I loved this one of Mary: http://smile.amazon.com/Companion-His...

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments I really enjoyed Stan Hurd's book about Colonel Fitzwilliam.

message 104: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Nice, Susan! It’s great to see someone focusing on stories outside the usual—and I’m glad more authors are doing so.

If you like paranormal at all, I had fun with Mary Bennet and the Bloomsbury Coven; and of course, Stan Hurd is one of the best Austenesque writers, so you can’t go wrong with Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Countess of Sainte Toulours. Or even go further afield, trying one of the stories based on The Watsons or Sanditon!

I have the Stan Hurd one to read, I have liked his other books so I am looking forward to reading it. I read the Mary Bennet book last year and enjoyed it.
I have read Emma and Elizabeth by Ann Mychal and will probably buy Brinshore soon as I have read some great reviews of it.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Jennifer Joy Colonel Fitzwilliam's Challenge: A Pride & Prejudice Variation, Stanley Hurd Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Countess of Sainte Toulours, Victoria Kincaid Pride and Proposals: A Pride and Prejudice Variation and Regina Jeffers The Prosecution of Mr. Darcy's Cousin: A Pride and Prejudice Mystery all wrote fairly recent ones about the Colonel but the one to beat all is Joana Starnes' The Unthinkable Triangle The Unthinkable Triangle: A Pride and Prejudice Variation. I wrote reviews of all.

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments Sheila has listed wonderful choices here... If you're looking for a triangle that has a strong focus on CF, "Darcy's Denial" is a great companion read to Joana's "The Unthinkable Triangle," because they're so different , yet both are well written.

The sequel to "Darcy's Denial" is coming outstanding the end of this month, and the cover reveal is happening next week on my blog. I am beyond excited for it!

message 108: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I have been waiting for that one to come out. Do you know the title?

message 109: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments "Darcy's Deliverance" is the title. The cover revel will be T the end of this week and then the book will release the last weekend in January, is all goes well. I'll have a review and giveaways on my blog right away. The cover is gorgeous, energetic and fresh... Carolyn is such a hard worker! She set that deadline and boy, did she write away!! I can't wait to read it. I hope it's a great ride... I really hope you enjoy it too!!

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments Great!! What are you reading now?

message 113: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Actually I am trying to finish A Breath of Snow and Ashes, book 6 in the Outlander series. I got about 1/2 way before Christmas and one of my resolutions is to finish various books I started but did not finish. I also went to see Mocking Jay Part 2 with a friend earlier today. And I want to read the two chapters you posted on your blog.

message 114: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments It's so funny, but you seemed a bit quiet on the JAFF front. Of course, that's because you read so much, any pause is felt... Lol!

I have to get into Outlander. I bought it when you recommended it on sale. That's a great reading resolution to finish unfinished books.

How was the movie? I loved the books, we read them as a family a while back... I haven't finished the movies yet.

I hope you enjoy the next few books. I will review Elizabeth:Mistress of Pemberley soon... Haunting, thoughtful, still processing it...

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I have been to the doctor a bit lately: on Friday had to see her b/c my right hand has some sort of painful injury...had x-ray, no results yet but was in lots of pain and avoided being on the computer as even typing hurt. Cancelled babysitting for tomorrow. The little typing I did was left handed and much slower than normal.

Loved the movie but was in tears at times. Some parts are different from the books...no use of granddaughter to get at President Sno (?) - not remembering how to spell his name.

The first three Outlander books are the best so far. I have gone back and re-read parts of three over and over again plus I have an Outlander Pinterest Board.

Congrats on being so far along, Susan!

I thought Dearest Friends by Pamela Lynne had an interesting take on all the P&P folks and Mary's role is more prevalent than usual. The Unexpected Miss Bennet was a sweet story with Mary as the heroine. I like Jennifer Becton's books and she wrote a novella with Mary Bennet as the heroine.
There is Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Countess of Sainte-Toulours by Stan Hurd, Darcy & Fitzwilliam by Karen Wasylowski, and Colonel Fitzwilliam's Correspondence by DW Wilkens . I haven't read a ton of the others featuring Col. Fitz or Mary Bennet, but if you search using their names several pop up.

