Grace McCabe (grace_mccabe) | 7 comments Hi all - I'm Grace, and I'm 42 and live in Estes Park, Colorado. I'm an avid reader (and writer) of romance and paranormal fiction. I enjoy books with a great story, and with characters I can believe in. But I also like fantasy, thrillers, and a good mystery once and a while. I've had some short stories published in traditional print magazines, but I'm trying the self-publishing route as an author to hopefully reach a wider audience.

I use a Kindle paperwhite reader (kinda old, but still works fine). As for hobbies, I'm into outdoor recreation, photography, and watching my hubby race motocross in the summer.

Anyway, I look forward to being a part of the group, and finding out what great new books people are reading.

Walt Cody | 1 comments Hi. I'm Walt Cody. I just joined the author's group because my new crime novel, Manhattan Roulette, is being published tomorrow.

If anyone's up for it, I'd appreciate your opinions/reviews.

Angela Elliott | 2 comments Hi, I'm Angela, relatively new to Goodreads, but not new at all to writing. I've been a scriptwriter for TV and film for a long time, but now an author. My latest book is the first in a four part series featuring Kitty Ives, an 18th century crime fighting prostitute. Think Jane Austen crossed with Agatha Christie by way of Moll Flanders. You can find out more here: http://mybook.to/thefinish or at my website www.angelaelliottbooks.com

I'm more than happy to help out with research, graphics (for covers - I used to be a graphic artist), editing or just general stuff. Whatever helps.
thanks

Neil Carstairs | 5 comments Hello all

My name is Neil Carstairs and I live in Worcester, UK. I found my way here through friends made in other groups. My author page is here https://www.goodreads.com/author/show....
I write both short and long fiction, most of my shorter work is speculative fiction but the longer work always seems to end up in the paranormal genre.

I'm an author from NH. Just saying hi. I'm releasing a new book in a few weeks and I'll be posting in the author section once I find it so I can get reviews for it.

It's self-help, and it's a quick, easy read. I also have some horror and dystopian novels under my belt.

message 122: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3 comments Hello! I'm Jill :) I have many interests, as far as books go. Reading is really my only hobby at the moment, and I'm usually working on 3-4 books at a time. This is my intro, but I've also got a question about reviews: How do those of you who review handle giving a not-so-positive review? I've been disappointed with the last 3 books I received as giveaways. The ideas are great, but the writing itself is either all over the place with no flow or there's way too many spelling and grammar errors. The last one I tried to read frustrated me halfway through the first chapter, because I had to re-read sentences to understand what exactly they were trying to say. It was in English, but it was written as if the author isn't entirely fluent in English. I don't like giving low or negative reviews, but feel the authors need some feedback.

J.L. Leslie (jlleslie) | 15 comments Hi! I'm J.L. Leslie. Just joined the group. I've been writing for a while now, but have just started self-publishing my books through Amazon. I write mainly romance, but may decide to venture in other genres at a later time. I'm hoping to connect with other authors and readers in this group.

message 126: by Miriam (new)

Miriam Pia | 5 comments I read the first ten or so most recent posts: Ian in London, Storm Weaver, Oksana Pattimari...and more of you. I do hope to find folks here who will eagerly read and review some of my works and then post reviews of them, at least here but quite possible in more than one location online. Offline reviews etc. also appreciated. Like most of you other pros, I started out as a reader and then as an amateur and somehow managed to turn pro but am now learning to make my way in this league.

I am an odd but often friendly middle aged American woman. Right now, the works I have on author are one introductory philosophical work aka self-help, and an urban novel.

I don't mean to abuse this forum. Sometimes you will get the 'business end' which may seem cold rude or pushy. In truth I am able to mix business with pleasure but which is coming at you may or may not match your own needs or mental state. I will just apologize up front in the event that I rub someone the wrong way here.

Maurice Halton (mauricehalton) | 1 comments My name is James and I am a historian, a philosopher, and environmentalist and a keen reader and fiction (as well as non-fiction). I enjoy fantasy and science fiction as long as it’s well written. Historical fiction is acceptable as long as it sticks largely to the “facts”. Charles Dickens can do no wrong.

message 130: by Agnès (new)

Agnès Savigny | 3 comments Hi all. I'm a newly published author from Toronto and fairly new to Goodreads (a month?) so I have much to learn about both the site and the best way to promote the new book.

