"Yeah, i know the colors that my ears and tail want." Xia said as she swished her pure white tail an twitched her ears. "My primary, and broken, calico set was originally white as well." She explained as she set the dyes on the counter. Only once did i have a set that stayed white, but i grew out of that set." She had been her mother's giunnie pig since she was smaller. She had implants on her head and lower back to attach each set. She was the first and sometimes it hurt to get the new stuff.

Leon eyed the dye then tail and ears, furrowing his eyebrows a bit. He'd never actually seen someone with the fake ears and tail. The humans he knew remained that way. He turned away. "I'm going back to my room" he mumbled, walking out. Piffy shrugged before looking to the girls. "Well, get comfortable. We'll call you if there are any more plans for the day. Echo is the last door Doan the hall if you have an emergency. Leon and Neil live together in 10C if Echo isn't there. Have fun" she said before also walking out.
"I know that look. Leon, this feels natural to me." Xia stated. "It's part of who i am, besides human." She shook her head lightly a he walked out. "Alright piffy." Nina said a she started on her room. Xia sighed softly as she walked back to her room to finish her unpacking. When she finished she set her amp on low before starting a slow melody and sang softly. It was a song her mother use to sing to her.
((We can skip to their concert or to when they start writing songs together? Any preference?))

((Alrighty. It could be Echo or Leon. Neil wouldn't think much of it. Leon would be technical and instructive about it and Echo might open up a bit))Echo laid back on the couch in Leon and Neil's house where they were working on brainstorming together for the first time. For the time being they needed a single song to introduce Xia as the new member and see how fans react. "It could be a punk rock song" Neil said simply from a love seat. Leon looked over at him. "Then they'll be stuck of a punk rock image when it's us four. We don't only do that type of music." "Yeah well if we do a ballad then they'll think we've gone soft or something." They still hadn't decided on the style of song, Echo had yet to provide any input. "How do ballads equal going soft?" "It just does. We need something more hardcore" he insisted. Leon and Neil hardly agreed on music until Echo gave his opinion on it which was why the three worked so well.

They seemed to bicker a bit about how they should introduced her. She didn't get it. Why not the best of both world and do a mix? Pop would be nice but then with what the band already did, it would be hard for fans to see them that way and blame her for the wrong leading. "Hey guys, why not a mix of genres? Like pop and rock for an example." She said as she had a enough with the bickering, though it wouldn't be called that. "It goes both hardcore and soft when needed." She looked to the two conversating.
((Cool & k))Leon and Neil stopped and looked over at her when she mentioned simply using both. They looked at each other before looking over at Echo. Echo put his arm over his eyes as if he was going to sleep. "We'll have an upbeat song, one that's relaxing but makes you want to get up and move. Adding a music video would probably be best as well" he noted. Essentially, he hadn't disagreed with her but had added to what she had said. They had a few music videos out already so it wouldn't be weird to have another. "New Beginnings" he added. Leon leaned back in his chair. "That could work for a title" he said thoughtfully, thinking over the composition of the music. "Everyone write a few lines of either music or lyrics pertaining to the idea then we'll put it together and see what we get" he said simply. It was an order but sounded like a suggestion, leaving it open to discussion.
Xia blinked as she was agreed with. This is starting to work out. She just hoped 'new beginning' would go ovdr well with the populious. Her mind was already thinking of the her guitar would make, not sure what else to put down besides that. Oh well, shd would figure it out sooner our later. On of her jam sessons always helped out in thinking things over. She got up and stretched before looking to the three. "Gonna go home to think." She said as she put her guitar on her back. "If you need me, please just knock first." She said as she walked out with a small yawn. Her nap will have to wait, music came first and she hadn't had a decent jam sesson in a while. It was needed.
Echo looked glanced over at her when she got up and explained she was going home. He looked over at the time before he got up from the couch. He would stay but Neil always made it pretty difficult for him to sleep or concentrate. Neil got up and went to his room which had a soundproof feature which let him play the drums without disrupting people. Echo yawned a bit, slightly baring his fangs before heading out as well. His beds and couches were more comfortable than that of Neil and Leon's room. He didn't exactly intend to leave at the same time as Xia but it ended up that way, he wasn't one to just not stand in the same place as a human. He closed the door behind him before heading to the elevator, feeling too lazy to walk down the stairs.
