Did you get the weather? Are you warm?

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments It's still coming down.
Warm enough.

They increased the inches possibly up to 30 or 40.

My country woukd grind to a halt. Then as it turned to compacted, icy stuff we'd be expected to go to work.

A photo would be lovely ;)

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I'll see what I can do about the pic.

Didn't get as much as I thought though I haven't measured it yet.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Blizzard of 2016 East Coast USA.
My front yard.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Oh...and Helen..

we did pretty much grind to a halt.

Luckily it's the weekend.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments All clear and ready for me to get to work in the am.
IF I can get up the hill.

Wow, proper snow! I'm impressed that you cleared it. It looks just like I imagined Sookie's in my head ;)

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I meant to mention a BIG thanks to my neighbor and a friend for the help clearing it.

Both had snowblowers.

In the free paper this morning, it said your storm would be heavy rain, up to six inches. As I got off the bus on my way home, the great rain upped its game. It rained so heavily that in the space of 30 metres I was wet through to my skin. Backpack wet through. Paper carrier bag disintegrated. Yay not!

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Oh...yuck!

Yikes Brenda! I saw pictures and videos on the news and I'm a bit sad we barely have snow in Canada (specifically Ontario). We had a small dump of snow last week (~15cm which is quickly melting), but I am a bit jealous. Hopefully you stay warm and safe!

Everything worked out. It was a weekend, so preparedness let me stay in for 2 and a half days.

Lots of people complaining about the slowness of the snow removal and such. Eye roll ; )

Like the plows had control over the drifting and amount that fell in so short a time.

Lára | 479 comments I´m thinking about what to do for breakfast (it´s 1:36 here) and what to make for lunch. I never eat breakfast but this week it´s different and I really like fried shrimp but when cooking for someone else, you think what they´d have liked and he´s so busy that he never had any wishes so far and since I'm trying to surprise him I have no idea what to make :(

You can go English style, eggs, bacon (or sausage), toast and hash browns. Can't go wrong there.

Or if he, or you, are not for a rich savoury breakfast do pancakes or waffles. Go traditional and you can't go wrong!

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Here lately, I've been going...eggs, grits (lots of butter) and maybe an English muffin.

What are grits?

I have porridge in winter or muesli in summer. When dads here we have scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms on toast. He adds sausage.

message 171: by Dan (new)

Dan (TheGreatBeast) Myself I religiously eat yogurt, a banana, and a granola bar pretty much every morning.

But I was more suggesting something special with a bit more prep time for a surprise.

Lára | 479 comments I've been under such a pressure lately that I started re-watching anime that motivate me (Junjou Romantica and Sekaiichi Hatsukoi), planting radish (now my neighbor has more reason to hate me - not only do I grow garlic but radish too!), going into Asian section of my university library and memorizing titles and authors of the books (for some reason it really calms me down) and since I had a problem with insomnia and didn't want to take any pills, I've started listening to CD dramas (in Japanese) where usually my favourite voice actor Daisuke Kishio plays the main role - his voice is so beautiful and relaxing and put me to sleep.

In the morning, before going to class, I watch one episode of anime Vampire Knight (it's my 4th time watching it, but this time I'm watching it in English and it's a bit weird but I'll finish it). During the time I spend going to class and home, I read and amazingly all my stress had disappeared. I've even enrolled myself in uni club activity: Xiangqi (chinese chess). Right now, life is really good :)

That's one of those " Secret Sister" pyramid schemes, I'm afraid. If the math doesn't pan out, don't participate... unless you're into scams.

I've read about these, but that's not exactly how this works, you don't get a list. When I wrote to my friend, she gave me the address of the person whose post she liked (who turned out ot be my classmate) - that's who I should send the book to, and her address, which is the one I'm supposed to give to the people who like my message. So they'll send a book to her. And technically I only get books if the people who like my post also share it. I do realise this, but I'm willing to risk it.
Goodreads keeps cutting my initial message out though and I do feel remarkably stupid now, so just ignore this :D And thanks for the warning.

Lára | 479 comments I´m in the middle of the process of cleaning my apartment. I got rid of clothes I don´t wear and with doing so got one empty closet so since my biggest problem are books, I´ve transformed this closed into a bookshelf. I literaly have books just about everywhere, except in the bathroom so I decided to "clean up" and by that I actually mean, get rid of everything I don´t use, except books. I could never get rid of books. True, I have lots of plants and some are actually "eating" the books but that I don´t mind at all. It´s ... natural.

I even tried not buying more books, but I failed. It´s like a drug to me, I´m completely addicted. Can´t pass a bookstore without going inside...

I'm sure it'll be restored with love which is better than standing still. Feel proud :)

I've been meaning to take a subscription for Radio Times (tv mag) for some time. In this week's there's an offer- free kindle! Found my motivation. My kindle is fine but also five so freebie here I come.

Lára | 479 comments I have a silk sleepwear that I don't use unless I'm super clean and today, after shower I asked myself whether I really need all that water just for a sleepwear? I could use my "silk glow" shower gel and use half of that water I use. I blame it on my disorder: I need to wash it until my body is clean (or I think it's clean) but I tried to lessen it a bit today. I worry still tho. I feel dirty.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments So Lára, when you get rid of things in the house that you don't use, is it easy?
I'm getting rid of a lot of things and used or not, I'm having a hard time.

Not easy when you're about to get rid of them. Some are sentimental, other practical but ugly and still you don't won't to throw them away but you must. I had to.

Funny thing is that when I do it, I don't even remember the stuff I've gotten rid off. The hardest thing is to start and do it.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I threw away some battery operated "candles," and as I did I said I'm going to dig those out of tge trash I just know it.
OK maybe throwing away is a bit drastic, even though the batteries died too fast.
I dug them out for the yard sale. Bet I don't give them up.

Brenda, the 55 Dodge got hauled off in April? Are they going to fix it up and bring it back?

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Charlton, yes April 16th.
I don't know the gentleman, though perhaps I will.

Just today he communicated, through facebook, about the work he had done and plans to send me pictures.
It is now his, but he promises a final look and ride in it. Maybe I'll even get to drive it!

Charlton (cw-z) Last night I had to take my dog for a walk at 8:45. Only the streetlights were on,which was good. But it was still in the high 80's,I had really hoped it would cooler. Today they are looking at mid 90's.

If it isn't flooding, then it's hot as hell.Between the end of October and sometime in March is supposed to be the pleasant time.

But it's Texas (there is no fall) what are you gonna' do?

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Ha!
In Delaware, they have a saying.....if you don't like the weather just wait a moment.

My husband lived in Texas for a short time.
He was with some Texans and they said they needed to cut down a big tree.... huge! So he got a chain saw and they went to cut it down.

He sees this tree and I know he laughed. He tells them don't ever go to Delaware, the trees there will scare you to death!

He had a very contagious laugh.
: D

message 196: by Charlton (new)

Charlton (cw-z) The big trees are the pines in East Texas, but that's Nat'l Forest.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments This was near Austin, I'm pretty sure.

He had another sorry he liked to tell about a deer hunt.

Pretty much ended the same.

He could tell a story, though.
