SOLVED. Series with Boy who solves crimes [s]

All I remember is that all of the covers for these books where black with colored pictures on them. For instance the only one I remember is a black background cover with a green snake. (Also there might have possibly been one with a finer print on it) But anyways this series was about a young man (possibly a student) who solves crimes, with the help of what I remember to be a kind the equivalent of Jarvis to Iron man. The only book out of these that I remember is him investigating at the construction of a stadium being built (for the olympics or something) Im sorry if this seems vague but I really liked these books as a kid and I didn't even know if they were ever popular or not.
