Check out my Just Fun shelf (https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...). I found these fun reads and they are quite varied in genre.
From that list, you might enjoy:
Ready Player One
American Gods
The Monk (gothic fun)
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal
Bad Monkeys
Other favorites of mine are:
The Sparrow (and its sequel)
any of Bryce Courtenay's books set in Africa or Australia
A Prayer for Owen Meany
I don't know if any of these is of interest to you. It would help if you could narrow down the genres or types of books you enjoy.

I guess people have their own opinions. I personally don't think the designs are any good.

I'll try Dad is Fat! I loved Furously happy

I still don't like Gaffigan's stand up, but the book is terrific. I hope you like it!

These sound like really fun books! I sometimes have to take a break from the dark and heavy books I often end up reading, like Pet Semetary which I am reading right now so that I can read something lighthearted and happy to lift my mood.

I think when I read too many books in one vein or another it often leads to a reading slump.

i have never heard of gifts on Thanksgiving before. Has your family always done this?

I sent a message to everyone about the poll! It should be all good to go now! No idea what happened, sorry peeps!

Have you considered audio books? I've started to use them and am finding them very enjoyable. My library offers a nice selection of books along with a great app (LIBBY). My one complaint is a couple of times I haven't enjoyed the actor reading the story. (Make Me: A Jack Reacher Novel by Lee Child comes to mind, I was unable to finish the story (read by Dick Hill). I think the narrator can make or break an audio book.
A huge advantage for me is I can listen while doing other things that don't require my undivided attention.

Audio-books are fantastic!! I use my Library's service and an app called Scribd. It's $8 a month (so WAY cheaper than audible) and you don't have to pay any additional amounts for certain books. It may not have quite as many audio-books as Audible but it does have a pretty massive collection. I listen to audio-books constantly and, so far, I've only run across one book that was not available to listen to. Plus, you can read eBooks on there so you get that option as well. I would highly recommend it.

The reader can make all the difference to me, I've listened to a book I hated on the page, but fell in love with as an audio and that's down to the reader. I have a few go to readers that I will listen to no matter what they happen to be reading. You can search by reader on the Libby and Overdrive apps, so that's helpful.
