Ward (kd_pl) | 28 comments Hi Everyone,Ward Best here, your care taker moderator. Here is my list:

Favorite Books:Anything written by Robert Lewis Stevenson.
Favorite Genres:Any kind of an Adventure, whether in space or somewhere else.
Favorite TV shows:Hogan's Heroes with F Troop a close second.
Favorite Movies:Robin Hood (Errol Flynn version)and Zulu (Michael Caine)
Favorite Food: Maryland Crab Cakes
Day Job:I work for UGE (unnamed government entity) in Cyber Security
Hobbies:Cast my own lead toy soldiers, play some golf, hiking and a little bird watching.
Other: A piece of personal trivia; For all you horror fans, I went to High School with Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi. Bruce's locker was five down from mine. The first time I saw Burn Notice, I laughed so hard I cried. It was the same schtick he did in English class. No we didn't keep up (dummy me) so no need to ask.

I am so glad Anna has come on the scene to really put this group on a good set of rails.

And I should mention that Tim Quill, the blacksmith in Army of Darkness, also ran in that crowd. It gets worse (from my perspective), the now Executive Director of Friday Night Lights, his locker was between mine and Bruce's. I just don't understand how I missed the boat.
Ron, Brisco County Junior was a good show, but nothing really captured the guy I remember from High School like Burn Notice.

Hi, Pete, and welcome.

A story a day might be a bit strict. Sometimes you need to take a little time to think about the idea. And live with the characters a little bit.

Peter (pdauthor) Well I did want it to be a challenge, albeit it turned out to be one I failed. I'm having much more success with one long story instead.

Don't ask? Whaddaya mean, don't ask? With a statement like that, of course I feel compelled to ask! What's wrong with cornflakes, anyways? (if you can get the ones that aren't GMO). Sweet, crunchy goodness :-)

Welcome to Space Opera fans! And don't feel bad about not writing a book, it's a lot of work, and for those that do it, we find ourselves constantly asking, "Now why did I do this to myself again?" because we have no time to do what we love best ... David | 3 comments I'm Dave. I am 40. I read my first Iain Banks Culture novel in college and have been on board with space operas ever since. my Favorite SF authors are Banks, Card, Brin, and Vinge. I mostly read 20th century literature. My favorite books are Sophies Choice, Lolita, Gatsby and anything Vonnegut.
I am the president of a largish microbrewery (sort of a contradiction).
I love to cook, read, listen to music (mostly Black Metal), and fish.
My favorite food is anything freshly prepared.
I don't watch much tv or movies, so I can't help there.

My favorite authors are Asimov, Pohl, Weber, Clarke. I also like fantasy and enjoy Eddings, Martin, Jordan, JRR, David Drake and Terry brooks. I am not too crazy about horror but my favorite author is clearly H.P. Lovecraft who has elements of SiFy and fantasy in his Mythos. message 87: by Freeman (new)

Freeman Morey | 15 comments Thanks, Anna, right now the discussions seem to be about books I haven't read, but I will keep watch. I have a habit of reading series that have been out for awhile so I don't have to wait for the next book to come out. My worst fear is that Martin will expire before he finishes "game of thrones". This puts me behind most of the discussions, but I will certainly consider new series!

Welcome Rotuma!

It sounds like you're in the right place :-) You have no idea how happy it makes of us when we meet somebody new and after they admit they're a 'Trekkie' or 'Star Wars' fan, they then go into the exact list of 'favorites' that you just did :-)

I know what you mean, Freeman. I'm a fan of Twin Peaks, which is unlikely to ever be finished, and I constantly curse that Stieg Larson died so early, before he could write more books about Lisbeth Salander. But in the space opera genre, may I humbly point you to Agents of ISIS?
