My turn to say to you -- I have it, can I send it your way?"

That would be awesome!!

Diane (dianedj) You got it. I'll put it in the mail by the end of the week. It's a copy a friend sent to me -- the condition of her books always crack me up, as you'll see it looks as if it's been through the 'wringer' as my mother used to say. I've got your address from when you sent me Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China.

Shelli Thanks!!

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm reading Poison Study at the moment; some light relief after The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks!

message 1506: by Chris (new)

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) I have nearly finished Poison Study yesterday started Sister by Rosamund Lupton, which also seems good.

message 1507: by Shane (new)

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments Just started A dance to the Music of Time; Anthony Powell. Got a long way to go if i'm gonna read all 12 volumes! Started off fairly well but i'm only a couple of chapters in. I'll see how it goes.

Diane (dianedj) I started Moonlight Mile this morning. I haven't read a book like this in ages. Quick, mystery, suspense.

message 1509: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I am reading Catcher in the rye by J. D. Salinger, kind of taking a while to get through.

message 1510: by Shane (new)

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments Hi Jennifer

Amen to that! I just couldn't get on with this book and only read a couple of chapters. I really didn't like Holden Caulfield.

message 1511: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) I tried to read that book many years ago and I didn't get past the first few pages. My sister - who NEVER reads - loves that book and named her son Holden after the main character. Go figure.

message 1512: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm just starting Travels with My Aunt by Graham Greene. It's a long time since I've read anything by him, but enjoyed some of his work when I read it many years ago.

message 1513: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hi Shane and Sarah

I just finished Catcher in the Rye and after all the hype you hear I don't know why it is loved so much, took forever to get through too! I'm reading catching fire from the hunger games trilogy now and I am already over a hundred pages.

message 1514: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) I loved The Hunger Games trilogy!

message 1515: by Shane (new)

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments Angela. I have just got to read Travels With My Aunt! Let me know what it's like. It's been recommended to me by a few people. I've only read Brighton Rock and I like it although I found it extremely sombre.

Ta

Shane

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments Jennifer. Thanks for the feedback on Catcher. Think i'm gonna give it a miss. I know it's one of those books you 'should' read but I think i'm a bit old for all that now!:)

message 1517: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Shane. You're not missing much don't worry!

Hi Shane
I'm not very far into Travels with My Aunt, but am enjoying it. It's much lighter than Brighton Rock, but I love Graham Greene's style. Will update you as I read more!

message 1519: by Chris (new)

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) Reading Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder and Sister by Rosamund Lupton and enjoying both!

message 1520: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Found in my son's room and started reading...Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation!! Funny!

message 1521: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) That looks like a funny one Shelli :-)

message 1523: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) Last night, I began reading Chekov's The Party and Other Stories, which I discovered on my boyfriend's side of our library. I love the timelessness of Chekov's writing - the story about the university students visiting the brothels was particularly delightful, ironic. I feel in reading him as though I've met these people, these types, before, even though we live in very different centuries.... Just the inspiration I needed to go back to editing my own book manuscript....

Sam (ecowitch) | 29 comments I'm currently a good way through In the Woods by Tana French and I'm really enjoying out. I keep alternating between different solutions and each time I think I've got it sussed something happens to change my mind. Can't wait until I finish it so I can finally find out!

message 1526: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) Sam, with the one I'm reading. Moonlight Mile. I haven't read a mystery page turner in ages, and I'm really enjoying it.

Have you started it yet? You'll have to let me know if it's any good, based on In The Woods I imagine it would be!

message 1530: by Dani (new)

Dani H (pentopaperreads) | 14 comments I finished Moon Called by Patricia Briggs last night, which was wonderful, and started Branded by Keary Taylor this morning, which so far I'm really enjoying!

message 1531: by Chris (new)

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) Needed to start a new book after finishing the Poison Study series and hadn't a clue what to go for from the piles on the TBR. A random pick of Mortal Fear by Greg Iles should do the trick, although at 550+ pages of small typeface, I might be a while!

message 1532: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I'll be interested to see what you think!

message 1533: by Diane (new)

I'm steering clear of the threads, but I can hardly wait to talk about it.

message 1536: by Ashwini (new)

Ashwini (bookshelver) I loved The Kitchen House too. I read it over a month ago and have read other books since but The Kitchen House is unforgettable! I just finished True Grit and love it's spunky heroine! :-) Saw the movie too but they skipped some details, so the book is better. (As always!)

message 1537: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments Finished Travels with My Aunt this morning. I really liked it - much lighter than other books by Graham Greene, but still had something to say. He writes beautifully - well worth reading.
Continuing with61 Hours, but I'm not really enjoying it that much; also reading Bleak House.

message 1538: by Chris (new)

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) I seem to be reading thrillers this week!
You're Next
Mortal Fear
The Leopard
I'll be checking doors are locked and bolted before long!

message 1539: by David (new)

David Did anyone see the recent film of Brideshead Revisited? Much better than the BBC series.

message 1540: by Shane (new)

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments I enjoyed the film. I went to see it at the cinema. I have to say I much preferred the TV series, I watched it religiously first time round. There was much more detail in the series (claerly so) and it was pretty faithful to the book. I thought Emma Thompson was great as Lady Marchmain though, really quite nasty and manipulative.

message 1541: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just finished Wild Cards & am going to start Aces High, the second in the series. It's short stories by some fantastic SF & Fantasy authors.

message 1542: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Rebecca....and I'm really liking it so far!

message 1543: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm glad you're liking Rebecca, Shelli. I loved it and am a great fan of Daphne du Maurier. Most of her books are worth reading.

message 1545: by Susan (new)

Susan I'm now reading Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler by Sarah Ockler and On Folly Beach by Karen White by Karen White, both are really good!!!

message 1546: by Stuart (new)

Stuart (asfus) | 103 comments I am reading Fool Moon by Jim Butcher

message 1547: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 29 comments I've been reading The Gates of Janus by Ian Brady and it is surprisingly coherent, despite his occasional foray into conspiracy theory and politician bashing. Looking forward to seeing what he says about each of the serial killers he has done a chapter on, it'll be insightful if nothing else.

message 1549: by David (new)

David I'm reading Dune. If it's possible to feel at home in a book then this is the roof over my head. A great hero, a doomed Duke and his beautiful wife, a faithful mentat and a brilliant villain in Baron Harkkonen. And a siege mentality, of course.

message 1550: by Angela (last edited Mar 10, 2011 08:14AM) (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm still reading Bleak House, but slipped in a short memoir called Next of Kin by Priscilla Lalisse-Jespersen. I received it as a goodreads giveaway yesterday and as it was very short and I really wanted to read it....I did! A worthwhile little book.