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments I'm sorry about your hand. I hope you feel better and find out what's bothering you. Keep me posted.

I thought HG was such a great series , in part because it reminded me of our 13 colonies and of course, the battles of power people constantly engage in. Inequity, fame, love... I hate who she winds up with... I'm a Team Gale girl... All... The.. Way!! That kiss that President Snow sees... Intense stuff... It all started for her because of Prim and then by the end, I felt so empty... But I loved the journey!!

I have to check out your Outlander board. So many people love it. I bought season one on Black Friday, but then I tell myself to read the books first... Sigh... Wonderful problems to have!!

message 118: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I know you will love that story. Jamie is so loyal, so true to all he loves and he takes such punishment. The first time he looks into Clair's eyes is pure...sigh...and she is just bandaging him up. The wedding night episode is ...do treat yourself soon.

message 119: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments Thanks for the encouragement!

message 120: by Debbie (last edited Jan 11, 2016 06:20PM) (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Hi, Mr. Bennet group. I'm moving along with the challenge - already up to 9 books this new year. I am trying to be very conscientious about posting reviews, especially since most of the books I've picked up have been relatively new.

Secrets Revealed by Linda Blanchette Darcy and the Twins by Don H. Miller Trouble With The Earl by Olivia Kane Jane Austen Lives Again by Jane Odiwe Dearest, Loveliest Elizabeth Pride and Prejudice Continues by P.O. Dixon The Shepherdess Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice variation by Amanda Foleigh Living Austen by Nancy Saylor One More Chance by Ola Wegner Pride & Prejudice Villains Revisited - Redeemed - Reimagined A Collection of Six Short Stories by Renata McMann

So far, I'd put James Austen Lives Again at the top to re-read.

message 121: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments I hope you read Elizabeth:Mistress of Pemberley because I need to talk about it some more and I think you'd appreciate it...

message 122: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments It's on my TBR list - I'm sure I'll get to it. I'm still working through the books I already have loaded on my kindle!

You are off to the races, Debbie.

I have heard fantastic things about Jane Austen Lives Again. I'll have to check out your thoughts on these. I've got a couple of them already on my pile.

message 124: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments I will lend it to anyone who wants to borrow it. It's such a different take on the Darcy's marriage... Hard to put all my thoughts into words but I think anyone who reads a lot of JAFF will be in for a unique read. The Amazon sample is pretty long, so if someone doesn't enjoy the sample, the book probably isn't their cup of tea...

Mary | 452 comments RIP Alan Rickman.
Such a great actor, loved him in Sense and Sensibility. His voice was really something special and got to me every time.

message 128: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Indeed. I'd actually forgotten how many other great roles he played in movies I'd seen until reading today's articles about him. He was a special actor, that's for sure.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments OK, so in an effort to support the author I will buy it....if I find it is indeed a good book. I am not one who would usually buy a book with dragons in this genre. I will know very quickly if I like it. I will also read the reviews.

I look forward to reading it. Just went to the Amazon link. Between the cover and the blurb, I can tell that this will be humorous. :)

Ceri | 224 comments I am sure I picked it up a while ago. The reviews are really good.

message 138: by Talia (new)

Talia (kneyda) | 217 comments I reread Mr. Darcy's Refuge: A Pride & Prejudice Variation which has my favorite Jane variation, Mr. Darcy’s Noble Connections which was very good, and Mr. Darcy's Undoing: hubba-hubba. :)

message 139: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 224 comments Abigail Reynolds' books are always good for a reread! I try not to reread but sometimes I can't help it :)

Really? I love Undoing and Refuge in that order. :) Undoing is too hot to handle.

message 144: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments Oh, I must read Undoing... Refuge was pretty intense... Love those scenes near the end... ;)!

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I got out Refuge and re-read about 1/2 the book last night.

Talia (kneyda) | 217 comments I read No Cause to Repine: A Pride and Prejudice Variation again today. I love this book. I think a lot of people here would enjoy it. It is clean so no naughty scenes in this one.

I also read the new Crais novel. Definitely, not JAFF.
