I don't think he's got a shorter temper. I think he is just a control freak with manipulative problems.

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments My feeling for Tamlin kept changing throughout the book. At the meeting with the High Lords I was so angry at him I was physically shaking. But then when he saved Feyre at the Hybern camp, I didn't want him to die. When he helped the other High Lords save Rhys I felt like he was a little redeemed. It's no excuse for the things he's pulled but I feel like he's at a good spot for his character.

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments You point out such great points. Wow.

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments Of course ;)

Naoé | 35 comments @Simona I totally agree with you I think we maybe forget a bit too fast that he suffer too even if his behaviour with Feyre is inexcusable I wish we could see his point of view when Feyre was in the Night Court

That would be nice. It's like he's just a thought while she's off at the Night Court.

Naoé | 35 comments And I think it would help us to understand him better

message 15: by Shay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Shay (shayreader) | 24 comments Yeah. I want to see what he's going through, what he's thinking.

Naoé | 35 comments Well there's 2 other novellas and 3 other books so we'll see maybe we'll have something about him

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments It would be nice if he has his own book. Maybe he could 'really' redeem himself.

Naoé | 35 comments @Kaylee I agree I really hope we'll have something like this

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments @Naoé yeah it would be nice to see how everything went down. But In his perspective.

Naoé | 35 comments @Simona @Kaylee We should ask SJM to do that XD because I think his side of the story need to be told at least in my opinion

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments @Naoé @Simona Yes!!

Naoé | 35 comments @Simona I'll never be ready to say goodbye to this world and these characters let's be honest
But I feel like Tamlin's story isn't over yet I really want to see how he's gonna try to rebuild the Spring Court and to regain the trust of everyone in it

kaylee ♡ | 57 comments I don't want their story to end either. TOG was a way longer series and in all honesty I'm not ready to leave Feyre's point of view. I'm exited to see everyone else's point of views but I'm sad to leave Feyre's.

Erin Bembridge (erinbelizabeth1) | 7 comments I just really dislike Tamlin even more now that I'm reading ACOWAR... At first I didn't really care but now, I hate his guts...😂

Kelly | 31 comments After ACOMAF of course I hated him, and in the beginning of ACOWAR, it still felt...I wanted to punch him, and for him to get some sort of justice dealt for everything he did, not just to Feyre, but selling out her sisters and working with Hybern.

I think he did redeem himself after saving Feyre and the others in the camp- that really made me think twice about everything. It's clear he still loves her. But when he saved Rhys...I don't think he was going to until Feyre practically begged him to. I found this on Pinterest which explains that part quite well, comparing it to AOCTAR:

https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/AVlOg...

I know he suffered Under the Mountain, but he never dealt with any of it properly and it turned him into a bigger control freak than he already was- I just don't think we saw in ACOTAR because we were looking at him through Feyre's eyes.

So maybe I don't want him to die anymore at least. I suppose I want him to find someone who can make him change...but I don't think I'm ever going to like him again.

✎• нυѕηαн | 3 comments I liked Tamlin in ACOTAR. Till date I haven't read ACOMAF because I know my opinion of Tamlin will change. I know what kind of manipulative and control freak he is. I just don't want to view him in another light so I'm putting off reading ACOMAF. Am I the only one who for fear of disliking a character put off from reading the next book in a series? I think I'm weird.. :)

You won't regret reading ACOMAF, honest. :D Rhys is very wonderful.

I know what you mean though. I was actually quite surprised at how much, how quickly, my feelings on Tamlin changed. But then, the planning Mass must have done to get us all on his side, to filter it all so carefully to get us to see him how Feyre did...is really brilliant.

Tracey-J (traceyj28) | 2 comments I actually wrote a blog post about Tamlin a couple of months ago if anyone is interested in reading it?

Kelly | 31 comments TJ wrote: "I actually wrote a blog post about Tamlin a couple of months ago if anyone is interested in reading it?"

I found it and it's a great post. I completely agree with all of this and don't understand why we'd need any of it from Tamlin's POV. This may get a little long- I suppose I'll have a rant too. :)
But I've found it's not just Feyre, but also Lucien, which is why I'm so glad he got out of the Spring Court in ACOWAR. You might have heard many people saying that Lucien is what Feyre would be without the Night Court's support. I think they're right. So long as he stays with them too, I think he'll be alright. I hope he becomes his own person too.