Xia heard the door close behind her and thought nothing of it. She just wanted to get home to her room, away from the world's eyes and think. She walked into the elevator and saw echo enter with her. Again she thought nothing of it. She would ignore him and part ways at their doors. She pressed the botton and leaned against the wall. Her tail flicked softly as she waited for the movement to go down. To be honest, she wanted the elevator to herself. Shewanted to hum but didn't let ot a peep. She watched as the number went down.
Echo leaned back against the wall after he climbed into the elevator. He glanced over at the numbers before looking over at her. He was going to look away but spotted the ears and tail. He hardly really looked at her so even though he knew she had them, he hadn't been aware of the details of the fur. He stared at the tailed which flicked back and forth before looking up at her ears. He could see how she passed as a beast with all the gadgets but that still didn't change anything. But why did she go through all the trouble to pretend...? He reached over and lightly grabbed the tip of one ear between his thumb and index finger. How real could they be anyway?
Xia's ear twitched as it was touch, makig her flinch slightly. She looked to echo as she moved away from his hand. "Please don't do that, it's not something i like anymore." She said as she remain docial. For the moment that was. She rather not revisit the memories in the lab. Being irritated to no end with touching. It depends on who touches her ears whether she likes it. Only her mother gets to without much of a word, for now. As for right then, she barely knew echo so touching like this wasn't something she liked.
Echo looked down at her after she moved away. His bright blue cat eyes staring down at her with a blank expression on his face. Anymore... He was slightly curious but didn't bother asking since it would probably require deeper conversation. "Huh" he seemed to say pensively but nothing else; yet he seemed to lose interest at the same time. He put his hands in his pockets before walking off the elevator once the door opened, heading for his room. The fur and skin felt real but he couldn't tell how the ear itself felt since he only touched the tip. How exactly did they make those things...? He took out the key to his room as she hit closer, unlocking it after he stopped by the door.
Xia blinked softly as she was stared at. She saw his curiousity but then the door opened. Yay, her past sealed... not exactly sure why that is a good thought. She shook her head lightly and walked to her apartment before pushing in. She dashed to her room before her roomie could even ask anything. Nina had gotten a few job thanks to piffy, but nothing too big. Xia thought of it as a good start, an nina was just impatient for te roles to come in. As of the moment, she was between jobs. Xia shut her door and set up everything for her thought provoking jam sesson. "A new beginning...." she murmured softly. She started gwntly and hummed softly, thinking of the drums and bass that would go along with. Not really thinking too much she sang softly. A bit of it was her version of her mother's song.
Echo closed his door behind him before going to his room to take a nap. He slipped off his shirt before climbing into bed. He wouldn't make any kind of progress if he tried writing lyrics while he was tired so no point in trying. The others were probably working on their stuff already, as per usual. He checked the time before burying himself in his sheets. He hadn't exactly told them when they would meet up again but he figured that was alright. He would figure out that detail once he woke up from his nap. He needed to rest from the concert yesterday anyway.-later-
Xia was playing for hours, singing on and off as to not have her voice crack. She was happy and playing off course of thought for the band, but she was having too much fun. At the moment she was singing softly as she jammed to her own beat. Her collar was off as her singing took on a soft purr in nature. Her door was wide open due to nina opening it earlier to listen in. Nina never said she didn't like the jam sessions, she just thought they occured too much.
Echo yawned softly as he walked out of his room, his hair tousled a bit from sleeping. His tail swayed slowly behind him as he walked, pausing by Xia's room. It would be too much of a hassle to get Leon and Neil to come down to talk to her if they were focused on their own thing. He needed to suck it up as the band leader. He sighed softly before reluctantly knocking on the door. Hours had passed already so he usually checked in on everyone individually before getting them together. But before that had just been going upstairs and sitting down in Neil's room then Leon's room before going to the living room. Course the order would change now that Xia was here. He pulled on his black hood that had holes for his ears to pop through.
Xiq didn't hear the knock, but nina did. The sneaky wolf quietly walked to the door and opened it. "Shh..." she whispered as she pulled echo in. Xia's playing was still going on and so was her singing. Nina went back to her couch as she left echo to his own. She knew xia woupd either stop and be spooked or echo would spook her as she was playing. She would be spooked none he less. Xia for the moment was unknowing of everything as she played her heart out.
