Ha, that is a great idea. Does that count as a guilty reading pleasure, lol??

Paula | 25 comments Well, I finally managed to read three horror books this October.
-Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin. I loved it! The movie terrified me but the book is way much better.
-We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. This was the best. It has that mysterious atmosphere, almost oppresive, and the madness of the characters that reminds of some Julio Cortázar's tales (I highly recommend them).
-This House is Haunted by John Boyne. The typical ghost story, with creepy children, an old mansion and all the ingredients of this kind of books. It was ok.

I also read Creating Your Vintage Halloween...which I kinda think qualifies ;)

Pink I didn't get to Interview with the Vampire my excuse is that it was strangely sunny at the end of October and so I didn't feel in the right mood! I might still try to read it this month, we'll see....

It's funny, I didn't really care for that one all that much, but the one after that I thought was really good. I ended up reading the first 5, which is all there were at that time, pretty quickly in a row. I think there's about 5 more now. I would like to read them sometime.

Pink Strange that you preferred the second book to the first. I know she continued to write these, but assumed that like most long series they'd get a bit tired. I'll see how I feel after the first one!

I thought the first 3 were enjoyable Pink - I agree with Chuck the 2nd was better than the 1st, but actually I think the 3rd was my favorite at the time .. a loooong time ago I read them. I think after the 3rd one (The Queen of the Damned)
they did start to drop off for me.

It's not a genre I ordinarily read much, but I remember going to work bleary eyed because I stayed up all night reading the 3rd one (couldn't stop!). Oh those were the days! I could never get away with that nowadays!

Pink Oh it's been a while since I stayed up all night reading. It's wonderful when a book grabs you that much.

I'll definitely bear in mind both your thoughts about preferring books 2 and 3.
