We're born in the middle (hopefully not at the end) of an amazingly complex story. My name is Leah Young. I'm 22 and from Northern Ireland, and have always had a passion for history, and reading. My undergrad degree was in Modern History, focusing on 20th century World History, and my MA focuses on Middle Eastern history. Areas that I particularly enjoy reading about include the Cold War from the U.S., Soviet, and Asian perspectives, and the Middle East in the latter part of the 20th century. Hello...My name is Eric, and I am from Oregon, in the Great Northwest of the USA. I've been a history freak since I was a kid. It's Mom's fault, and I thank her every year with a few new, or new-old, books on history or bio. At the present moment I am reading two histories; 1) The First American: The Life And Times Of Benjamin Franklin by H.W. Brand & 2) Passionate Nation: An Epic History Of Texas by James L. Haley. I have Hamilton by Ron Chernow on the back burner. On kind of an American kick right now, especially with the combustibility of our politics right now. I started off my life as a political junkie back in the Vietnam/Watergate/Munich Massacre era of the early 70's. I was a wee lad of seven when I told my Dad, in tears, that I didn't want to be sent to Vietnam. As usual, he was right, and I was not fodder. But, watching the news in that time, along with a few good history & social studies teachers year in & year out over the ensuing years, gave me a passion for history.The correlations of the past & present fascinate me to no end. It seems that humans have an inherent inability to learn from the mistakes of history...even fairly recent history, doesn't it?
My main interest is books that deal with political personages in history. On my own, I think I tend to get bogged down into one or two.....subjects, eras, or places. (For instance like now, two books on Revolutionary War Americans, and one on the state of Tejas) I guess my goal in joining this group is to see if I can expand my horizons a bit more. Quite a bit more. So, I hope y'all will find me a good and edifying addition to the group, and thank you for being here.

Hello everyone! My name is Jenni and I am finishing up my BA in History. My interests lie in the indigenous peoples throughout the world, but specifically in North and South America. I plan on attending grad school and hope to earn a PhD in history so I can teach students to love history at the collegiate level.
I love to read. From a very young age I have read anything with words! I have recently been reading non fiction books about the American southwest and the borderlands.
I don't have much of an interest in European history, but am enthralled with all other history. I look forward to sharing what I am reading and being able to look through other recommendations.

Hi, I am delighted to join this History group. I have become increasingly interested in history recently, and am keen to make some inroads into my canyon-sized gaps in knowledge in this field.
I had worked in psychology and neuroscience for decades, and my school classes on history were abysmal. And it seems more and more important to me, that we all know something about what really happened in the past--as much as the truth can be gleaned from the records.
I live in southern England, love dogs but am too lazy to have one, and avoid cooking as much as possible.

Hey! My name is Wyatt, and I joined this group because I love history. When I first discovered books when I was little, I was fascinated by them. I was first interested in fiction and mystery, but then a love of history was developed. So with me being a history buff, I've just found the idea of reading a biography on every President, and reviewing them. So I joined Goodreads, and eventually this group. My plan is to read a shorter bio (200-400 pages) on all of them because of time constraints.

Hi my name is Andy... I live in England. My work is in I.T. but my passion is for History. I have been interested in all English history since visiting castles and cathedrals as a child. Specialist subject is the English Civil War but most pre-1700 periods interest me plus the "Victorian Wars". Did my History degree whilst working - finished that in 2013 - and was lucky to get a First - something I am very proud of!

Hi everyone, my name is Ciera! I'm 20 and from the United States (Colorado, specifically). I enjoy reading about all history but what originally sparked my love for this subject was ancient history. I love learning about the ancient Greeks/Romans and Egyptians. I also like English history and American history. This year one of my goals is to read more nonfiction and I thought I would start here since history is one of my passions!
