You took the words out of my mouth Christine!
It's Sunday morning here, and I was going to cook the usual bacon and eggs, but liver, Kidneys, snails and tripe has put me off!
All the steak talk has made me extremely hungry. The steak has to be rare though. None of this well-done nonsense!
Sharon wrote: "Nothing puts me off bacon and eggs lol"Me either and I especially love Brinner-breakfast for dinner :)
Ok, we're on page 56 of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and haven't gotten to the trial yet. We're shooting for page 112 and then part two starts. I was wrong. This book is great. My sons and I are taking turns reading aloud and it's getting a bit hilarious with our southern accents and the story is really good. My sons and I haven't laughed like this for a while. We're getting used to the southern talk. :D Glad I didn't toss it. We've made a deal to finish it all together and work the questions. At least I'll be able to click this off my TBR list as 'read' and leave a review. :o)

Ter'e wrote: "Please explain what Rice Biryani is...........yum........just the name sounds delish. I would love to try Hindu style cooking."Biryani is a popular Indian dish made using long grain basmati rice and different types of vegetables or meat. It is spicy with a wide array of flavors and amazingly good to eat.
The different types of popular biryani are:
1. Hyderabadi chicken biryani
2. Hyderabadi lamb biryani
3. Hyderabadi vegetable biryani
The secret to a good biryani is to marinate the veggie or meat and then cooking it together with the rice. It is a slow cooking process and a good biryani can take around 2-3 hours to cook perfectly
Jenni, blue is rarer than rare. Technically it should be 1 minute on each side on a very hot grill plate, seal the edges, rest and serve. The less you cook a good steak, the more tender it is. 8:D

Pat,that sounds delicious. :)
Sandy, that's what we call 'still mooing' as for weather, it is one of those days where your not sure if it is going to rain or not, the sun peaks in and out of the clouds, little bit of a breeze, and a comfortable 30deg at the moment.
Jenni wrote: "Sandy, that's what we call 'still mooing' as for weather, it is one of those days where your not sure if it is going to rain or not, the sun peaks in and out of the clouds, little bit of a breeze, ..."For some reason Jenni, I thought you were in Brisbane or Queensland somewhere, but I see you are in Adelaide. We are also having one of those days where the weather is not sure what it wants to do, but at least it is warm! 8:D
Janet wrote: "'Blue' is what I call a good vet bringing it back to life!"My husband says i have to chase it around the plate....nothing wrong with a bit of exercise as you eat! 8:D
David wrote: "Sirloin steak and chips for me please, or a steak & ale pie, or a curry; you can keep your clams and spider legs and every type of offal you care to mention; yuck!"Ah David - you obviously have never tried kidneys slow cooked in a nice red wine jus with mushrooms......served with garlic crostini. A lovely winter dish. 8:D

I was born in Adelaide.
All rightie!!!!!!!I love it that several of you eat your steaks "blue". I do too. When we go out for a good steak........such as Ruth's Chris, I make it clear that I am very picky about my steak. I always forewarn them........cuz I really hate sending it back, but I will.
I love a fast sear, ice cold center. Last nights steak was cooked to perfection. Like Christine, we do not eat alot of meat........we had one nice filet, about 2" thick, and there is still 1/3 of it left.
One thing I absolutely hate........is if we go to a friends house to eat and they are serving steak....I plead for them to let David cook mine. I cannot stand the feel of cooked meat in my mouth. UGH!!!!!
As for Hindu cooking.........I need a cookbook. I know I would love it. I used to watch Anthony Bourdain's shows and my mouth would just salivate.
OK, I looked up a 4 1/2 star recipe on Vegetable Biryani...........my Lord, the ingredients. I better find a good Indian Restaurant and let the experts do the cooking.I have to say.........it sounds totally divine. Oh yes, I could really savor this.
