Jim (jimmaclachlan) Yesterday I read The Ghost of Dibble Hollow, for 10 year olds or thereabouts. I still remembered it though I haven't seen a copy in well over 40 years & picked it up from BookMooch. I couldn't believe how much I liked it even now. My review is here:

Jannene I just finished Shadow Zone. It was a really good book. I loved the under water city plot and how they developed it. I really liked all the characters in the story. I didn't see the ending coming but was very glad at how it turned out.

Karen (kazzakrisanna) I'm reading Curfew by Phil Rickman I really like his books, and The Daemon Prism (Collegia Magica, #3) by Carol Berg so far this has been a very good trilogy

Shelli I'm reading Beneath a Marble Sky and Delirium.

message 1810: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished Bleeding Hearts: A Novel for my book club read. I didn't like this book. It was way too slow for my tastes. I didn't care for any of the characters in the book. The PI is a slimy guy who reminds me of the salesman stereotype. The Texan did add a little to the book. The ending caught me completely by surprise. I had never had an inkling that would be the conclusion to this novel.

message 1811: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished A Perfect Evil by Alex Kava . It was a good story. It had characters that you really got to know. There were a few red herrings thrown out for the killer but you eventually knew who it was which is why this book doesn't get a higher rating from me. You really grew to love Maggie and wanted her nightmares to end but the ending leaves you wanting to read the next book to see what happens...

Shelli Halfway through 11/22/63...it's good!

message 1813: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I finished S is for Silence (Kinsey Millhone, #19) by Sue Grafton . I did like this book and enjoyed the story. I liked how she would go back in time and have the story recreated by the characters on the days leading to the event. It was an interesting read from their perspective. However, Kinsey usually ties the entire story in a big bow. Meaning, you know all the answers to the questions throughout the book. That was not the case in this story which really irked me. I like closure and I don't feel that I had that with this book which is why I gave it just a 3 star. The characters are likable with the exception of Violet. I found her some big floozy which I couldn't stand. I feel the reader was let down a little since the story didn't seem complete with all the questions addressed.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) Jannene, I've been a Grafton fan for a long time, but the last three books have been a letdown. Maybe she's getting tired of Kinsey and just can't stop with the alphabet.

I'm now reading James Lee Burke's latest Robicheaux novel, The Glass Rainbow. About 50 pages in, and I'm not sure how good it's going to be. I'll finish it, though.

I got to page 30 or so and decided I would try T is for Trespass again later. Maybe I'm just burned out from reading so many in a row or possibly it like you said "last three books have been a letdown."

message 1831: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished The Mephisto Club. The story was really creepy and dark. Talks of demons and Satan that could keep one up were unnerving. The story line was intriguing. It just held my attention. I love how the author had each chapter alternate between characters and how it was woven into the plot. A great read, 5 stars.

I have just finished Room by Emma Donoghue and have one word to describe it, 'unforgettable'! One of the most enchanting and thought provoking books I have ever read, thank-you Emma Donoghue.

I am just about to start Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman has anyone else read it? I have heard it is really good but fortunately do not know much about it.
