Good Afternoon! My name is Brian James I love horror (both movies and books) and will passionately defend the 2007, Rob Zombie version of Halloween as a masterpiece with the all the enthusiasm of a 90 year old sports fan getting angry about the designated hitter rule. I also believe that Stephen King is both the best and worst thing to ever happen to the horror genre. I look forward to being part of the group!
Hello! My name is Allen Rivers. I'm a huge horror fan (especially Stephen King) and I especially love diving into some good horror in autumn. I've dabbled in horror writing and have a novel coming out through the serial publisher, Episodic Reading. Happy to be here and connecting with fellow horror aficionados!
Brian wrote: "Hiya! Do you have a spoiler free description of your novel?"Thanks for your interest Brian! I plan to do more formal promoting in the appropriate sections of Goodreads, but I really appreciate your question. Here's a little summary:
Home isn’t always where the heart is.
For John Darrow, a product of rural poverty and trauma, home is the dark blotches hiding in the corner of his mind, the memories he wished he could wash away but remain forever imprinted into his psyche. John escaped the grips of generational poverty, transposing his nightmares to page and becoming a New York Times best selling author, but when a mysterious letter arrives, offering him a free three-day retreat at the luxurious Traveler’s Inn, John journeys home to rediscover his roots.
Welcomed to the magnificent lodge-style retreat, John begins appreciating home in a new way. But the mysterious Jasper Winters, manager of the inn, and the employees all raise doubts in John. Between the whispers and sideways looks, it’s almost as if this is some sort of production, trims and trappings of the getaway all a distraction…
Joined by reporter Erica Hirsch, John descends deeper into the sordid history of the lake region, from shady business dealings, to unexplained disappearances, to outright murder, with the Traveler’s Inn at the center of it all. But beyond the people and the stories there is something else. Visions and movements in the shadows, strange creaks and noises at night, frightening hallucinations and violent nightmares. The answer to the mystery lies beyond the periphery, in a darkness nether John nor Erica wish to explore, but one which has summoned them both.
It’s time to understand home for the first time.

There is an author promotional section where you can find these things out. We try to keep the introduction thread for just that, and have separate threads for other topics. :)

Hey everyone, I’m Matt. Just started getting back into reading and my favorite genre Horror. Love movies and books of horror just the same. Just got the Haunting of Hill House.
Hi! My name’s Mark McLaughlin. I’ve been on Goodreads for years, but I’m usually so busy writing and working on projects, I forget to go out and introduce myself to people. Here’s my bio page, if you want to give it a look. I always welcome new friends: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
I write mostly horror and dark fantasy. Some of my recent projects include a huge Kindle story collection, THE WEIRD WORLD OF MARK McLAUGHLIN MEGAPACK® from Wildside Press ... HUMAN DOLL, a tale of suspense and murder set in the entertainment industry ... and THE HELL NEXT DOOR, a novel of horror and the supernatural.
Many of my works are set in the literary tradition of H.P. Lovecraft. With my best friend and collaborator, Michael Sheehan, Jr., we’ve written several paperback story collections in this vein, including HORRORS & ABOMINATIONS, THE PRISONER OF CARCOSA, CITY OF LIVING SHADOWS, and THE HOUSE OF THE OCELOT.
My most recent release is the Cthulhu Mythos horror novel, INJECTABLES: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
When I’m not writing, I’m usually cooking or playing with my enormous Bombay tomcat. :-)
Greetings and salutations friendo Mark.
While we're always happy to meet authors in the group, we keep this thread to basic introductions. You can promote your works in this designated section of the group: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Hi! I've been into weird, supernatural and horror all my life. Anyone remember "The Pan Book(s) of horror?" 'speshly into F. Paul Wilson, King (of course) but have a huge collection of English horror both books and film. Have just written my debue supernatural/horror thriller, so honoured to call myself an author!
Hi my name is Stefanie. I am looking for some new suggestions on authors. I tend to find an author and devour everything they have ever written. I have not always been an avid reader so there might be some older authors that I have never heard of. Currently reading everything Bentley Little.
Greetings and salutations friendo Stefanie.

Welcome Stefanie! I agree with Alan, just look around. I’m sure you’ll find something to your taste.
Hi all! I've just recently got into the horror genre and can't wait to read and be involved in discussions. My current read at the moment is The Hollow Ones By Chuck Hogan and Guillermo del Toro.
Hello everyone! My name is Alec and I’m from Michigan. Horror was my first love as a genre, as a young kid I think my first adult read was Peter Benchley’s Beast, and it didn’t take long for me to discover the greats, from King and Lovecraft to Ellison and Jackson and many, many others. Recently I’ve been delving into the wonderfully horrible tales of Joyce Carol Oates; I’ve not been able to forget Big Momma for days now! I also dabble in writing; one of my novellas was adapted by the NoSleep podcast and I’m always working on something. In the dreary world of the real I’m an attorney and I live in Flint with my husband and two other slightly more furry companions.
