roxanne | 13 comments I didn't really care for him in the first book nor do I now. However, I don't think he is as bad a people say. Looking back, there are a few things in the first book I wholeheartedly disagree with. First, I do not see the appeal to Stockholm syndrome, which is what essentially happened in ACOTAR. Next, that scene when Amarantha was killing Feyre, Tamlin stayed back and begged as Rhysand actually fought for her. I do believe that Feyre has never really had anyone to take care of her, so, she straight out fell in love with the first person that came and did that. As for Tamlin, I do think he truly loves her and has good intentions, but he miserably failed at expressing it. At the beginning of ACOMAF, his actions were terribly selfish, he locked her up for his own peace of mind without considering how she would feel. I feel like Tamlin lives by the expression "The ends justify the means", which is just completely false. He didn't care what he had to do in order to reach his desired ending. Even though it was as pure as protecting Feyre, he committed multiple wrongs while doing so. Do I believe he deserves redemption? Yes, I do. I think this experience has taught him a lot. He did try to redeem himself several times throughout the series. He went undercover with the king of Hyburn even though nobody believed in him. He participated in bringing Rhys back to life as well. However, no matter how many things he does, I don't think he will ever be able to move forward until he forgives himself.

Finn Krol | 3 comments I feel like Tamlin just has a lot of unresolved issues, hence his stupidity throughout the books?

He’s just...a bit of a mess... and can’t really see out of his little cave... which is really sad :(

Casey Bee | 2 comments ONLY READ THIS IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE SERIES:

I didn't like Tamlin in the first book. Rhys has ALWAYS appealed to me way more because I am always attracted to the darker and dangerous. As we learned more about both characters as the series went on, things come into perspective and into light on both of their true natures. Anyway, back to Tam. When you're reading through the series for the first time you only know what you know, there is no hindsight until you're finished. I didn't realize how controlling Tamlin was until Feyre realizes it herself. I feel like (the first time through) we look at Tam through rose colored glasses just like Feyre does. Our opinions and perspective on him doesn't start to become too clear until hers do. THEN when you look back on it you're like "wow, he's always been a controlling dick". THAT BEING SAID.... I feel bad for Tamlin and what his life ultimately turns into. I believe that he truly loved Feyre and I believe that his actions, even if wrong, were not done with ill-intention. He loved her and smothered her because of it, but he didn't mean to, it was his crazy protectiveness. She changed and he couldn't adapt his love with her. Yes, he was wrong. She was suffering and he failed to see it and correct his ways, but he did love her. Ultimately, because I feel his intentions were not bad and I really don't think he is a bad guy, I feel bad for him when his whole life and Court falls apart. I don't think he deserves that. His heart getting crushed and losing Feyre is punishment enough, robbing him of the rest of his identity isn't necessary. Truly, I feel bad for him. Am I the only one who feerls this way?
