Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments For anyone interested in Emma Kavanagh's After We Fall (titled Falling in the UK): Amazon.com has several used paperback copies under the title Falling for less than a dollar plus $3.99 postage. A steal!

I've just downloaded Taken For Dead the new Graham Masterton novel. Book four of the Kate Maguire series. Downloaded for 19p from Amazon. Not read these yet. Anyone familiar with these books?

message 4756: by [deleted user] (new)

just downloaded that too Janet.

DianeAlice | 142 comments I don't like the updated app, no refresh button and I don't really like Updates being the front page. Still no way to add a link to a book without going on the main website so I'm not really sure in what way it's better.

message 4761: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I haven't tried it yet. Didn't like the first one at all.

message 4762: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments The updates being the first page is what makes it seem like Facebook. Also the "goodreads recommends for you" within the updates is like having an ad mixed in. Ugh.

message 4763: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments I know, it's horrible. Also they've moved the 'newest comments' button to the top of the screen so can't just click it with my thumb anymore. Sounds lazy I know but it's not an improvement to me.

Jean | 2387 comments Kirsten - it amazes me how you find these days! World Rat Day? You dirty rat! How about International Pillow Fight Day! Okay - I'm throwing pillows across the pond at all you folks in the UK and beyond!
Don't use the app on my iPad any more if I can help it, and my phone is just a very basic one, so no apps at all (-:

message 4765: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall hello people :) a quick pop in to say hello am off out for some libations with some of the hockey girls this evening

a fairly quiet day has been had went with maw n paw to upgrade their phones then to a garden centre for seeds for planting then when we came home I took the dog out (and the poor thing thought he was getting a nice wee walk ended up having to do some running :) had to get a quick exercise fix in)

have a cracking day / night catch yall soon

message 4766: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (autumnmemory80) I am not crazy about the new update at all, but finally I have a way to see the newest comment again! My new phone would not let me see the most recent comment and that is why I have been so out of the loop during the day! Finally, I can join the land of the living again!

Kirsten (kmcripn) Here's a question for you: are thrillers right-wing and crime fiction left-wing?

The Guardian wrote a blog on this very topic: http://www.theguardian.com/books/book...

We all had some beautiful crepes

I had banana and caramel, my wife Tracey had Apple and Cinammon, auntie had Caramel and Caramel Ice Cream, my uncle had rum and raisin, my cousin had apple and cream.

So many crepes places in St Malo.

Today in Jersey afternoon cakes tea and coffee at The Poplars Tea Room, then walk.

Sunny but still fresh.

Tonight dinner at The Greenhills Country Hotel.

Tired driving family around everywhere and finding things to do.

Morning all, hope everyone is having a relaxing Easter weekend.

I know I've been quiet here, I just wanted to explain that I have my mum staying with me for a couple of days. I don't see her that much so I want to spend time with her. And the kids are on school holidays for the next two weeks!! *groan*

I'll be back to normal in a day or two and will answer questions etc., then. I haven't jumped ship!! Hehe ;-) Couldn't find the inflatable thingy!!!! :-D

So, Rob, why is Truvia making you dizzy?

message 4784: by Rob (new)

Rob Kaufman (rob_kaufman) | 42 comments That's the question of the day.... why is Truvia making me dizzy? I looked up side effects of Truvia and dizziness is on the list. Who would've thought that a sugar substitute has side effects similar to a prescription drug....?

Well, they're both chemicals...

message 4786: by Rob (new)

Rob Kaufman (rob_kaufman) | 42 comments Kirsten wrote: "Well, they're both chemicals..."

Absolutely right. I guess it was the "all natural" and "from stevia leaf" that made me try it. I'm a marketer and was coaxed by marketing. :(

Lynn Renee | 1708 comments I've been using a Great Value Stevia product from Wal-Mart a friend picked up for me. The following is what I plan on ordering. It looks natural to me, if I am wrong please let me know.

http://www.stevia.com/
1 tsp. SteviaClear™ Liquid Stevia = 1 cup of sugar!
Instead of adding sugar or artificial sweetener to your beverages or food, use STEVIACLEARTM Liquid Stevia all-natural dietary supplement. STEVIACLEARTM Liquid Stevia contains an intensely sweet extract from Stevia leaves that is 250 to 300 times sweeter than sugar - yet has no calories, carbohydrates nor bitter aftertaste. STEVIACLEARTM Liquid Stevia is safe for diabetics and hypoglycemics.

http://www.healthyshopping.com/stores...
Stevia Clear Liquid
Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, add 2 drops to beverage of food. Adjust to preference. Refrigerate after opening to extend freshness.

Ingredients: Purified Water, pure Stevia leaf extract standardized to a minimum of 90% Steviosides including 40% Rebaudioside A, Grapefruit Seed Extract

http://www.healthyshopping.com/stores...
Stevia Concentrate Dark Liquid
tablespoon = 1 cup of brown sugar!
This nutritious Stevia product is a dark thick liquid with a strong, sweet herb flavor. Scientific research indicates that Stevia does not adversely affect blood glucose levels and may be helpful in maintaining proper pancreatic function. It may help reduce hunger and cravings for sweets.

This quality product is made by concentrating nutritious, whole Stevia leaves in pure water by a special cooking process. Contains no alcohol or chemical.

Serving Suggestion: Use direct from dropper or add 3-6 drops to beverages and food according to need and taste. Adjust as needed.

Ingredients: Premium Quality Stevia Leaves (Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni) in Pure Water (4:1 concentrate)

message 4796: by Rob (new)

Rob Kaufman (rob_kaufman) | 42 comments I'm no expert... yet... but I think Stevia is the leaf, the "natural" part of Truvia. I believe Truvia has two other ingredients, one of which can cause side effects. I'm also very "sensitive", so what affects me would probably not affect others. I'm lucky in that way :(

Rob

they could be something in the ingredient that is effecting you and making you dizzy, not sure.

Aspartame effects lots of people, but is man made, Stevie is natural

message 4799: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Sean,

The problem is we are essentially a large bag of chemical, then you add another chemical. So, you mix one mix of chemicals with Stevia, you don't know what could happen.

The thing is to prove that it actually IS the Stevia. It might not be the Stevia. For instance, you could just have a sinus infection. I would suggest eliminating the Stevia and then trying it again after say 30 days and seeing if it happened again.
