They all have had OHC slip releases prior, including The Incal. Technopriests, Metabarons, Before the Incal, After the Incal. I think the only one in the Incals Jodaverse that doesn't have an OHC slip is Weapons of the Metabarons. I don't know why they didn't bundle that with Metabarons. I'd missed out on The Incal one, but had all the rest. I'll finally read them now...
I should figure how to post some pictures of the lot.

Anyone read the IDW TMNT? Any good. I confess, it’s been on my pull list for years at the LCS, so I have many, but never cracked them open yet.

Anyone hear any news on a possible Project Superpowers Volume/Chapter 2 HC?

It seems like just another title that Dynamite leaves us hanging with only one volume on our shelves. Would like to see a HC Omnibus of both chapters and the 4 spin offs.

No news as far as I know on Dynamite's Project Superpowers. How is HC vol 1?

It's being reported that IDW may be for sale in the near future. Not sure who might buy them out, whether new ownership taking over or another publisher might buy them out.

I would like to see them revitalize some of their publishing - still waiting for GI Joe Complete Collection HC vol 9 to be re-solicited. I really want them to collect all the Marvel GI Joe material.

They are doing a great job putting those X-Men runs in their art-size original format.

I can highly recommend IDW's TMNT. For me it really got good starting in book #3. It takes all the good things from the original Mirage and Archie books and modernizes them with a more mature presentation. I don't think you will be disappointed with the series. The Collected books also puts all the mini side stories in the correct reading ordered.

I would agree and they really fill in origins and the relationships of the characters through out the series. It is not an action fluff comic.

1 Feb 20 - The Metabarons Oversized DLX

I like to think this will match The Incal Oversized DLX that came out early this year in size and with a slipcase. However, the dimensions listed on Amazon are slightly smaller. It will be a couple hundred pages thicker. It's also a bit more expensive (cover price for Incal was $125 and The Metabarons is listed at $149.95 right now).

It looks like it had four more pages over the ultimate collection based on the Amazon details. The art for this is not the same as for the Incal - it's on a very different level based on looking at Google images.

Here is the entry on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Metabarons-Ove...

Some pretty good news in here. The John Byrne artifact edition will have a variant wrap around cover and some unfinished pages from his Captain America run.

IDW will also reprint the Parker Martini edition and do a second volume collecting the rest of the series by Cooke. Who better to design it than Brubaker and Phillips? Very happy about this!

Very happy to hear we will be getting a second Parker Martini style book collecting the rest of the Cooke Parker material. I really liked the first one. I'd rank Parker near or at the top for crime noir style graphic novels.

Nickviola | 1019 comments Anyone understand the Darwyn Cooke’s Parker Martini situation?

I thought it was getting back in print in 2020 and a companion volume 2, but right now IDW has the old version on sale for $75 and seems like an active link.

Do you think IST will list with a discount? When is volume 2 out?

Thanks!

Dynamite is going to print an omnibus of the Warren Ellis James Bond series. Not clear if it is a tpb or hc.

Theatrically, I’ve written that character off. The whole spy genre has been overdone with maybe mission impossible being the only entertaining one out there now.

https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/11/...

message 328: by Michael (new)

Michael (mobe1969) | 138 comments I'll give Warren Ellis a go. HC would be nice. But typically their omnis are TPBs aren't they? Like The Boys. And when they do HCs they give another name. Like The Boys. And the upcoming Red Sonja.

Nearly as bad as Boom - I can't believe how nicely their sewn binding is, but for goodness sake, put a hard cover on it! Like the 28 Days Later and Blade Runner omnis...

I won’t buy Dynamite because I’ve been let down with their HC Volume ones not getting a follow up; examples are Lone Ranger and Project Super Powers.

If the Bond omnibus is a hardback I'd probably be in for it. I bought the first standard size Bond HC from the Ellis run and intended to check out more of his run but haven't yet so this would be a nice way to catch up.

Still waiting for Boom studios to solicit a hardcover for the Eisner nominated fantasy series Coda that ended this last year (12 issues). I hope they do something the same size as their Power Rangers hardcovers.

