Once he hit 40, I was afraid to ask! Glad someone else understands.
I still remember when, as a teen, he put on a Speedo in a Dept Store, just to mess with me!!!!! I raised my voice, as it was shaking, and said GET IN THERE AND TAKE THAT OFF. LOL.

Robin,

we have lots of loyal long standing members, and we have a great collection of active new members.

We have a lovely, friendly, supportive group.

In January this year we had just under 40 members.

Have worked hard, but now have one of the fastest growing groups.

Feel awful and soooo fed up ..... grrrr!

•Get enough rest
•Drink warm or very cold fluids to ease throat pain
•Eat smooth foods, such as flavored gelatins, ice cream, or applesauce
•Use a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier in your room
•Gargle with warm salt water
•Suck on lozenges containing benzocaine or other anesthetics
•Take over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Robin | 170 comments Apologies in advance everybody but I'm about to go on a rant. OH MY GOD I can't believe how much paper work you have to fill out when your applying for Cambridge. I swear none of the other universities I've applied to wants me to die of boredom disorder. I imagine I'll do more writing before I actually get to the interview part of the application than the whole time I could potentially spend at Cambridge. I'll need to get the irritation out of my system so I'll probably post this in multiple groups. Apologies once again.

Doing the painkillers, drinking cold fluids, find that helps and I'll try the gargling. Lozenges are probably a good idea too. Feels really swollen and I know my glands are up too.

Thanks, Marian.

Go for it, Robin. Nothing like a good rant! And good luck with your applications.

Janet, have you gotten a strep throat test done yet?

message 2267: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5303 comments Mod
No, will see how it goes over the next couple of days. I suspect it's viral, as I had a cold before but will see. Ears were really aching before, not so bad now.

message 2268: by Marian (new)

Marian | 462 comments Ok..if its viral, then it will just have to past,BUT..if it feels like you have swallowed some needles,go to the Doctors..ok?Do you have a fever?

On and off I can feel my temp rising but then when meds kick in, it's ok, for now.

Saw the following review on Amazon

And I quote:

One star rating

Heard it was a good story but I've not read it yet ....

Yes, very good to know Marian. My daughter is a sophmore at a university pursuing her BS in nursing. She is going to be a registered nurse while she pursues her masters. She is not qualified at this point to offer any medical advice.

LOL Janet! I've seen some 'reviews' but that's got to be the best yet! Loooool

I've just signed up for the 30 day free trial of Kindle unlimited. Does anyone else here use this and what do you think? I know it's a direct debit of £7.99 a month and you can borrow from thousands of titles. Obviously £7.99 is a big saving for me when sometimes I spend £40+ on tons of books. I also try & get books out if the library for free but I am a kindle/nook nut (see I even have 2!!!)

My name is Kim and I am a book addict! I know you all understand me LOL 8-)

I already have Amazon Prime so already set up for me.. Will be interesting to see how many of the popular books become available to borrow or purchase cheaply. So far the only contenders have been books I already have... Typical!! Should be good though, Kimberley, see how it goes for a couple of months.

Just like the 1 star reviews that state "not my cup of tea." Don't rate a book low if it's a genre you don't enjoy! That's not the book's fault!

message 2280: by Lavada (new)

Lavada (kraftyvada) | 436 comments I have amazon prime. I wish kindle unlimited was included

message 2281: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Exactly, Bremda!! But how can one rate a book if they haven't even read it??!! Ridiculous in my opinion. Should I then go rating all the unread books sitting on my Kindle?? I'm sure the authors would LOVE me for doing so!!!

message 2282: by Anne (new)

Anne Smith | 1 comments I have Prime and signed up for unlimited 3 months ago, so far it has been worth the extra money.

Today is Diwali (the festival of light) so tonight the whole of India will be lit up with candles, tealights everywhere. It looks stunning.

So, that said, Happy Diwali to everyone. Hope the year ahead holds much light, good health and happiness for all.

Dawn wrote: "It sounds beautiful Janet!! Have you seen it in person?"

No, sadly. But I have seen tv/film images and there are some satellite pics of the whole country. Here at home we light lots of tealights and put them around the home and let off some fireworks. It's great time for families getting together.

Dawn G | 692 comments I am going to look it up, it sounds too gorgeous not to. I am currently looking for some place to relocate to when I retire. I was originally looking in South America and haven't ruled it out, but lately I have been looking in Europe and North America.

I have ruled out many countries but am still left with ALOT of options. India is not in the running; however, I still would like to see pictures of Diwali.

It is totally worth it if you read and spend a lot a month.

It is a scheme which is rather harsh on authors because authors get paid only if more than 10% of a book is read.... So please read beyond that magic number if you do stop :)

Dawn, looked up your profile. You ARE in North America aren't you?

message 2290: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 146 comments Wow. We live in a very quiet village on the edge of town, and nothing really bad ever happens. About 3 months ago, someone was shot dead in a drive by shooting about 1 mile from my house. Yesterday a road about 2 miles away was cordoned off because of an aggravated burglary with a toy gun involved (that is all we know on that one!). Tonight a road about 1.1/2 miles away is cordoned off because someone has been attacked with a sword! It is all go, here at the moment :s

I should have specified Canada. If I stay in the united states, I will stay on the east coast.

I'm sharing a tip. Am I the last to know????? Do you know, if you give your pumpkin and/ or a little bath in a slight mixture of bleach and water, it will stay hard and fresh for months???? I cannot wait to try this, this afternoon!!!!!

Am I the last to know?????? Hey, in FL, I NEED to know this!

Elaine | 146 comments Our home town has a facebook page called Spotted, and its all anonymous postings, "Should I take her back?", "Why is the guy in the post office such a miserable swine?", "If my neighbours don't stop doing DIY at 1.00 am I will show them what a sledgehammer can do ..>" stuff. We always read it, but make a rule never to post because it is just full of trolls. Anyway, somebody today has asked "is there a wedding photographer who would be happy to do a nude wedding?"

The mind boggles. What time of year are they getting married? What will be the best man do with the rings? Will everyone be nude or just bride and groom? Then again, they will save a fortune on bridal wear :P

message 2297: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) will the photographer have to be nude too? how about grandma?

message 2298: by Elaine (new)
