Welcome back Dawn. Life can interfere with our *want-to-do's* but glad to have you back any time, and any way, and hope your family member feels better.Freda - Brenda is right. We will always be here and I'm sure we will all be a bit absent with summer. And, I'm fine with a "car poll"!

lol, Pat!
Dang it. I took a little tumble outside work tonight, sprained my foot, cut my knee so deep I am afraid that it might need stitches (but I have never had them so I have no clue), and am limping around everywhere. Thank goodness I got all the blood out of my khakis!
Dang Autumn! Sorry about your fall. You'll probably feel it all over tomorrow. Going to the emergency room to get patched up?Remember sprain -RICE rest, ice, compression, elevation. Wrap it up and prop it up. Your skin on your knee is pretty tough, butterfly it together and don't bend it. Might get you through the next couple days till it starts to mend itself. Good luck with getting fixed up.

Thank you so much! I bandaged up my knee as best as possible, and need to wrap my foot. Someone said, "Sorry to hear about your fall!" I said, "Eh. Life! Just another story to tell!" When you are clumsy you learn to just let things go!
Life is so much easier when you're a little tough. My 80 pound dog has jerked me off my feet several times. The worst was, we were at the park and he was on a 20 foot leash so he could run around. We stopped to chat with a kid throwing a ball to his dog, then we left. As we walked away the kid threw the ball for my dog, but about 30 feet. When he got to the end of his leash he kept going, and I was jerked clean out of my flip flops. Airborne for about 5 feet and dragged another 5. Sunglasses and headphones flying. I was embarrassed but just got up and said "whoa!" as I brushed myself off, and said "thanks for the ball" as I limped away.

Hahaha, sorry to laugh, but I can just picture it. Especially since it sounds like something that would happen to me!
E, don't you know that flip-flops are dangerous:-) Autumn, keep an eye on your knee for any signs of infection. Hope you're feeling better today. It's a good sign that you can laugh!
May 1st and colder now than two weeks ago !!
Played my first external league last night, outside.
Wednesday 3 sets of mens doubles on a private court, last night we played external league, where our team Casearean A team beat the B team, 7 sets to 1.
So 7 sets of tennis in two nights. First time this year, two days running.
Off work next week and booked for tennis, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Looking forward to nine days off in a row.

Hi all,For those of you who have thought I may have been down right RUDE to them........please know it isn't so.
Between feeling half dead for two months.......listing our house........trying to keep up with cleanings and showings.......while still staggering around........I want to say, we finally have a good contract on our house.
PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!
Closing will be prior to 6/30........prolly closer to 6/15...........and we will be on our way to KC, MO. We will camp out at our daughters.......and find a house QUICKLY!!!!!
This, I can deal with. The last 3 mos have been pretty close to hell!!!!!
I can see the light!!!!!!!!! I have to say.....I feel half dead. Exhausted from the process..........but so very thankful, now.

Christine - pros and cons done and they look about the same LOL I can't win! Pat - You're so funny. What is it with you and polls. :)
Autumn - Oh my, so sorry you took a tumble. My mother always said to me "Did you crack the floor? No? Then you'll be okay". Sure mom, thanks. *limping away*
E. Love that story. It's similar to mine, only with squirrels. Mazie wants to play? *kerplunk* Sure Mazie, kill me in the process. :D
Jean - Any shoes are dangerous. LOL
Sean - Enjoy your nine days off! Wooo hooo! What are the plans?
Ter'e - Would rather see you venting here and getting support from us than worrying about your potty mouth. Hope things settle down soon for you! My sister lived in KC, MO for a few years. She's in AZ now caring for our mother. Don't worry, I get a slight potty mouth when I'm tired and I'm tired a lot. LOL Hang in there!
Thanks Freda..........what infuriated me the most was the realtors making an appt for a showing........and then no show.....no call.........no nuthin.I'm one of those people who scour everything and steam clean the floors.
Lord, help me.
E.........bless your little heart!!!!! I had to laugh, tho I knew it was not funny.
My sister in law went theu this and spent a couple of months, totally laid up!!!! What a great sport you are.........and a tough broad, to boot!!!!!
A couple of weeks ago we were in a park that has paved trails that wind about 20 miles through trees and fields. We were just walking along...la la la...when three bunnies ran onto the path and stopped. The whole world stopped for about 5 seconds, then the chase was on! I crouched a little to get leverage, prepared for the inevitable. He pulled me on the pavement about 7-8 feet. Like I was water skiing Good times!
E, sounds like you have a hunting dog. What kind is he?Ter'e!!!YAY!!!!Freda, I've heard of car pooling but not car polling! Are they all equal in Consumer Reports? I drive a 1998 Honda CRV, so I don't know anything about newer models...
Sean, do you play on grass courts, or is it only Wimbledon that has grass?
Thanks to everyone for the welcome back! Yes Pat, I do have a tendency to let life get in the way.Ter'e, congrats on the house and I hope you are continue to feel better.
Wow Autumn, that must have been an awful fall. You take care of yourself! Me, I would have broken a bone or something.
Freda, tell us the three vehicles you are considering. I'm sure we would love to give you some feedback.