Lucien is supposed to be his friend, yet Tamlin controls him just as much- is verbally abusive to him and threatens to kill him- or close enough. There are plenty of instances: In the ACOMAF scene after the Tithe, and in ACOWAR, after he and Feyre set the Bogge on the Hybern twins.
When Feyre plays them both in ACOWAR, the line goes, "I waited for the five minutes it took Tamlin to decide not to kill Lucien." Seriously??

He's just manipulative and I think his jealousy comes from some underlying issues because of his awful behaviour to everyone.
It doesn't even come down to his being High Lord, as he likes to remind everyone. Rhys doesn't act this way with his family and he's a High Lord.

I agree the writing of it all has been brilliant, because no one really read too much into it in ACOTAR- at least, I didn't. Tamlin was the 'good guy' and seeing it through Feyre's eyes, we believed it.
While I don't want Tamlin dead anymore (he did redeem himself somewhat in ACOWAR), I still hate him, but wish someone would come along and help him deal with his issues. If he's going to have any sort of future, he can't carry on as he has been.

That's a good point. I can't imagine growing up around Beron would have been easy either. And after what they did to him there, I was actually quite surprised when we found out in ACOWAR Lucien had decorated his bedroom in Autumn Court colours.

I hope he will, regardless of the mating bond with Elain- though part of me also wants to work out- but Lucien deserves happiness. Yes I really like his character. :) Maybe one day Tamlin will learn to be better towards him, as I think they have had *some* moments where they care about each other.

That wasn't where my brain automatically went and I'd almost forgotten that part. I suppose now we know why Lucien's mother was always close to him. Maybe also as a way of remembering his first love too.

katherine (an_everyday_penguin) | 13 comments I don't like Tamlin very much, obviously, but I feel like it's more complicated in that. In ACOTAR I kind of liked him. He really wasn't that bad until Under the Mountain. But even then, I just felt really bad for him. The girl he loved was being tortured in front of him and if he did anything it would have probably made things even worse. I'm sure Amarantha would have made Feyre's torture even worse. I disagree with Rhys that Tamlin should have used his one shot with Feyre to get her out. Amarantha would have slaughtered fairies in her anger and sent creatures to hunt Feyre down. And since she was human, she wouldn't have made it very far before she was caught and Amarantha would punish her.
I just don't really understand Tamlin's character shift in ACOMAF. He wasn't that controlling in ACOTAR (I could be wrong, I don't really remember ACOTAR as well, but from what I can remember he wasn't a control freak), and then all of a sudden he refuses to let Feyre do anything even though he knows she's more than capable of handling it. Feyre, for her part, just gives up. Yes, Tamlin should have noticed she was wasting away, but you can't blame all of that on Tamlin. And about sending Lucien after Feyre, I saw a post once I can't get out of my head where Tamlin didn't know Feyre could write. He knew she was illiterate and then she just runs away and sends him a note saying to not come after her.
I do, however, have a problem with Tamlin betraying them to Hybern. That was just cold and at the meeting with the High Lords I could not stand him. But he did get his redemption when he helped Feyre get out of Hybern's camp, when he forced Beron to bring his army to help fight, and when he helped revive Rhys.
I will always ship Feysand and there are definitely inexcusable things that Tamlin did, but I don't hate him (much). I kind of just pity him.

Fireheart Yes... I do too

Brittany (brittanybiesboergmailcom) | 70 comments While tamlin did a lot of crappy things to try to get feyre back in my mind one of the worst things was you find out he killed the sentries who were on duty when feyre was taken by mor.

Amber Wunder (awunder17) | 4 comments ^^@brittany I totally forgot he did that 😱😱

Brittany (brittanybiesboergmailcom) | 70 comments Amber wrote: "^^@brittany I totally forgot he did that 😱😱"
Yeah feyre mentions it in a court of wings and ruin. And I don't know why but even though it's a small thing compared to betraying them to hybern, it gets to me.

Amber Wunder (awunder17) | 4 comments It’s messed up for sure! Though a bit different it totally just reminded me of the time Amarantha killed all her slaves instead of releasing them when she was supposed to...

katherine (an_everyday_penguin) | 13 comments Ok I still think Tamlin is a lot more complicated than he seems. This is going to be spoilers so don't read until after you've read ACOFAS

(view spoiler)

Okay rant done. I know Rhys said to not compare him to Tamlin but there are similarities between the two listed above, like they both lost a lot and they both watched the love of their lives be tortured, etc. I'm also not going to say that what Tamlin did in ACOMAF was excusable because he really shouldn't have done that, but I think there's a lot more to his character than it seems. And yeah actions speak louder than words and blah blah blah but I think he's more complicated than just Feyre's shitty, controlling ex boyfriend. I'm also not saying we should all go hug him and tell him it's going to be okay and love him, but I don't think people should hate him as much as they do because he's a lot more complicated. Which I've said like a hundred times, but maybe other people will finally realize that too instead of just hating on him.

lorena | 56 comments Yeah, I don't HATE HATE Tamlin but I don't like him. I mean, I felt terrible for him after his court basically fell apart in ACOWAR when Feyre escaped. But he kind of just went crazy in ACOMAF but I think he'll be redeemed in the next few books.

