Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments A set of ideas. I don't think I will be doing all of the challenges since I am focused on reading Star Wars novels but I will of course count any that matches a challenge.

1) How To Kill A Mockingbird (Very Literally Titled Books) by Takin G. Thepiss (I probably won't read this one since I don't own it but it was the only book that came to my mind when making this list.)
2) Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
3) The Krytos Trap (Star Wars X-Wing, #3) by Michael A. Stackpole (This one I am reading and about to complete the book so of course it won't end up counting. Part of the story has one of the main characters with memory loss though, so it works for someone else that wants to use it.)
4) Dracula by Bram Stoker
5) Dark Force Rising (Star Wars The Thrawn Trilogy, #2) by Timothy Zahn
6) Heir to the Empire (Star Wars The Thrawn Trilogy, #1) by Timothy Zahn (A main character is a mom or soon becomes one, I'll change this if the character does not become a mom in it.)
7) The Bacta War (Star Wars X-Wing, #4) by Michael A. Stackpole (Was a bestseller back when it came out, I believe... but I see myself reading this before the challenge starts.)

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments Thanks again Rachel!
i'm gonna start this challenge by reading The Bird Room by Chris Killen

message 14: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I have one of two books I will be starting with by the time the challenge starts.

DEAR=LukE SkywAlkeR and the ShaDows of Mindor

OR

Bestseller= Wraith Squadron

It will just depend on if the library gets my copy of Luke Skywalker in by the time I finish my current book I am reading.

message 15: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments You're welcome Jenn :)

Thanks for the updates, Jenn & Josh!

message 16: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I am officially reading Wraith Squadron now. The library is too slow for my pace of reading. lol.

message 17: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments I read The Client by John Grisham , which works for #7. Not into legal thrillers, but really enjoyed this book!

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments Thanks for the update, Danell :)

message 19: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments read The Death Cure The Death Cure (Maze Runner, #3) by James Dashner for task 5 (has d-e-a-r in the title)

decent end to the trilogy but the first book is so much better than the last 2.

message 20: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I finished my first book for this challenge,Wraith Squadron by Aaron Allston. It fits the Best Seller task. Personally this book was alright. I would only recommend this one for the hardcore Star Wars fan that wants to know everything about Star Wars.

7) Wraith Squadron (Star Wars X-Wing, #5) by Aaron Allston

Now I am reading Iron Fist by Aaron Allston... fits the best seller challenge, and is the second book in the Wraith Squadron series... I hope it is better than the first.

And now I know I have about 70 Star Wars books to read before Episode VII comes out December 2015... since the movie takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi and that in the timeline of the novels is right after the New Jedi Order era of novels. So yeah, I have the New Republic Era to read and New Jedi Knight Era. I have a feeling I will be reading a lot of Star Wars between this year and next. So yeah, 6 down, 64 to go. =D

message 21: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments Thanks for the update Josh!

64 to go :O- you're obviously a die hard fan-enjoy! :)

message 22: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Yeps, I am. Star Wars is my second favorite movie series! Number one of course being Jurassic Park.

message 23: by Rachel (last edited Mar 21, 2014 03:40PM) (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments finished Blindsighted Blindsighted (Grant County, #1) by Karin Slaughter
(was a bestseller)

message 24: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I finished Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
Its a book told in emails and letters. Its pretty funny especially if you know anything about Seattle.

message 25: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Sounds like I would get the humor.

Of course you can join us for the challenge, Fato :)

just an fyi-you don't have to read a bestseller-to technically complete the challenge-complete any 3 of the 7 tasks listed above by the end of may-this challenge is all about having fun so the important thing is just to enjoy yourself and read some great books!

message 31: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple is on my tbr list and was hoping for suggestions for that task! YEAH!!

message 32: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Just finished another challenge, though I dont know if I want to count it as a Bestseller OR Memory Impaired. In the book there are a couple of really short scenes that Gara believes she might have the real Lara. I guess it would be more of a subplot. The book I read is Iron Fist by Aaron Allston.

Anyways, Iron Fist was better than I thought it would be. It still isnt one of the best Star Wars books I read but better I expected. I recommend it Star Wars fans, not just die hard fans this time.

Solo Command by Aaron Allston is the book I am starting. It is the last book in the Star Wars: X-Wing: Wraith Squadron Trilogy. It once again fits into the Bestseller Challenge.

I am currently re-reading one of my favorite books for the 5th time. Stay Awake was published in 2012 and is a collection of stories in which more than one character has a a memory impairment :-)
Stay Awake by Dan Chaon

message 35: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments thanks for the update dc! i really have to read stay awake-it's been on my tbr for a long time.

message 36: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Just finished another challenge. Solo Command completes Best Seller for me for a second time! =D

Star Wars novels 8 of 70. 62 left.

3) Iron Fist (Star Wars X-Wing, #6) by Aaron Allston
7) Wraith Squadron (Star Wars X-Wing, #5) by Aaron Allston Solo Command (Star Wars X-Wing, #7) by Aaron Allston

The next book I am currently tackling makes go back in time to before the X-Wing novels took place in the Star Wars timeline - mainly cause I skipped since I didn't own it - Star Wars: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor It features the word DEAR in it's title. It also takes place between, The Truce of Bakura, and X-Wing #1: Rogue Squadron.

message 39: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Hey everyone! I just got back from a week in AZ visiting my parents. It was nice to have sun and warm temps. I didn't get as much reading done but I finished task #5, D-E-A-R in the title. I read Dead Irish A murder mystery set in San Francisco. It was good with a very exciting finish.

message 40: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments thanks for the update, Christine:D Glad you got some sun while visiting your parents-this winter was terrible!

message 41: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I guess rainfall in March broke all kinds of records in WA. While in AZ, I experienced a dust storm, again unusual for this time of year. It's a winter that is never ending. The good news is daffodils and tulips are starting to bloom here.

message 42: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Read Mommie Dearest by Christina Crawford , which works for #6 in the challenge.

Christine I am happy for you!! Sunshine, warm temps, daffodils and tulips are hopefully in my future! As for now dirty snow, snow banks, gray skies, but 40 degrees...add in the winds and it feels like 20. I like winter, the beauty of snow and the peaceful tranquility it offers, however, I am ready to transition to Spring!

message 44: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Just finished Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple which works for #4 in the challenge.

message 45: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Danell, what did you think of it?

message 46: by Danell (last edited Apr 03, 2014 02:53PM) (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments I thought it was good. Was disappointed with the ending, was wondering if she was writing a sequel. Part of me loved Bernadette, but yet part of me wanted to tell her to wake up! It was a fun read and after the dark stuff I have been reading lately, it was a much needed read! Now if I could just have her endless bank account!!

How about you Christine? What were your thoughts?

message 48: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments Christine & Danell-Glad you both mostly liked Where'd You Go, Bernadette-for some reason i could not get into the story and didn't finish the book.

Danell- i wish i had bernadette's bank account too lol

message 49: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I was expecting Bernadette to be more funny. Everyone had told me that it was hilarious. I guess I went into it with my expectations set too high. I loved Bee, the daughter, the best.

message 50: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Bee was great and I agree with you about Bernadette being more funny.