My kind of girl!!!!!Take a peek at my foster sister, Susan, in CA.
Google Hollys Garden Rescue. Sue is in El Cajon...........and she fosters hundreds of dogs.
She is a saint!!!!!! Plus, I love her a lot. Thank God I do not live close to her!!!

Hmmm, Fords are tough! Even though the Dodge is the latest SUV on the list, I think I'd cross it off and go with the Ford ro Chevy. Even though I like Fords, if all things are equal I think I would go with the Chevy.
Freda, You probably already know if they are northern or southern cars. The rust factor of northern cars can be bad.
Ter'e
I don't blame you if you had sworn !!
Happy everything is going well, and hope goes through fine, my friend

hellooooooooooooit seems to have been all go between pavements causing serious bodily harm and dog sledding without the sleds; car buying decisions that are way too confusing for me cos we don't have those makes across here none of which crossed the line before the house which has finally sold woohoo
work has been manic - the senior administrator has been off and I have had to pick up a lot of the slack plus I seem to have ended up with extra work of my own which has meant that I barely have time to lift my head at work and when I get home I am going to crossfit and then when I get done with that I have bee collapsing into a chair or going to bed and avoiding the laptop. we have a long weekend this weekend so hopefully I will get caught up on here and getting my book reviews done and finishing some reading that seems to have taken me ages to do!!
I will shut up for now x
Happy May Day, Sharon! Glad to hear that your time away was not due to illness, injury, or loss of a loved one, just being overworked, which is bad enough! Now you have a chance to rest up, so don't hurt yourself while doing those workouts or typing up your reviews!
happy may day jean yeah no injuries or illness or such glad to say. enjoying my rest day from exercise cos ive really pushed hard this week and looking forward to catching up on stuff

Ter'e so glad to hear about the house sale, an perhaps with that stress behind you, you will start to feel better, just keep telling yourself it won't be long now and you'll be closer to your babies, I so envy you, I hate living so far away from my two!
Holy cow, look at all the conversations I missed! But it all looks like good news.Sean, enjoy the vacation!
Congrats, Ter'e!
Freda, all things being equal, why not the newer 2006 vehicle?
E., love the dog stories!
Sharon, I don't know how you do it all.
Did I miss any one? lol
Sharon, so glad to have you back! Will the workload go back to normal next week? Hope you have been able to escape a bit into your books during this tough time. So great for you to have a long weekend to recover. Enjoy it!

Autumn sorry to hear you have been in the wars. If you can get some PawPaw ointment, it is wonderful stuff for cuts, scrapes, etc, and burns once the heat has gone out of them. Heals things up fast and prevents infection. Hope you are all better soon. 8:D
Autumn - ouch. Take care with the knee and ankle.Sean - enjoy some rest
Congrats Ter'e and I'm not offended by swearing and never thought you were rude.
E. - enjoying the dog vs woman stories
Freda - one word Ford!
Sharon - enjoy your long weekend
Speaking of me and polls - thanks FredaHave any of you posted a negative review on Netgalley?
I'm reading one that started out OK but the author seems to have lost track of the murder mystery and wondered into another story entirely.
Talk amongst yourselves and give me your votes!!!
I dnf'ed a Net Galley book. I did not want to give it a 1 star after reading only 20% of it, but wrote the publishers with why I dnf'ed it so I could get feedback credit. If I had finished it and still thought it was one star quality, I would have reviewed and rated it, no problem. Zi vote you give your honest review. I have seen one star Net Galley reviews by others.
Lynn wrote: "Freda, You probably already know if they are northern or southern cars. The rust factor of northern cars can be bad."I don't know, Lynn. It used to be that way in the 80s and maybe early 90s, but our two cars, which are 1997 RAV 4 and 1998 Honda CRV are rust free. We don't see any rust here (Minnesota) anymore except in super old cars. Freda, go with your gut. If no gut feeling, go with whichever looks the coolest, if that doesn't work, go with the cheapest.
Yes, I told them exactly what I've thought even if I haven't finished. I'd rather just be honest in an objective way. Still counts as feedback. Publishers are realistic enough to know that not everyone is going to love their books.

Dawnie, if Fords are tough and you really like them, why would you go with a Chevy?
Thank you for all the well wishes, and yes, for those concerned, the concrete decorative square is still in one piece and lives to torture me another day!
Yes Pat, I have given 2 negative reviews on Netgalley, and one other that I didn't review, just gave it 0ne star and in the comments to the publishers explained why. They do say they want honest feedback.....8:D
Yes, Pat I have given low ratings 1 or 2 when the book stalled, or I had a problem with, but with feedback to the publisher. I remember soon after I joined Goodreads, I won a book, and posted a rating of 3 with a decent review, I liked it but it wasn't anything special or outstanding. In this case I went ahead and copied and pasted my review on Amazon.com. The author emailed me and asked me to please remove my review off Amazon, as it would ruin his sales. I will never forget this ...I was shocked. Because I was pissed off with the author for asking me, I deleted my review off Amazon, and will never deal with this author again.
Sue, I wouldn't have removed the review. Some audacity of the author to ask that of you. Honestly I probably would have noted at the bottom of the review that the author made the request.
