NOT Approved Books
War Horse doesn't satisfy SRC children's book requirements
Black Beauty only satisfies A and D
The Talisman Ring only satisfies A and B
The Hearts of Horses only satisfies R and D
The Outlander by Gil Adamson "Historical Fiction" doesn't satisfy Option E
Is History the only genre acceptable (I know it can be embedded or not) or can it be variations, like Historical, Historical Fiction or Historical Romance?
Oh my goodness, this was hard! I think I found one The Talisman Ring by Georgette HeyerPlease confirm adventure as it is the last genre on the list.
I have found two book that should work. Please confirm the Genres for these:Humor, Adventure & History:
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail
Humor, Adventure & Romance:
The Princess Bride
For a great story with horses and a non-racy romance set during WWI (but not a war story), try The Hearts of Horses. I listened to the CD and loved it (I usually hate audio books. This one was so good I missed my interstate exit.)
KSMary wrote: "The Heist by Janet EvanovichRomance, Humor and Adventure listed in genres"
NICE! I was planning to read this soon and was hoping I'd find a good place for it! Thanks for finding this one!
How about War Horse by Michael Morpurgo? Main page Historical, Main page Adventure, & a horse named Joey.
Or Black Beauty by Anna Sewell - Adventure, Historical Fiction & a named horse. It has Children's as a main page genre but ARBF lists it as MG, BL 7.7 & AR Pts. 11.

Janet Evanovich was the first author I thought of with Romance and Humor! Should be a fun read!
KSMary wrote: "The Heist by Janet EvanovichRomance, Humor and Adventure listed in genres"
Thanks, KSMary. I am switching my book to this one. I really like the Evanovich Stephanie Plum books and am looking forward to trying a new series by her.
Oh, I hope The Outlander does work -- I'm having trouble figuring out this task, and it's been on my TBR shelf forever.

Thanks KSMary for the book suggestion. The Heist fits for me.
Suzanne wrote: "How about War Horse by Michael Morpurgo? Main page Historical, Main page Adventure, & a horse named Joey."Does not meet AR bookfinder requirements
Cait wrote: "Is History the only genre acceptable (I know it can be embedded or not) or can it be variations, like Historical, Historical Fiction or Historical Romance?"For option E, only History will be accepted, embedded is okay. "Historical..." will not qualify.
Bea wrote: "Oh my goodness, this was hard! I think I found one The Talisman Ring by Georgette HeyerPlease confirm adventure as it is the last genre on the list."
Bea, I don't believe this will work, it appears to only meet options A and B, since "Historical..." doesn't qualify for Option E.

Good job Fanbury, these work! Added to the approved list above.

Suzanne wrote: "How about War Horse by Michael Morpurgo? Main page Historical, Main page Adventure, & a horse named Joey."Suzanne, I'm sorry, this one doesn't meet the children's book qualifications, the AR rating is only 6.0.
Suzanne wrote: "Or Black Beauty by Anna Sewell - Adventure, Historical Fiction & a named horse. It has Children's as a main page genre but ARBF lists it as MG, BL 7.7 & AR Pts. 11."Suzanne, does Black Beauty have romance in it? It's been a long time since I read it, but I don't remember there being a romance in it. If not, it won't work since it only satisfies Adventure and a named horse. "Historical..." doesn't work for History.
Lauren wrote: "How about

Andrea wrote: "Would
work? It has Adventure and Historical as a genre plus a horse in the storyline."Andrea, I'm sorry, that won't work, since "Historical..." doesn't qualify for History.
Cait wrote: "I found

JennRenee wrote: "here is one that will work for adventure genre, romance, and horses with names. Vengeance Road"
Great find JennRenee, that one works! Added to the approved list above.

Good thing I changed to KSMary's book! (post 16)
I am looking at three possible books. The Moon and the Sun
B -romance on main page genre,
D - storyline includes a named horse (or two)
E - main page Science Fiction > Alternate History.
Burdens of the Dead
A - Adventure as main page genre (just)
B - from book's description - ongoing conflict between the Lord of the Dead and Benito for the love of a woman
E - main page Science Fiction > Alternate History.
Worldshaker
A - main page genre Adventure
B - main page genre Romance
E - main page Science Fiction > Alternate History.
Do these all work?
Coralie wrote: "I am looking at three possible books. The Moon and the Sun

Worldshaker
Yes, Coralie, all three work, great idea about Sci-Fi/Alternate History! Added to the approved list above.

I already had it verified as having Adventure as a main page genre by the mods. So if anyone would like to use this one (which I plan to because I couldn't find anything else) there's a posting for it in the genre verification thread. (Also it's still showing Adventure for me as 182 users so I'm not sure if it's just coming up differently at random times or what. Either way!)
JennRenee wrote: "here is one that will work for adventure genre, romance, and horses with names. Vengeance Road"
Sweet! Now if only my hold would come in through the digital library. lol. Been wanting to read that for awhile!
puppitypup wrote: "Lauren wrote: "How about

Thanks, puppitypup.
Yes, it does include a romance with a couple in a long term marriage. The heroine, Amelia Peabody is married to Radcliffe Emerson, and this appears in the GR description. Is that sufficient?
A Trail Through Time - adventure, humor and romance are all main page genres (the previous 3 books had a developing romance between the 2 main characters)Books 1 and 2 in the series (Just One Damned Thing After Another and A Symphony of Echoes) also work - romance/adventure/humor/alternate history appear on main page genres

crep, i was sure I had a winner there. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Cait, my mistake, somehow I missed seeing Adventure the first time. You are right, this book works! Added to the approved list above.

Great find Dee, those look really interesting and they work! I'll add them in above. Does Book 3 have romance as well?

I love to read, but I am an inordinately picky reader. I won't even add a book to my TBR shelf without first reading all my friends' reviews. My ideal book would be a romantic adventure with likeable characters, soaring honor, laughter, whimsy and loyal horses.
This is a one book challenge. Read a book that combines at least THREE of the following features. OPTIONAL: Post a review of your book to help me with my future reading choices!
A. Main page genre: Adventure
B. Storyline includes a romance. The romance can be anything from a crush to a long-term marriage.
C. Main page genre: Humor
D. Storyline includes a named horse, mule, pony, unicorn, or Pegasus.
E. Main page genre: History. No variations, such as Historical Romance or Historical Fiction may be used.
Main page genres may be stand alone or embedded.
REQUIRED:
(1) State which three features your book contains
(2) State how the book satisfies your storyline option(s). For a storyline including a romance, the Goodreads description or reviews must include something indicating a romance, OR, a main page genre of Romance must be listed.
For a storyline involving a horse, please include a brief explanation of your response and include the horse's name.
Examples: Range of Ghosts - A, B, D, Mort - B, C, D, Don Quixote - A, B, C and D.
