 to my list for next year.

I completed #6 for the Tomorrow series and am reading the last one for my last Australia Geo task. I am finally going to kill a series that I started last year - soon!

message 326: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I killed the Tomorrow series by John Marsden after finishing book #7 today. I will miss Ellie and her friends.

Jannene | 3124 comments Congrats Cherie!

message 328: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Yeah! I finished another series - The Night Huntress. It's 7 books. I've read all of the short stories as well except for the last one Outtakes from the Grave.

I'll be finished the sub-series, Night Prince, in a couple of days - at least till book 4 comes out in 2017.

message 329: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Congrats Janice!

message 330: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Thanks, Jannene. It was nice to finally finish one. I think I started the first of those 7 books over three or four years ago, when I first visited Australia on my Around the World challenge. I would like to read the follow on series about Ellie, but my library does not carry them in print or ebook.

message 331: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I finished The Night Huntress subseries, The Night Prince. I also read the novella, Outtakes from the Grave. I'm sad to say goodbye to Cat and Bones. Maybe they'll make a reappearance in the final book in The Night Prince book coming out in 2017.

message 332: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I'm still plugging away at Amelia Peabody. I just started book 7, as it came off of hold at my library. I will be adding a new series to my list with Question #10 on the 2017 challenge and reading a book #4 with Question 7. I really should look at the series lists and see if I can apply series books to more of the questions, but I have enough to start with. I think there are more First-in-Series books on the list than what I just posted.

message 333: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finished Amelia Peabody #7 and since it happened to be on the book table at the library, I picked up the latest Stephanie Plum book #23. I was not going to read it, but since it was there....

message 334: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Congrats on finishing Amelia! I thought that I had finished John Puller series and lo and behold they had one come out this year. Sigh.

message 335: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Oh, I did not mean to lead you on, Jannene. I just finished book seven of Amelia Peabody. There are still 12 more to go!

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finished the latest Stephanie Plum book today, so I am caught up with the series again.

message 338: by Jannene (last edited Dec 30, 2016 04:47PM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Congrats Cherie!

I just finished Darby McCormick series...Now I have to read the one that came out this past year. :(

Next year we should have an "orphan" thread. :/

message 339: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I can't believe how many orphan books I am behind on already. They multiply like rabbits! How about "Orphans Are Us". Only Serial Killers will know what it means. Bwahaha!

message 340: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments bump for Cherie.

message 341: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I killed off the John Puller series on the last day of 2016.
