Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments Report your successes and scores here. Here are the rules again for your convenience:

April holds a very special holiday – Library Snapshot Day! It’s an opportunity for libraries to provide a snapshot of statistical data of what happens in their library on April 1. This is not an April fool’s joke either!

We are going to host YLTO’s version of the holiday... with a twist, or two. For one thing, we are going to celebrate all month long and not just one day.

Here’s the challenge:

You must read a book that has been borrowed from the library. This library may be a public, school, church, or hospital one. If you do not have a library in your area (and ONLY if you do not have a library in your area), you may borrow a book from a friend, family, neighbour, or enemy who has a home library. For this definition, a home library must consist of at least one bookshelf.

The book you read must be about a library, a librarian, or books.

Here comes the twist.... we want snapshots of the library from which you borrow your book, even if it’s a home library. It’s not mandatory, but significant points will be awarded for pictures, and the glue stick award will not apply if you do not post pictures!

General Rules:

1. The book may be in any format - paperback, ebook, audiobook.
2. The book may be in any genre.
3. The book may NOT be combined with the Year Long Chunkster Challenge.
4. The book must be read between April 1 to April 30, 2014 (based on your own time zone).
5. The challenge is for one book. You may read more books if you chose, but only the highest scoring book will apply.
6. The book must be 150 pages or more determined by the issue you read. If reading eBook or audiobook page numbers will be determined by the issue that comes up on a Goodreads search.

Here are some links to help you find books to fit the challenge:

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I love the quilts hanging in your library, Kim! What a great combination - quilts and books. It's even better when you cuddle under a quilt with a book to read.

I take it you haven't finished the book? When you finish, please post again and confirm your score. It may change.

message 10: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments Kim wrote: "Not finished yet Janice. Just holding my space, and I wanted to try the picture posting to see if I could get it figured out. I will update that post when I finish. :0) Should I have waited until I..."

Yes, the idea is to report your success when you finish reading your book. When you finish, please do a new post directing me back to your updated score. I track as people report. Periodically, I will post "tracked to here". That means I will not be going back to check for updates. It's too much like work.

When you look at your picture on Photobucket, you will see a box to the right side that says, "Links to Share". Click on the HTML field. It will change to "copied". Then come here and click "Ctl V" in the comment box. You will get the picture showing like this:

You're very fortunate to have an heirloom like that to remember your grandmother.

message 26: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments My branch library is small, but very popular; always pretty packed. I pretty much always have to put hold requests on most books I want to check out. Then in 5 to 7 days generally, I receive an email notice alerting me that my hold is available for pick-up.

I should have taken a photo of the inside self-check stand, where I most often check out my own books at the kiosk. But if I've messed up and not brought my library card, I can use my driver's license as i.d., and the nice librarians at the front desk will get me checked out. Also, they issue new cards, collect late fines & annual renewals, and such.

Construction is underway for a new, main city library here... Very exciting!! :) Not set to open until 2016 tho. Would love to live closer to it, but I'll be able to take the light-rail train from my neighborhood to downtown and make short walk there, which will be fun to do occasionally.