Echo looked down at her when she answered the door, seeming confused as she pulled him in. Why was she telling him to be quiet? His ears twitched slightly when he heard the singing. He glanced over at Nina before silently walking towards where the singing was coming from. He figured maybe it was just the radio or something, but then why would she tell him to be quiet? He stopped in the doorway, spotting Xia in her room singing while playing the guitar. He said nothing as he stood in the doorway and watched. He really hadn't expected her to be the source of the singing, which made it confusing because why didn't she list that in her skills along with playing the guitar... Then again he hadn't wanted to sing at first either.
Xia's voice purred softly as she continued. Her tail swayed softly as her joy of music poured out of her. As a bit of time lapsed from echo's arrival, xia slowled her play and stoped as she panted softly. She closed her eyes and set her guitar down. Her ears twitched softly as she sat on her bed. What was she suppose to be doing? She just remembered playing and the band wanted something... ah... the song! Damn she got so off course. She opened her eyes to see echo nd squeaked as she jumped. When did he vet there? And long was he there? This was embarrassing and she could feel her face heat. Was that nina chuckling? That wolf! Her tail wrapped around her waist as she grabbed a pillow to hide herself. "Why me?" SHe muttered under her breath.
Echo simply waited for her to notice, not feeling not watching her just yet. He had the tendency to observe people before he said anything. Kind of like stalking prey but that wasn't where the habit had come from. He raised an eyebrow at her when she suddenly squeaked then hid herself behind her pillow. Well that was pointless since it wasn't like he'd magically disappear if she hid herself. He glanced around her room, not spotting any kind of sheet music which was typical if you were brainstorming for a song. "I'm assuming you haven't done anything besides playing your guitar and singing for the past few hours?" he questioned, looking back at her with an intense stare. Of course the stare wasn't really intentional, he usually came off as intimidating or judgemental to some people because of his history.
Xia peeked at echo when he spoke. "It started out good and about the band but my mind wandered off topic." She murmured as she hugged the pillow to her chest. "I remember what i did for the band though." She said as she tilted her head to the side slightly. "It's easy to remember my playing, but a little hard, when playing alone, to remember the focus of the playing." Not the she was disorganized with her playing it was more of a time to forget her frustrations an it fell into a habit.
Echo looked back at her when she explained that she had sounded out concentrated on what she had been supposed to do. He sighed softly, putting his hands in his pockets. "You're just like Niel" he muttered mostly to himself. Neil tended to 'rock' out when he was left alone on the drums for too long. Leon did it sometimes but it usually pertained to composing a bit too much, which didn't end up always being bad. "If you did something for the band then you need to actually write it down so we can all see it" he stated. "You can't just keep it in your head." He knew from experience with Leon who used to keep all the music composition in his head and expected everyone to understand what he was explaining.
Xia blinked as she was compared to others in the band. She maybe forgetful when alone but she wasn't stupid. "Echo, i record my sessions." She said softly. "I'll write down my imput and have a recording of what it would sound like." She added while thinking, with major cuts. She would keep the original copy for herself. "No way i could keep the beat right from memory without repitition."
Leon keeps the beat right from memory he thought to himself. He really needed to figure out how she worked since he was the group leader. He needed to make sure everyone worked well with her...which included him... He stared down at her for a moment. He needed to make sure he didn't have a hostile tone with her which was pretty difficult. The guys were used to how he was and how he led them. "Does that include the singing?" He noticed that she hadn't exactly told anyone in the band she could sing, and it didn't seem like anyone knew but her roommate-who obviously wanted them to know about it.
Xia watched echo mull her memory over. No one was perfect. Though she remembered lyrics better, not nessissarily a good thing at the moment seeing as he just asked about it. She stiffened slightly and her tail twitched softly. Yup her singing was there too, but she was going to edit it out. Echo was going to stop that it seems. Just say no.... just say.. "yes it has my singing..." she said a bit tightly. Against her own thoughts no less.
"Alright. Bring the recording upstairs in an hour. Make sure you keep the singing and the playing. Include written lyrics and music sheets of whatever you have. Doesn't matter if it seems stupid, as long as it's related to the new song. Sometimes raw material is better than the ones you prep too much." Echo put his hands in his pockets. "And whatever the reason you seem to want to keep your singing a secret doesn't matter to me, but you should at least sing with us. I'll sing the lyrics of you don't want to sing." He turned away from her. "You're good" he said before walking away, going to the front door to leave. He still needed to check in with the others.
