No shame in being part vampire, as long as you get to eat good steak then nothing else matters!!

Jenni Boyd | 152 comments Well I was brought up a vegetarian, I didn't have my first taste of meat until I was 18, it was bacon, and suddenly understood the term 'bad, but oh so good'! Man the disasters I cooked when I first got married to a man who ate nothing but meat, nearly got me divorce in my first year, which could have been a good thing, but let's not go down that road. Anyway I hated steak, he like it really well done, I thought it was like chewing the sole of a shoe, but many years later, a lady in her 80's cooked me a steak, and it was like OMG, what sort of meat is this? She cooked it medium rare, not mooing, not blue, and suddenly I loved steak! As for the Biryani, sounds like my kind of dish, can you cook it in the slow cooker, another thing I'm a big fan of. Ter'e we have a show over here called my kitchen rules, it is a competition between people that not just love to cook, but cook things different, I could so see you on this show!

Kath Middleton | 235 comments Good morning. It is here! After our recent discussion I had kidneys on toast for breakfast - and they were a tiny bit rare! Gorgeous. You shouldn't knock something you haven't tried!

I was vegetarian for around 15 years but decided that, as free range and high welfare meat was more readily available, I'd have it. It's more expensive to produce and I wanted to support the farmers who were doing it.

As to eating offal - it actually really is delicious but to me it's a matter of respect. An animal has been killed so it's disrespectful to waste parts of it. I really empathise with the native American ideas of thanking the spirit of an animal when you eat it.

Ooops - I waffle a bit, don't I? ;)

I don't care, our ancestors didn't do a lot of things.... we moved on!!!

It's each to their own, but it's not for me. Don't like the way chefs like their meat, just too pink.

message 4359: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments I like pink, but not raw.

Kath, in order to respect the animal I have decided to send you all my unwanted offal :~)

I wish I had taken a photo of our beautiful steak last night. Just because it is "blue" doesn't mean there is blood.
The desire is to sear that baby as fast as you can. seal in those juices.
That way no one is gagging.......but they are slicing it very thin and salivating as they eat it.

OK!!!!!! Have two families coming to see our house today. It is almost so clean, you could eat off my toilet!!!!!!! I have a couple things to do, last minute, as I do live with dogs and a parrot!!!
No one is saying a word about price. They recognize all the quality love we have put into it.........but everyone is wanting to pay the cheap of the cheapest!!!!! I want to say.......people, you get what you pay for!
One family threw a fit because we did not have three full bathrooms. I wanted to say........well, I will edit..........I wanted to say, Mam, we do have three toilets,!!!!! This was for a family of three, mind you.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..........can we hear a little love and positivity for my house selling today??????? I want to go see my babies!!!!! My body needs to be in Kansas City!!!!! I have people to see and places to go!!!!!
Maybe I should open a Margarita Bar here..........and greet them at my red front door with a frozen drink??????

THINK SELL today, would you?????? Pls?????

L.E. Fraser | 58 comments It is sad that Target couldn't make a go of it in Canada... and my son will be looking for part-time work again (finish your under graduate degree!). But look at this cute kitchen island. What a steal. I will prep meat on it, which I will then cook to medium rare :)

message 4385: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2387 comments Monkey see, monkey do! Lots of picture changing - must be a spring thing! My original picture was from 2008, I think...Yeah, L.E., very unfortunate about Target. They just laid off a ton of folks at their corporate headquarters in Minneapolis too. I know that the online businesses are taking away from the "real life" retailers, but I'm someone who likes to actually see what I'm buying! The virtual sellers do have their place, but I also like to hop in the car and go shopping.

I agree, I also like to see what I'm buying and Target was convenient. I'm stunned they failed as badly as they did. The city is trying to support employees who lost their jobs, but Kellogg's closed in January, after 90 years. >500 jobs lost there and >700 when Heinz closed last year. It's tough out there.

Autumn (autumnmemory80) All your talk of food is making me hungry! I just got home from serving the Prison Ministry and I have not had anything to eat since breakfast this morning and I am so hungry!!! Who wants to cook me something? I will take one of those delicious steaks y'all are talking about, just make mine medium. Thank you!

message 4391: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall on another note think I have finally freed my trapped nerve in my leg - apparently the cure is lots of alcohol lots of jumping up and down at rugby and lots of walking :D nice to have a pain free day (well apart from the remains of the work out pain but that's a good pain lol)

message 4392: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments Ok, my meat is well done. At restaurants, I've been told I have ruined the steak but since I live in SD and can see my meal out in the fields grazing, I cook it.

Sharon, National goof off day. Relax woman!!!!

Sorry to hear about Target. I like their store and that computer hack is killing them.
