I started reading it a year ago, as i had read The Hobbit and loved it...but i didn't get to finish it, so i'm taking it up aga..."Hello Niki :) I haven't gotten round to reading LOTR yet. Exams are approaching, and i didn't want to dive into a series at this point (Tolkien especially deserves some time) The Silmarillion, eh? Does it take place before the LOTR? Should I be reading it first?
I'm going for stand-alones right now. Just finished The curious incident of the dog in the night time, and moved on to Peter Pan.
Silmarillion starts from the creation of the world, part of which is middle earth, it is something like a genesis and tales of legends, great elves and later men. I find the stories more fascinating because I saw the lotr movies first so I was a bit bored when i read the lotr trilogy. It is not many pages and has many chapters so it can be easily read. Wish you success in your exams!
Thank you Niki :) I'll see if I can squeeze it in my schedule :P sounds really good! maybe it'll help me understand later events better. I haven't seen the movies yet, so no problem there.

I'm currently reading The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. Andsurprise: it's a diary. I like diaries and since it's a thriller, it will increase suspense and my feelings.
Oh, I have read this one, The Girl on the Train. It was good. Temme if you like it.
I wish to know members interested in the novels of Anthony Trollope. Trollope was a 19th century writer and his novels, mostly romance, are similar to those of Jane Austen. However, though Jane Austen wrote only some six or seven books, Trollope has written over a hundred.Of his novels, I have just completed re-listening to “Framley Parsonage” and I am now re-listening “Doctor Thorne”.
Trollope is famous for his series of six “Barsetshire” novels, of which “Framley Parsonage” and “Doctor Thorne” form part, and for his series of six “Palliser” novels. I have the print, eBook and audio versions of all twelve books as well as those of some of his other books. They are all in the public domain. https://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...
I've added a book to my currently reading list, it's one that I've got to do a review for this Saturday: 'Energize Your Life' by Del Millers.
Sushil please use the appropriate thread for promoting your book.(https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...)
I see you're spamming with the same message twice - here and on the Intro thread.
Sorry, I'll be removing your messages.

In my tbr since the begining of time, ugh! Had there not been 5-6 books in my currently-reading shelf, I would be joining you for this book.

This is the Shakespeare month for me... MACBETH, OTHELLO and now HAMLET. Tragedies by the bard have won me over.
I just finished The Kite Runner and gave it a 5 star rating. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Now I want read another book by Khaled Hosseini... any suggestions? A Thousand Splendid Suns or And the Mountains Echoed.... thoughts...?
Im leaning towards one but I want to pick the best one to read over the Easter Holiday (next week). Any help appreciated.
Well, you already picked his best ;)I loved Mountains echoed much more than 1000 splendid. Connected with me in more than a way and the way of narration was also very different. But that's just me.
You should read both of them. No matter what sequence you decide :)
Going by the chronology of published works, if I were you, would have picked 1000 splendid suns (2007) over mountains echoed (2013).

Hello Priya! I am reading Silmarillion and find it so much better than the lord of Rings. If you've read it, I d be glad to share experiences. It really is, as a friend of mine once described it, like a hundred "Lords of the Rings" together. ;)
