Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I am so glad it's Friday! It's been an eventful week. First I was ill with sudden facial swelling, then the coldest day/night so far 10°f, my heat stopped working....tests tests.....

message 103: by Helen, I·ᴍ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʟɪʙʀᴀʀʏ (new)

Helen | 3616 comments Mod
No! I don't approve of missing heat! My class radiators aren't on, or the room next to mine. At home, I've been blasting it to keep warm.

How's your face? Do they know what happened? Allergy?

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Related to my melanoma I believe.
I'm pumped up with steroids now, so it's down.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I haven't made any dioramas, yet. I need some space. Maybe I'm just not up to the challenge.

Hmmm...oh....dang cat...playing hopscotch over me, and around!

Think I'll look for a book on dioramas.

My cat smacked me in the eye this morning to wake me up. I wasn't impressed.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments One of mine is a very, touchy....meaning ~paws on......kitty.

She'll reach out and tap at my face, all the time, while laying on my belly. Usually, she'll hook my lip. Not my favorite.

message 108: by Maarit (last edited Jan 10, 2016 04:12AM) (new)

Maarit Well, atleast I hope that your cats don't piss on your legs to show you that they like you (or maybe don't like?). My rabbit does that, though it does so only to me, not my boyfriend. That's why I'm especially careful in the mornings (and sometimes evening time as well) not to put my legs down to floor for too long when I sit on the couch unless I want the Duracell -rabbit to piss on them. He doesn't do it too often, though, but the times he does it are very sudden and could have been avoided if I had seen it coming. Oh, and my avatar shows how the rabbit looks like, though the picture is a few years old and the rabbit turns 7 this year, so he's a bit more silvery grey, almost white at parts, than on the picture (he's always been grey, it's his base colour, the fur has just changed shades over the years).

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments No...if a cat pisses on you, it's not to say they like you. Just that they own you.

Not sure about rabbits. Maybe he's just ornery?

Or excited?

message 110: by Maarit (last edited Jan 10, 2016 06:01AM) (new)

Maarit I think his both excited and a bit mean as well, because as said, he won't piss on my boyfriends feet. It can also be weeks that he won't piss on me, but then suddenly he might wet me two or even three times in one week and go back to ignoring me and then continue later etc. :D. So it's one big cycle that keeps turning on and on, but since the only harm happens to my trousers (and socks, if I happen to wear them), I don't mind it that much. Carpet gets some drops in it at times, but they are easy to clean with some watered tissue if you do it immediately and don't wait too long.

Cats are all about ownership. One that I had while pregnant, peed on me while I was trying to fall asleep. I was so angry, and due that day, I'm amazed the baby didn't arrive!

Another that I have now does it occasionally if I'm not behaving satisfactorily. It's usually connected to wanting food at breakfast. He hasn't done it for weeks but...

I´ll truly miss him.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I'm sorry.

His life should be celebrated not forgotten.

I try to do the same within my own life, perhaps not always successful.

One of the things that struck me with all the clips etc, is his elegance and style. He always looked so immaculate.

Thought I'd play some of his music and I've discovered all of the music by him that I own is either on cassette or vinyl, I can't play any of those!

True that. It's a great album.
Even my favourite singer, Peter Murphy is grieving.
He shared a video on his site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j062o...

Lára | 479 comments I adore my pet snails (aquarium), they´re so cute! They were eating my live aquarium plants but I bought them food so now they´re eating it. They also let me touch them. I´m so happy.

I´m going to get a betta fish, red one, named Agni, soon. The shop its going to order it especially for me!

I had a blue betta fish for 5 years named Aslan and he was such a great pet, always eating from my hand and so tame.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I've thought of getting a beta. Planning is crucial, since I don't have a good place for it now.

How did you keep him? I want to set a tank up for plants first, and understand they (betas) like the water warmer. I have a friend who just keeps them in large jars...no plant...no warmth.....

You need to cycle a tank first (making the water presentable, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and very small number of nitrate). Bettas are quite hardy but you want the best for your pet!

I´m using a 20 litres (4 gallons) for one male betta fish, since they´re very territorial and more than 10 g allons can stress them.
If you want him to have a female, you should have at least 3 because he´s aggressive. With particular fish (those that don´t have fancy tails) he might be nice, or not. I had mine with snails and he was throwing them around. He ate my shrimp and he hated pencils.

24 C (75 F?) is fine for them but mine was under 22 C and he lived for 5 years.

Tropical Fish Hobbyist is the only magazine I´m following, for 6 years already. I´ve read all the books about keeping fish in local library and bought some online. It´s one of my hobbies, fishkeeping I mean.

Maarit Once again RIP

to Alan Rickman

:( I really liked the roles he played in various movies, especially in Harry Potter -series (Severus Snape).

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Alan Rickman truly made Prof. Snape his own.

It's who I'll always think of, when I read HP.

He is missed.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments I love having fish Lāra. It's been years and my husband had most of the knowhow. : )

After I move and settle...I'll start with a small tank probably.

Lára | 479 comments Noo. I really liked him. This year is the worst. First David Bowie and now him, and both the same age. At least Peter Murphy is alive and if he dies, I´m going to be devastated.

I was just coming on to say we'd had another death. Just saw it on the news when I arrived home from work. What a horrible start to the year.

We had goldfish when my daughter was young but stopped after a few years as we started having a problem with slimy stuff. The filter only seemed to deal with water rather than the'ground'. I love watching fish.

Yeah, they are. I had 3 of them, a black telescope, red cap (oranda), and comet one in a huge aquarium. They ate all the plants xd I had them for many years but no plants with them.

I want a crab now.

and my litres to gallons was wrong too xd
20 l is 4UK gallons, not 40 xd

They say that for betta 5 litres is enough but when I see them in such a small place I feel sorry for them.

I originally planned to cycle my 30 litres tank for betta I'm going to get, but I had no idea how to plant it so I decided to put him in 20 l that is already planted. I hope he'll like it.

I'll probably put a shrimp or a crab in 30 l one. Ghost/glass shrimps are cool. I had some long time ago, you could see through them and when they were eating, you could see the food traveling xd
I really liked to watch them eat
