Hello Horror Lovers!I'm posting this to let you know about an incredible book festival which takes place in Aberdeen and online every year: Granite Noir, which will be back again in just under a month!
Granite Noir is North East Scotland's biggest festival for noir fiction - in all its forms - and we're once again broadcasting some of our most exciting talks so you can watch along from wherever you are in the world!
Just head to our website for full details and tickets: https://www.aberdeenperformingarts.co...
This year's festival promises to bring many more fascinating discussions and engaging workshops, with authors, publishers, and creatives coming from across the globe to take part.
Granite Noir - Dare To Be There!
Hi all!Very excited to have found this group. I'm a music journalist from Southern California, primarily writing about heavy metal and rock for a number of British magazines. Over the years, I've happily noted the robust correlation between metal and horror, which I suppose is fairly unsurprising. :)
By the end of 2022, I found myself dredging the toxic sludge of Twitter far too much -- nearly always leaving the site more depressed, anxious or annoyed than when I logged on. So I deactivated that account and resolved to use that time for happier and more inspired pursuits. Enter, you guys! I'm looking forward to spending more time on GoodReads and hopefully gleaning some groovy new tips from you all in the coming months. I promise to contribute my own as well. :)
In my spare time, I enjoy playing bass, guitar, ice hockey and letting my two dogs push me around.
I look forward to meeting everybody!
Joe

Welcome, Joe! I can definitely relate to the Twitter sludge sentiment. Was spending way too much time on there, and getting so little out of it. This site has been a much needed kick in the rear to get out of that habit.

Hi! Hi!I’m Tara - Extra glad to have found a like group of bibliophiles!
I’m an artist from the Twin Cities and dig a variety of alternative things. Looking forward to recommendations, reviews, thoughts and stories! Cheers!
@Joe: Welcome and the MOMENT I saw heavy metal and rock writer, I sent a friend request from one metalhead to another \m/This group is amazing and yeah, I did the same thing. I mostly use Goodreads and my Facebook Author Page. I'd honestly be surprised if Twitter was even still around by June with how toxic and terrible it is these days.
Looking forward to discussing horror books with you and well, grab a virtual shot of Jager to the left and enjoy all the awesomeness this group brings :-D
@Tara: Welcome and hell yeah! This group has all of that and then some, excited to chat books with you over time :-)
hello! I'm lu. I am 19, almost 20 years old. My favorite literary genres are romance and fantasy, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and explore different genres. Nice to meet you :)

So many new friends here since I last checked! Hello to all and welcome to HA! I look forward to seeing you around the pages of the group and around GoodReads!
Hi, y'all I'm Coco or Courtney. I am 18. A newly adult. still figuring out life. I adore reading and will read almost anything if it has a good plot twist to it. I have also read horror/thriller books. Mostly thriller. I don't know if you would count biography of serial killers a horror book, but that is mostly what I read now a days. I am a fast reader but, since college is taking up a lot of my time it's harder to finish books. Nice to meet ya'll : )

If you like haunted houses, The Good House by Tananarive Due is great!!
Hello everyone! I’m Yostin, just turned 25 not too long ago. This is my first book group/community and I’m very excited to read plenty of horror with you all! I already started one of the books for February, so I think I’m off to a good start. Cheers!
hi, my name is kaytlan, and i just started reading again last year and because i am raising 2 tiny humans i don't get to watch much horror stuff, so i read it instead! looking forward to all of the recommendations. I'm currently reading How to Sell a Haunted House by Hendrix
Kimberly wrote: "Welcome Yostin! Which book did you start?"I just finished reading Bad Cree, so I picked up the southern book club guide to slaying vampires!

@Luu: Welcome and so cool you want to get out of your reading comfort zone and come to the dark side of horror! We have virtual iced coffees and blueberry scones so make yourself at home :-)
@Coco: Welcome and very cool! I'd count biographies of serial killers as horror books since, well, they're legit real horror and all. Good luck with college :-)
@Yostin: Welcome and happy belated birthday! You came to an amazing group and hell yeah, you will love all the great horror recommendations and new authors here. I found so many thanks to HA :-)
@Kaytlan: Welcome and your two tiny humans are adorable! We match as I'm also reading (and loving!) HTSAHH... it's amazing so far. Happy reading :-)
Hey! I'm Dana and I love all things horror. I'm currently studying Japanese linguistics and American lit & culture - I try to focus on horror and literary monsters in my American Studies classes, cause there's a lot of fascinating stuff to research. My last term paper was about It Follows, it's an incredible movie imo.Last horror book I've read was Pontypool Changes Everything by Tony Burgess (though I didn't like it as much as I had hoped). Chances are I won't be too active, but I'm excited to rummage through some recommendations!
