I cant believe the King was willing to trade Dorian for Aelin, tho I shouldn’t be surprised really, it’s exactly the kind of thing he’d do.
I can’t handle Dorian and Chaol crying together near the end, they’re so damn cute. Chaol sacrificing himself so Aelin could get Dorian away tho 😍 also... love that Chaol is the king’s hand (King Dorian, wooo!)!

One of my favourite parts was “The human is still inside him.” Like, Manon, you beautiful thing... way to save the day! And was the thing Kaltain gave Manon the wyrdkey?! What kind of a sick freak puts a wyrdkey inside a human woman!

I’ve gotta say, I had no clue the King was gonna turn out to be enslaved too. I just thought he was bad! Fooled me.
As it was building up to it, I was really hoping that Perrington was not going to be Erawan... but there we go.

Elide has got away and knows that Aelin, Aedion and Ren are all alive and she’s going to find them... what a great moment for her. I love that it’s starting to come together, everyone finding each other again... hopefully she’s going to make it okay. Though knowing the kind of book/world it is, I can imagine she’ll find trouble along the way.

Loved the ending! Nearly cried for most of it; all the crying, all the cute moments, all the future happiness.

Aelin, who was Celaena at the time, and Sam took one last mission so that they could have some more money to leave Adarlan. They had both already paid off their loans to Arobynn. The mission was to kill the crime lord in the city who happened to be one of Arobynn's business partners. What happened was that it was actually a setup and Arobynn and the second of the crime lord conspired together to get Sam to kill the crime lord so that he could become the lord and then Arobynn would be able to do better business with him as he shows him his position. Sam not knowing this killed the crime lord and then got captured by his second.**slight spoilers for later in this book** Arobynn then requests specific torture to be done on Sam and then killed so that he can't leave with Celaena. What annoys me the most about Chaol is how he reacts to Aelin. HE betrayed HER and then sent her off across the continent, then has the audacity to be angry at her because she wasn’t there when it all went down, as well as for her history.
Didn’t seem to care about it all that much when when he was sleeping with her but as soon as he messes up, she’s the worst thing in the world??
At least Aelin still battles with her feelings for him, he seemed to turn it to anger pretty quickly. (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[This book was incredible. I didn't find the first half slow exactly, but the second one was definitely my favourite, as it was filled with scenes of blood and action.

My love for Asterin quickly grew over the course of this book and learning her tragic backstory cemented that. I'm glad she chose to share it with Manon and I'm glad it was one of the catalysts that allowed Manon to change her stance on the use of the other witches.

My love for Aelin also grew when seeing her so soft for Rowan and how she freed Lysandra and Evangeline from their debts. The final battle was brutal and I'm so glad she and all her court survived it. I didn't know whether to believe the king's final reveal or not, at first. It will alter everything!

The ending was so bittersweet it made me sob. I loved seeing the characters reunited and at temporary peace, even if Dorian is haunted by the valg and Chaol is now unable to walk. I can't wait to see more of Terresan in the next book. (hide spoiler)]

I think you actually find out all of the details you will get in this one. The Assasin's blade short stories are all from before she gets betrayed so Sam is still alive in them.

(view spoiler)[Chaol redeemed himself by sacrificing himself for Dorian. He also seems to have come to terms with the fact that Aelin has magic and that doesn't make her a monster which is good.

So glad that Manon is seeing the truth of her grandmother and slowly changing her ways. She really saved Dorian by getting that message there just in time.

Elide is so precious. I really hope she finds the rest of the Teressan court safely. It's funny that she is now looking for Celaena too without knowing that it is Aelin. (hide spoiler)]