Xia was in a corner and echo put her there. She listened to him as her ears lowered. This wasnt good. Why didnt she just say no? She nodded as he left her alone. He at least said she was good. That's saying something at least. Compromising with her singing shyness wasn't going to work either. She liked singing when no one was watching. Xia sighed and laid back on her bed. Nina looked at echo. "Try asking for a duet later on." She said as she held out one of the edited recordings xia kept for herself. It was the slow song that she couldn't quite get through her guitar, but added in her voice instead.
Echo looked over at Nina when she suggested a duet. He looked down at her hand before silently taking it. Her only done duets when he collaborated with other artists or groups. He briefly glanced back at Xia's room before walking out. He closed the door behind him before going upstairs. Did he really need to sing a duet with her? He sighed softly. Piffy would probably tell him to go for it if it worked... He still wasn't 100% comfortable with Xua yet. Would he ever?
Xia sighed and louded her track on her computer. She saved the original and started on clipping the part for the band out of the track. She sighed and started on writing down the ideas she heard from her track on different scales. She wrote down the lyrics she sang before burning the cd and setting it aside. She curled up on the bed and took a nap.
-hour later-Echo was looking over what Leon and Neil had written, also comparing it to the lyrics he'd written. As he figured, Leon and Neil wrote mostly music sheets since they weren't strong in the song writing department. He laid on his stomach, glancing over st the time. Xia was late. "I can go get her?" Leon questioned, noticing the look on his face. Echo was pretty strict when it came to band practice or anything of the like. He was a bit of a perfectionist when it came to music. That used to annoy both Leon and Neil but now they just respected it since his attitude towards music made the band better as a whole. They had improved much from when they started. "Wait five minutes" Echo told him, grabbing a red pen to edit out a few things.
Xia was up before the hour was up but that wasn't what made her late. She was going over her cd and trying to tweak a few things before glancing at the clock. She did tweak a thing but she had a few ideas on how to tweak the lyrics a bit. She dashed out of her appartment and flew up the stairs. She was at the door to catch her breath before she ever knock. She walked in and pulled out a folder from her guitar case. "Sorry, wanted to go through the recording again after i woke up." She stated as she sat down.
"You could have just done that here" Neil commented, sitting on a chair he'd turned backwards. Echo didn't look up when she walked in. Leon pointed to Echo. "You can give any physical stuff to him" he stated. Echo currently had headphones on, listening to what Neil had recorded. His tail slowly swayed behind him as he messed around with GarageBand on his laptop. Neil and Leon were waiting patiently as Echo tried to composition everything together. He wasn't going to do all the work himself but he usually looked at everything everyone put together before showing it to them. It helped since they tended to argue too much if everyone worked on raw material together.
Xia just set the folder next to echo before she got out her notebook to doodle... and rewrite the lyrics too. She had and extra written down for her own use. Of course it would be handed to echo something durring this session. She she remained quiet as she listened to her track on nina's ipod, she took it without the wolf knowing again. She had a whole playlist of songs by her. Ones nina doesn't even know are on her ipod. Its password protected and everything.
Echo glanced over when he spotted the folder. He reached over and took it, opening it and looking over what was inside. He took the papers out, looking them over with red pen in hand. He switched the recordings to Leon's as he looked over Xia's stuff. "You keep to yourself a lot, don't you?" Neil asked her, leaning against his hand. "Where's your roommate anyway? Working?" he asked curiously. "Do you have any friends besides her?" Leon sighed a bit. "Quit prying." "Well I have to at some point" he argued. "She intends to play with us. Casey said to get comfortable and in order to do that I actually need to know about her. Things that are okay and aren't. Like with Ech-" he stopped abruptly when he spotted Echo glaring at him. Neil slowly averted his gaze, his ears lowering a bit. "That requires asking questions."
"Mostly keep to myself. No other friends besides nina and she is resting in the apartment." She sai a she looked at them. "Nothing about my childhood and father, other topics are okay." She said as she looked down at her notepad again.
Neil tilted his head when she said nothing about her childhood and father. "Mother is okay but not the father? Huh." He shrugged. He wasn't close enough to her to pry any further. "Well, don't ask Echo anything about his life before the band. I think everything with me is fare game. And don't ask Leon about his ex." Leon briefly glanced up when he mentioned that but didn't say anything. Echo sat up once he finished looking over everything. He put the headphones around his neck. "We have somewhat of a start. Maybe one verse or two can work. He unplugged the headphones, playing the small mix he made of all their music.
"Anything in my childhood would refer to the time i spent with my mother." Xia refreased as she before listening to the rest of the do nots. She blinked as she heard their music together. "Here." She said and gave her revised lyrics to echo. "Couldn't edit it in my room but i found a few changes." She said as she sat back and brushed the fur of her tail gently.
