I don't mean this to sound tacky, but will they stream the funeral? I live in CA and many recent funerals have been streamed because only 10 people can actually attend which is usually only immediate family. If it is, you would at least be able to experience it.

I really am sorry for your loss.

Jersey getting worse every day, so with sadness I believe it is correct not to go to the funeral.

Not online.

Jersey has been confirmed as the highest rate in the UK

The R rate is above 2 !

Working from home from today, all pubs , hotels, cafes are closed.

So staying at home.

Kandice | 2061 comments I am in San Diego and we have a curfew 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. and all non-essential businesses are to close, dining will be take out only. I think if we don't push hard for these restrictions right now, especially in the days leading up to vaccine availability, it may be too late. We aren't going to be able to turn these numbers around until they've run their deadly course.

Our hospitals are at 85% capacity and we haven't experienced the flood from Thanksgiving yet.

Want to see some lovely scenes of the lovely island of Jersey., where I live.

The Real Housewives of Jersey, 10 parts, it does show off the island of Jersey very well, edited very well.

Shows the houses beautiful, but the 7 woman in the series are not really the real housewives, and are quite nasty to each other.

Know some of them by reputation.

But makes good TV.

Any questions I can help you with, including the houses they are at and live.

The Atlantic Hotel, is in episode 10, I worked there in 1978/79

PS

Spoke to Peter James yesterday, who lives 100 yards away from me.

He stopped and chatted from a distance when he was out running.

he is happy to do a chat for the group, just have to wait till I can go around to his house and speak to him.

I have played on his tennis court, with the previous owners.

Thomas (tom471) | 1333 comments Liz and I sent our DNA to 23andme.com We have 2 grandchildren with a terminal, incurable genetic disease-Cystic Fibrosis. We wanted to know which of us carries the CF gene. It turns out that I am the gene carrier. We also tested negative for the BRCA1 and 2 genes(ovarian/breast/prostate cancer). Three ancestral family members died of ovarian cancer.
Since then I watched a NOVA episode on consumer genetic testing. A woman was interviewed who sent her DNA to 23andme for testing. She tested negative for BRCA genes. She was then diagnosed with Breast cancer. It seems that 23andme only tests for 3 variants. Her doctor had her DNA tested at a medical lab. It tested 80,000 BRCAS variants vs 3 at 23andme. She had a positive test for another BRCA variant.
To its credit, 23andme set up an interview with a reporter for the program. They explained their their website states that don't test for all variants of genetic diseases. When asked about the fact that they pair DNA results with research questions answered by clients, and sell it to GlaxoSmithKiline, they showed a screen shot advising participants that they can refuse permission for research sharing.
To its discredit, Ancestry.com refused all questions from the show's reporter.
If you are contemplating such a test, I strongly recommend watching this show so that you can make an informed decision.
For us, if our DNA and answering questions contributes to a cure for CF or any genetic disease, then we are happy to share it.
The CF gene that I and my grandchildren share is the most common CF gene. 23andme evidently only tests for the most common genetic disease genes.
There is a book "Salt in My Soul"published by the mother of a CF patient after her daughter died, which gives some insight into what it is like to have CF. My review https://www.amazon.com/.../ref=cm_cr_......

Today I celebrate a work anniversary.

25 years at the RBC (ROYAL BANK OF CANADA)

I do have a gold watch at work.

But not allowed on our main premises...COVID

Working in the massive warehouse doing archive work and moving boxes for 7 1/2 hours a day.

Retiring soon, waiting for my vaccine, then a few weeks later will retire, not sure exactly yet.

La Tonya Jordan | 55 comments In the virtual silent book club everyone brings their own book or E-reader and reads together quietly for an hour, then we all nerd out about books afterward.

We kick off the meeting with a quick round of introductions where everyone says their name and a little about what they're reading. We love hearing about what people are reading (often in their other book clubs).

If you think you maybe interested in the virtual silent book club follow this thread below for the next scheduled date:

Last week in a large warehouse in freezing temperatures was not fun, never went over 1 c mostly -1c.

Thermal underwear I was freezing all day, not good being on blood thinners !!

A tough week.

Just lasting for a month or two the most.

I am having my vaccine on Tuesday afternoon as is my wife.

How many members have had it...

Plus working on my wife's computer at the moment, mine in for repair, well I hope it can be repaired.

So might be on a little less for a few days.

I also have been quite diligent following the guidelines. My cats BEG me to leave the house once in a while. ;)

Everyone, regardless of having shots...PLEASE PLEASE follow guidelines. We are not out of this yet no matter where you live. You owe it to your friends, family and community.

we also had are first big snow since 2016. Brrrrrrr.

Steven Tyler | 10 comments Gretchen and Janet. I had a forced retirement last year do to Covid and a downturn in business, so I decided to clean up all those "to be read" books on my bookshelves this year and read 100 books. It's been slow going mostly because I found on-line gaming (not gambling) and spend hours and hours playing game after game. I'm gaming as I write this. Also, the joy of reading has lost some luster for me and; hopefully, I'll get that joy back.

Hopefully you will, Steven. My son games a lot too. He's only 16 but sometimes he has little time for anything else. He knows he has to focus on his 'A' Levels too. I'm sorry about your business but hope that you're ok and can enjoy your retirement. I'm hoping that reading mojo will return. I've developed a skill for boxsetting!!

I always supported Harry, who did so much for Diana's charities.

But Meghan Markle is an actress and knew exactly what she was doing.

I do not believe all the rubbish.

I feel sorry for the Queen, and Phillip in hospital and the whole family.

As pointed out my some experts, they changed the stories, the timing.

Have watched loads since and spoken to many people.

I believe this has done Harry no good at all and has made it harder to be close to the family again.

A private affair, that they made public.

Oprah an intelligent woman who asked certain questions very carefully with no questions why none of her family want to know her.

sad....

I hate Piers Morgan, loud and aggressive and rude.

BUT

Over the last 2-3 days he was right with his comments, just went about the wrong way and now off the TV.

To rude to guests, to loud, interupted everyone.

My thoughts only, everyone has those thoughts I am sure
