Mr. Bennet's Library 101+ Books

You mean you need a National Rationalization Day to do that..."
I have no book budget. I have been really good at not spending money but I won't argue with NR day! Not me.

LOL, Talia! I like how you think."
You are welcome to celebrate this grand holiday with me. The more the merrier.

Me too. Why did we not know of it before? Other good news, 2 of the books I gave a free kindle version with purchase.

I got through a couple more books:
Re-Read His Good Opinion: A Mr. Darcy Novel - 3.5 Stars
16. Loving Miss Darcy - 4 Stars
17. Against His Will - 4 Stars
Currently taking a break on JAFF. I am not sure what I will read next actually but I am going to wait until my book budget resets in March to decide :) I missed out on National Rationalization Day haha.
You binged on the whole trio. Neatly done, Shannon. I still need to read the last one.
Enjoy your book break with a good one. At least your new budget month starts soon.

Now that is the stamp of approval. :) I haven't read any by this author either. So many...sigh. ;)

Exactly, Ceri!
A few years ago I was able to keep up with the new JAFF authors and books, but now its impossible.

I've read most of them. For whatever it's worth, my favorites are Poor Mr. Darcy: A Pride & Prejudice Novella , The Scandalous Stepmother: A Pride & Prejudice Variation Novella, and Pride & Prejudice Villains Revisited - Redeemed - Reimagined: A Collection of Six Short Stories
I just grabbed The Inconsistency of Caroline Bingley and Anne de Bourgh Manages with Kindle Unlimited, which are short stories of hers I haven't read yet.

That one's great, too. I'd given that one 5-minus stars instead of 5 or 5-plus!

36. Apprehension And Desire: A Tale Of Pride And Prejudice - 2 stars
37. Steady to His Purpose: A Variation of Pride and Prejudice - 3 stars
38. The Last Waltz: . . . another pride and prejudice journey of love - 4 stars
39. Rumour and Reprisal - 2 stars
40. Snow Storms & Kissing Games - 2 stars
41. Expecting His Proposal: A Darcy and Elizabeth Short Story - 3 stars
42. A Pemberley Bride - 3 stars
43. Entanglements of Honor: A Pride & Prejudice Variation - 4 stars
44. To Conquer Mr. Darcy - 4 stars
45. Obsession: A Pride and Prejudice Variation - 4 stars

That's quite the pile, Eliza! Way to go!
Just so you know, re-reads can count as long as they are the first time through this year. :)

I've been debating whether I should add a shelf to track them, but I'm trying to encourage myself to read new stuff. I'm an obsessive re-reader. ;-)
Talia wrote: "I read Heiress to Longbourn last night. I really liked it. The Lydia storyline was wonderful to me. She stayed true to JAFF characterizations. It was a fun and short read."
Oo, I'm curious about this one. It might be next. :-)

You can read it in an hour. It is short but worth it.

Oops, I linked Ardently twice. That third one should have been [book:Suddenly Mrs. Darcy|25273436] .

11. A Respectable Man: A Pride and Prejudice Variation - Rated 2.5 Stars ☆☆☆
The premise of this variation is actually quite unique and intriguing. Unfortunately, the execution was disappointing. Desperately needs a good editor! The point of view transitioned between characters in a sporadic and clumsy sort of way. I also had the annoying feeling that parts were missing. I could not tell if this was an editing issue or if entire events were just skipped and then referenced to later to suit. Was the author protecting our sensibilities by eluding to certain events? If so, it did not work - just left me confused. If we are to understand why this Elizabeth is not JA's vibrant Elizabeth, we need to experience some of those glossed over scenes. Due to this, I was left wondering what Mr. Darcy saw in her besides a pair of fine eyes. Were we to assume that scenes from original canon still transpired and fueled his admiration? I digress... A good editor and/or re-writes by the author would help the flow and storyline tremendously. Moreover, the ending left me unsatisfied. This variation has great potential, but needs work!
I rounded my rating of 2.5 up instead of down star-wise because despite the above, I enjoyed the story and recognize how great this variation could have been.

The cover has raised letters, there are flowers on the page edges when shut, charming illustrations, and even a fold out middle. That is a lot of special for under $18.

It was on my wish list for awhile and I am glad I didn't let it pass me by. It is very impressive.
The other P & P I got was this one just for the cover:

I know the feeling. Book space is something we always run out of. I only buy books that I will read over and over again. These two are keepers. The Colin Firth cover makes me laugh.

My husband talked me into that one. He said it would look good next to my Darcy bust.

So not a fan of serials in general then, your mom. It is ok. We get it.

Oh, he bought it for me as a present. He also grows Darcy sideburns for me. Oh yes.

You just need to explain the benefits of encouraging your interests to him.

I love the lock up your daughters. It is like the Rolling Stones articles from the '60s.

He worries that I read too much and exercise too little, despite the fact that he can sit and watch TV for hours on end. When I talked to my doctor about my frustration of being more absent-minded now that I'm getting older, she encouraged me to read as much as I can because it helps keep the mind engaged far better than watching TV. HAH! Take THAT, couch potato husband!!
Besides which, I've let him know that sometimes the more amorous book scenes often "inspire" me in ways that he appreciates. ;-)

I am smirking at that comment - well, at least that is one form of exercise. How many calories does that burn? I know I read it somewhere.

Yo..."
I use www.myfitnesspal.com to help me maintain my weight, and it tracks calories burned for different activities. For example, you can burn 44 calories washing dishes for 15 minutes. Anyone who's fighting the battle of the bulge, it's a great web site. Has helped me to weigh considerably less than I did 15 years ago.
Sadly, it doesn't include my favorite activity, so I can't answer your specific question. From my research, apparently it depends upon how much enthusiasm one enters into the activity with. Being a proper Regency wife and just lifting your skirt while laying still won't burn many calories.

You mean you need a National Rationalization Day to do that? I've done that way too many times and then wonder why my book budget is shot to hell at the end of the month!