Safe to say I am here as an author looking for reviews. I also read but not as much as I'd like to. Time constraints.

I have an author's page on Goodreads where my book is listed. It's a thriller-romance. I'll post a review link once I figure out the most appropriate place to put one.

Adi Chi (adichi) | 1 comments Hey everyone!

My nom de plume is Edward Mountain.

I am a writer/music producer that integrates my skills in writing, music, and design to help stimulate the minds of fellow readers such as yourself!

Its great to be apart of the Goodreads community - have been a long-time lurker, but finally got around to signing up.

Although I currently only have one published novel out (which I recently have released) titled 'Below Cerulean Skies,' I will continue to release epic poetry, short stories, and songs throughout so if you are interested in my creative venture, I'd gladly appreciate the support :-)!

message 132: by A.R. (new)

A.R. Simmons (arsimmons) | 15 comments Hi folks,
I'm new to the group, but not to Goodreads, I write mystery/suspense novels. Reviews are the life blood of writing as far as I'm concerned, but I would love the opportunity to exchange views on everything from writer's ethics to the nuts and bolts of the author's art/craft. I will give opinions (when asked) and respond to any question or request.

Sequoia (sequoianagamatsu) Hi all!

My name is Sequoia Nagamatsu. I'm the author of a forthcoming Japanese folklore and Pop-culture inspired story collection, Where We Go When All We Were Is Gone, and I'm also working on a novel and second collection. During the day, I'm a professor of creative writing (currently at The College of Idaho near Boise and soon to be at St. Olaf in Minnesota).

Originally from Hawaii (Oahu) and the San Francisco Bay Area but have spent much of my adult life in Japan (Niigata City) and the Midwest (Iowa, Illinois, and soon Minnesota).

Apart from reading and writing, I love watching horror movies, being distracted by my cat, and collecting curios (i.e. faux taxidermy of mythological creatures). (less)

Nichole Dills Hello! I love Goodreads! I use it to keep track of all the books I have read throughout the year. I am a mom of 4 boys and work as a page in a library in the Youth Services department. I love all types of books (Fan Fic, picture books, juvenile biographies, historical fiction, etc) and am always looking for one outside my box. Someday I would like to write my own childrens book. I joined this group to see what others like and suggest.

Bianca M Schwarz (biancamschwarz) | 1 comments Hi,
I'm Bianca M Schwarz. I wrote A Thing Of Beauty, The Sir Henry March Mysteries. It's a historical romance thriller and came out in October last year. It has good reviews and a small but enthusiastic following, but like most first books, it just kind of sits there, waiting for something to happen.
One of my author friends told me that I should join some groups to build my platform here on Goodreads and maybe get some more reviews, so here I am. I know that everyone else is asking for reviews, too, so I won't bother with that but if any of you want to check out my book, I would love that.
In the meantime I keep working on the next one.
Thanks all,
Bianca

Marguerite Mooers (margueritemooers) | 23 comments Hi, I'm Marguerite, my friends call me Peggy. I just finished my third murder mystery A Casualty of Hope. My first two mysteries did pretty well on Goodreads, not fantastic, but then I don't think I worked hard enough to get them noticed. So, I'm looking for anyone who might want to read a murder mystery with a little bit of romance in it.
And I'll post it in the right place.

Welcome to the group. I just joined because I realized with my third book that I was spending too much time writing and not getting out into the (cyber world) enough. I love to write and I love readers that will read my stuff and give me reviews (honest is all I ask). So I'm glad you are here. I grew up in an age when TV was a huge box and newscasters just sat there and read the news, so I know what you are talking about. I think no TV is a great training for the imagination. In fact being a writer is a wonderful antidote against boredom. I can always go into my head, work on plot problems, think about my characters and there I am. Welcome to the group. I just joined and I write murder mysteries with a romantic twist.

Hi, I'm Peggy. I actually spend part of the year in Texas (Port Aransas, near Corpus) and my most recent novel "A Casualty of Hope" is set in west Texas. The book I'm working on now will be set in the Coastal Bend with a main character who is a con man. It is fun. Fun. Fun.
