Nina | 7 comments Amanda M. HoltOk so I got these books back in what I think was 2011 on a Kindle 6 ink display or something. It is about a girl who is walking home when she is sexually assaulted (or nearly so) because all of a sudden this black, idk organic armor, or something seeps from her pores and covers her entire body (this a line I sort of remember in the book "it covered her hair and formed dreadlocks," or something). She doesn't know who her father is (lives with her mother) and I remember in one of the books she was going to discover the secret of her powers and her father. She has decided to become the vigilante of her town/city? and murders the man who tried to rape her and other men who do the same and just some general badassery ensues. It was under the free book section on the kindle I mentioned before. There are over 3 of these short stories I believe and I am not a 100% sure but they might have been somewhere around 12 pages long. If i remember anything else I will add it and thank you so much for helping me!

Nina--did you check your Cloud? The book might still be there. Or check your orders on line, if you think you might have deleted the book.

This is weird, but Nina has already left the group. Maybe by accident? Maybe she's going to check responses and rejoin if she needs to post anything...?

Nina | 7 comments This was before Cloud or when it was still really new. It was on my dad's kindle and he doesn't remember where the kindle is so that is out too

My computer glitched and yes it was an accident :)

Glad you're back. :)

Nina | 7 comments Thanks :) and I remember something else when the black armor covers her body it goes past her fingers giving her claws as well as incredible strength and speed as she evades the police who are going after a murderer (even though she only kills those who in her mind at least deserve it)

Melanti | 330 comments But even if it was back in 2011, it should still be listed in your father's account as long as it was purchased from Amazon. Mine has books dating all the way back to 2009.

So, I'd go to the cloud reader ( http://read.amazon.com ) and get your dad to log in. The books should be more or less in the order they were purchased unless you've opened them on that computer, so scroll down and see if you can spot something else you read at about that same time, then you'll know it should be nearby...

There's the Manage Your Kindle page as well (http://amazon.com/myk) but that's rather tedious to browse through since you can only do it ten books at a time but it does have the bonus of including dates purchased...

Nina | 7 comments That's a really good idea! I will really have to talk him into it and probably wait for the weekend, but how is it set up? Would I be able to click on "2011" or would I have to scroll until I find it?

message 10: by Melanti (new)

Melanti | 330 comments I'd suggest the cloud reader first and see if you can recognize it by the cover art.

Just go to read.amazon.com and it'll prompt you for a user name and password. Log in with whatever account you bought the book with (your father's, it sounds like) and it should bring up the covers of all the books. It might prompt you to install a plugin, but you don't have to unless you plan on using the cloud reader often. Just hit escape to skip that step.

There's a slider bar in the upper right corner to increase the size of the thumbnails if you need to. And no, there's no way of skipping to 2011, and it won't list dates on this page, but you can scroll up and down pretty easily.

Nina | 7 comments It wasn't there :( Is there any other suggestions you have to finding it?

message 12: by Melanti (new)

Melanti | 330 comments Did you ever purchase and/or download from any other sites? Fictionwise or Smashwords for example? Or use another Amazon account?

Anything bought from Amazon should still be on Amazon. 2011 really isn't that long ago comparatively.

One of the problems with tracking down these freebies is that often they're indie or self published books and are harder to find again after the fact since fewer people have read them.