Update on the Metabarons book coming in February. We had some discussion on this a few months back wondering how well it would match The Incal Slipcase. Since that discussion the entry on Amazon has been updated to note the Metabarons book is a two volume slipcase and a numbered limited edition of 1500 volumes. It does still indicate it is slightly smaller in height than The Incal slipcase volume (12.9 inches vs 13.2 inches).

Very excited to finally get the second half of Darwyn Cooke's Parker in an oversized slipcase. If you are interested in crime/Noir comics I rank what I've read so far as the best in comics followed by Blacksad and Brubaker's work.

Also nice to see the third Prince Valiant box set HCs coming at the end of the year.

Nickviola | 1019 comments And they re-solicited the Prince Valiant Boxset #3 thank god! I got the first 2 on like 75% discount which would still be a loss if they didn't keep printing them, one day a complete row of those boxsets would look pretty cool.

Also in for Parker. That said, my September/October wishlist is now north of 700 dollars even with projected IST discounts and thats not feasible so something is going to have to give or hopefully these things get spread out.

Perfect Editions are usually manga in larger than normal sizes though they are sometimes TPB volumes. This larger size does not mean they are oversized like American comics. They are usually closer to standard size and/or thicker than normal manga volumes. Added:

12 May 20 - Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Ed HC vol 9 (manga)
26 May 20 - Soul Eater Perfect Edition HC vol 1 (manga)
16 Jun 20 - 20th Century Boys Perfect Ed TPB vol 8 (manga)
16 Jun 20 - Drifting Classroom Perfect Ed HC vol 3 (manga, final vol)
14 Jul 20 - IDW Collection Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HC vol 11
28 Jul 20 - Soul Eater Perfect Ed HC vol 2 (manga)
11 Aug 20 - Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Ed HC vol 10 (manga)
15 Sep 20 - 20th Century Boys Perfect Ed TPB vol 9 (manga)
22 Sep 20 - Soul Eater Perfect Ed HC vol 3 (manga)
10 Nov 20 - Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Ed HC vol 11 (manga)
24 Nov 20 - Soul Eater Perfect Ed HC vol 4 (manga)
15 Dec 20 - 20th Century Boys Perfect Ed TPB vol 10 (manga)

Not familiar with the Soul Eater manga at all but I looked up the book and saw a statement that as of Sep 2018 it sold over 18 million copies worldwide. So, obviously popular. Story description:
"Set at the "Death Weapon Meister Academy", the series revolves around three teams, each consisting of a weapon meister and (at least one) weapon that can transform into a humanoid. Trying to make the latter a "death scythe" and thus fit for use by the academy's headmaster Shinigami, the personification of death, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, in that order; otherwise, they will have to start all over again."

Some news about the next volume of Parker. It will include a brand new story by Brubaker and Phillips and is sort of a tribute to Cooke.

https://bleedingcool.com/comics/idw-2...

In closing, Ryall wanted to share that the rerelease of the Darwyn Cooke Parker series as the Martini Edition will be followed by another volume next year with a new Parker story by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. The new story is a tribute to the Parker characters but to Darwyn himself. This upcoming book will be out the midpoint of 2021 and will have the new story titled "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow A Grofield Story."

This is great news. There a couple artists with similar styles to Cooke (Michael Cho or perhaps Francesco Francavilla) and I wouldn't have minded seeing them on the book with Brubaker but we know Phillips and Brubaker are a good team.

Omer (omerver) | 35 comments Could anyone confirm if the recent Firefly Unification War DLX edition is indeed smaller in size than the Firefly Legacy DLX? Amazon, as well as some other online sellers, list it at approximately regular size HC, while Legacy is OHC size. Also, IST has it listed as B&W, which clearly is not true. The price point of $75 definitely does not justify the smaller size hypothesis.

Wanted to pick it up at IST while it's at unusually good discount for IDW, but not sure if I want to have two "DLX" editions from the same series with different sizes though...

My understanding is that they are the same size. I ordered a copy but it hasn't been picked/shipped yet. Amazon has the same size for both the small standard size and the DLX all in one hardcover. I suspect Amazon's site is incorrect in this circumstance (Barnes and Nobles lists it in the larger size).