This is good, you make some great points about what a complicated character he is

message 46: by Sonagi (last edited Jun 06, 2018 10:09AM) (new)

Sonagi (sonagi_shower) I read the ACOTAR series without any spoilers so I did not know who would end up with who.
Tamlin was just horrible. He wasn't evil he was just a horrible character for someone who has a decent enough background. In ACOTAR we, or at least, I saw all the red flags about his personality. Him being a controlling, manipulating freak with anger management issues. He manipulated Feyre to love him to lift the curse which led him to fall for her too seeing how Feyre darling is unique for a puny mortal. This kindness made Feyre love him too. BUT it does not excuse the fact that he SAT on his ass while this innocent human girl you dragged in your world suffered. He did not sit on his sorry butt for Feyre but because he was a spineless coward. Lucien's neck was at risk too but he did everything to visit her in her cell and help her heal. Yet all he did was to break free from Amarantha in her last day of trial because he knew all hope was lost. He just wanted to play with his little plaything one last time. And when ACOMAF came, his attitude was not because he was traumatized in Under the Mountain, but because we see who he truly is. The control freak High Lord who knew nothing about love and making his people prosper. So I don't get the people who did not continue ACOMAF because 'precious' Tamlin turned out to be the bad guy. I believe they are ignorant because they missed his true nature pre-ACOMAF.

message 47: by Sonagi (last edited Jun 06, 2018 10:29AM) (new)

Sonagi (sonagi_shower) To add, I beg to differ about him being complicated. He was a one dimensional immortal who with more age would have ended up like Beron. He could have helped Feyre Under the Mountain. Amarantha WANTS him. She would not do anything to him and she definitely won't kill Feyre out of spite for Tamlin helping her because they made a bargain that she would do three trials. I mean Tamlin isn't really unique, there are many like him in other books, but the difference is those others develop and would risk their lives for the people they love. Heck even Fenrys and Gavriel did everything they could whilst being controlled by the blood oath for Maeve to stop whipping Aelin and Tamlin just sat. Good showing of love there, bud. And I do not pity him at all. Revenge is sweet. It's what he deserves.

Jenny | 1 comments I maybe the only one left here who still believe in Tamlin. I feel like SJM did a very unfair character assasination towards him. To those who hate Tamlin so much please please care to read this post too: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

It kinda breaks my heart what happened to his character. After all, he's like my first love in the ACOTAR series and one of the reasons why i started liking it besides my emphathy towards Feyre(on the first book, but gotten tired and disappointed on her character on the following stories), and the magic this story brought. I hope SJM decides to redeem his character and show his POV.

I couldn't agree more. I don't agree with how Tamlin treated Feyre or Lucien. BUT I felt like Sarah made him suicidal and depressed and we were supposed to just what? Shrug? He also helped Feyre and Azriel, fought against Hybern, MADE Berin fight, and helped save Rhys. Does that make up for his emotional and verbal abuse toward feyre and Lucien? Of course not but I still think he tried to be a good male and regretted his actions towards them. I don't like tamlin but I don't hate him and he deserves to be treated a little better.

Sandi | 5 comments Geez people really do hate tamlin. I for one didn't really care much about him in ACOTAR since he just didn't really appeal to me. Though I dont agree about him being one dimensional as some people have put it. If it wasn't for tamlin none of that stuff would of happened to feyre and the archerons would of continued to struggle. Elain would of been made to marry that guy, Nesta wouldn't have met Cassian and there wouldn't be this story. I believe Feyre used tamlin as a stepping stool to get where she wanted in life. Even though it didn't turn out the way she wanted it to. I believe that you can love someone to much and that was what Tamlin did. Do I condone feyre's choice for ruining him in the end after all he did for her? No. Do I think tamlin deserves a redemption? Hell yea. I believe he can learn from his mistakes. I mean he lost everything and feyre was the tipping point of the iceberg. People claim that tamlin didn't do anything under the mountain and thats just not true. Feyre liberated everyone and Tamlin was the one who inevitably finished the job. I feel like Elain is the type of person who could get with him because she's what he always wanted essentially, and elain fits thats description.
