Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Thinner and Misery are great books! Read Thinner a year after my husbands weight loss surgery, actually had the book with me when he was in the hospital for the surgery, just couldn't bring myself to read it at the time. Misery I have read twice!

Haven't read On Writing, its on the tbr.

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments I went to a book sale today at an old library which was kinda creepy cause it was dimly lit. I found The house next door by Anne Rivers Siddons and The Haunted and The Collection by Bentley Little!! It was like winning a mini lottery $2.00 each. They did have Star Trek books and I smiled and thought of Josh lol

That's awesome! The setting and the scores at the sale make for a perfect day!

I finished the mom task. I read Not My Daughter An interesting book, lots of things to think about especially what defines a "good" or "bad" mother.

WHO-OLOGY

NEBULA AWARDS SHOWCASE 2003.
Time well spent.

THE BEST SCIENCE FICTION OF THE YEAR #8
well worth the time.

THE YEARS BEST SCIENCE FICTION 30th ANNUAL COLLECTION
I own the previous 29 editions of this and as much as I hate to say it this one really blows, (Gardner you really forkin blew it this time). message me and ask me why.

THE YEARS BEST SCIENCE FICTION 28th ANNUAL COLLECTION
The best one of the collection. Had to re-read after the blowout of the 30th edition.

SCHRODINGER'S CAT by RAW
My kind of pol. satire. Having lived thru the era in the book he hits the politics of the time on the head,
For all you younger readers out there substitute the names of some of our most prominate current pols. and you'll get the humor. (ie. the tea party,
republician in general)

So there you have it my current reads..YE..HAW...

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments So I haven't done too much reading these past few weeks. I have not read very much but I am still reading Carrie. I've also started reading comics since being able to afford them AND order them online... I have a really sucky comic shop in town. I am trying to learn how to balance everything I like to do for fun since I started working. So yeah. That's why I haven't updated here for a while.

All of the current Star Wars novels are now considered to be in this new Star Wars Universe called Star Wars Legends. So there is no need for me to read them all before the movie comes out now. They have stated the books will not effect the movie at all. The awesome thing is the new Star Wars books being released from this point onward is now considered to be fully cannon with the movies AND the two CGI cartoon series, Rebels and The Clone Wars. I'll probably still read the books that are now considered Legends but I am not in any rush to read them all anymore. So thats my update on that.

I read this one too, nothing to get too excited about except I liked its format. Brad Pitt does make the movie worth watching some day, lol. My favorite Brad Pitt movie is Meet Joe Black

message 121: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I finished task #1. I read The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt It is an epic book, beautifully written and compelling.

message 122: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Read See Jane Run by Joy Fielding which works for #3 in the challenge. This was a reread for me, first read it over 10 yrs ago, GREAT read again!

Now I have to wait patiently until the next reading challenge begins, did all 7 tasks. Love these challenges!

Legends of the Fall was a great Brad Pitt movie, didn't see Met Joe Black, but one of my favorite scenes of Brad Pitt is in Thelma and Louise, where his jeans are tight and he says "Take me, break me, make me a man!" hmmmmm. back to reality and more books!

Thanks for the update Christine :) Have you read The Secret History? i recently added it to my tbr-have heard good things about it. (figured i really should try this author and this book sounded more my cup of tea than the goldfinch (although many seem to love the goldfinch too).

i should really watch meet joe black one of these days-never saw it.

Yes, I did read it and hated it. It made me very angry but now I can't remember why. I just remember wanting to launch the book out the window when I finished it.
