This is one of my all time favorite books so I'm so excited to reread!!

I liked the opening chapter!
I think it maybe would’ve helped if I had of read the Grisha books first though.

I've Chapters 1-6, so I'm up to Part 2.

It was a little hard for me to get into it in the start. I kept thinking that the characters from the Grisha Verse would be in it. I can't remember then that well though.

Kaz is a pretty standard crook. Smart. I wonder what the cane is for.
I think I like Inej the most. I'm liking her ability to melt into the dark.

I've finished the first section as well. This is a reread for me, so the world makes a little more sense. :)

Nicole, I didn't finish the Grisha books, and once I got beyond the first part of the book, I found it didn't really refer back to the other books at all.

I'm biased for a not so nice hero, so I love Kaz. But I agree Inej's backstory and skills are the most interesting so far.

I tried to read the Grisha books, but stopped after the first as I just did not enjoy it much.
This is a reread for me as well, I haven't gotten very far but I should be able to get more in in the next few days.

Up to Chapter 19: I really like Nina & her friendship with Inez. I also like Jesper & Weylan. Kaz is a great character, very complex but he’s difficult to like because he doesn’t show any emotion & comes off quite cold.

Now, having read the book before, I love Kaz's mention of Jordie, when Nina mentions the anger in Inez's face when talking about the Menagerie. It's all well thought out. Giving us a little hint at a backstory without knowing what has happened. (hide spoiler)]

I'm through the second section. I remember this is the part of the story where i did not like Matthias very much. I enjoy the growing friendship between Inez and Nina and Jesper and Wyland. I feel a little like Jesper though and ready to get on with the job already!

I just finished the second chapter. A lot if still being set up. I'm not fully into it yet but I like the writing style so far.

Just got started today and finished part 1.

Inez is my favorite character so far. (view spoiler)[Her ability to blend in and not be noticed is extraordinary. I also love that even though she has obviously had a horrible time in the past couple of years she still holds on to her faith and seems to have her own kind of code. (hide spoiler)]

Kaz seems like an extremely smart crook. I find him interesting to read about but wouldn't want to actually meet him. I'm not sure that I really like him at this point.

The job - (view spoiler)[That new drug is beyond dangerous, and I'm with Nina that the safest course would be to kill the inventor after they make sure he is the only one who can manufacture the drug. The extraction has me intrigued. I'm curious as to why the job is so hard and how they will do it. (hide spoiler)]

I’ve just read the first three chapters but will be reading more today. I love the descriptions of the Grisha powers and what they can do when they are “supercharged”. Looking forward to watching Kaz put this job together. This is a reread for me, but it feels like the first time!

I'm about 2/3 of the way through and the jail break is underway! Hoping to get close to the end on audio today and tomorrow on my drive to work, and will then probably read the rest to finish it out on Sunday.

So good, but I'm finding the continued flashbacks in the middle of a high intensity situation a bit annoying. Good backstory, but would have preferred to get it mostly done before we started the job.

The crew - (view spoiler)[They have a nearly impossible task, and there is so much dissension that I can't imagine them succeeding. The fact that Nina and Matthias have decided the prisoner needs to be killed, while the others think they are getting him out alive is just another fracture that leads to failure. I know Kaz is good at reading people, but I'm not sure even he can anticipate and plan for the massive number of variables in this job. (hide spoiler)]

Kaz - (view spoiler)[the eyeball scene - I did not see that coming and was actually a bit disgusted to read that! I love the moments we see him being a brilliant crook but I sort of appreciate the ruthless moments. We see him live up to his name (hide spoiler)]

Inej and Nina - These two girls are close to my heart. I like who they've become considering their pasts.

Mattias - He definitely grew on me. I'm happy with how he turned out (view spoiler)[ he and Nina (hide spoiler)]

Jesper and Wylan - I want more. I feel like we see more of Jesper than Wylan in the book. I hope in Crooked Kingdom we get more of these two!

Part 5: The Ice Does Not Forgive
I love how this whole thing unfolds, I think the flashbacks break up the intensity a bit, which is good for me...get the story and understand the characters better while letting me breathe. Even though I know what's going to happen, I still get nervous-lol

The heist was crazy, chaotic, and brilliant. I was not expecting the cliffhanger.