Neil shrugged a bit, for once not prying any further than that. He idly wondered if it was sis thing really complicated since only one parent was okay to talk about. Echo looked over at the paper before taking it from her, looking over the lyrics. "You gonna wear that all the time?" Neil asked her, looking down at the tail in her hands. Echo scribbled down a few things in the red pen, not really focused on the conversation although he could still hear them. He stopped the music before putting it back to the start. He played the music while reading the lyrics this time, trying to match the rhythm.
She looked to leon and blushed lightly. "Ummm..." this topic was a litte sudden and emarassing. This was becase she hadn't taken them off since she dyed the fur. "I don't reallize i have them on much anymore. Only after a shower and time like these do i realize they're there." She said softly before going to take it off. "Ow." He muttered softly and grabbed her phone. "I'll be back in a bit." She said as she walked into he kitchen. She called her mom and whn she picked up. "Mother, what the hell did did you do to me now?" She said in a hushed yell.
Neil raised an eyebrow when she explained that she didn't even notice them. He briefly glanced over at Leon, thinking it was odd. How could a human not notice the cat features? Animal features were normal for beasts since they were born with them, but humans were bare. The cat ears and tail didn't feel foreign? "She must wear them a lot" Neil murmured after she walked out. Leon looked over at Neil. "She'd have to be used to them if she intends to wear them in public all the time, don't you think?" Neil shrugged. "Didn't think they'd be water proof though." He looked to Echo with a smile. "You think she freaks about water too?" Echo glanced up at her. "You do realize you're a cat too, right?" "Yes but I look like a dog. Best if both worlds" he said with a chuckle. Echo shook his head before picking up his acoustic guitar which had been on the floor beside him. His ears twitched slightly when he heard Xia in the kitchen.
Xia heard her mother laugh. "This isn't funny, the long furred set wont come off." "That's because it's the right match to your beast gene." "Match? Your crazy, they're ment to do this." "You're a mix like me, i only wanted to let others see that this is who you are." "And having the set attach itsef to me is your way to say it? I think taking them off would be a bit more reasonable and having my genome tested is a better way of saying im a mix." "You barely notice them don't you." "I'm done talking, I'm your daughter, not your geniupig. Have a little heart will ya." She hung up with her mother and walked back into the room, her fur a bit ruffled.
Neil looked over at her when she walked back in. "Can't take them off now?" he asked with a soft chuckle, finding it amusing. "Don't think it's a big deal when you barely even noticed you kept them on all this time" he commented. Echo took the headphones off again, letting the music play as he added his acoustic guitar to the mix. He softly sang the lyrics to see if it really fit or not. His voice was gentle and soft.
"Neil its not funny." She hissed as she heard echo sing some of her lyric. She moved over to echo. She wanted something betterto focus on, not the fact that she was still the little guinepig her mother used. She sat down next to him. "Try a lower tone near the last three words in the verce." She said softly as she focused on the music. A welcome distraction in he case. It was always the distraction she had when she was younger. It gave her joy and peace.
"Seems pretty funny to me" he said softly, a small smirk on his face. Leon gave him a scolding look. Neil always pushed peoples buttons. Echo flinched a. bit when she sat next to him. He looked over at her before kind of scooting away, not saying anything. He looked back at the lyrics. "If I lower it more then it'll be harder to bring the best back up. Unless we're aiming for a sort of party song, like EDM or something." He played the notes anywayx adding the lyrics and lowering it at the end like she mentioned just to see how it sounded. He did his best not to completely ignore his bandmates suggestion. He needed to try and treat her as he treated Neil and Leon. Leon looked between Xia and Echo, wondering if Echo was alright.
Xia notice echo move away. She was at least a foot away from him to begin with, why move away even more. She glared at niel. Her past wasn't funny and how she got her ears and tail was through her past. Now they were stuck in her. She got up and walked to the bathroom to see what had happened. She pushed the hair away from the ears and saw nothing but skin, fur, and the details of the ear. "Dpn't even see the metal of the implant." She muttered under breath and fell to the floor. She was at a lost. What she neededwas the ipod she brought with her, but that was on the couch.
Neil watched her go to the bathroom before glancing over at Leon. "She gonna cry?" Leon looked at him. "You were the one talking about do and do nots and you keep pushing it." Neil frowned. "She didn't say her ears and tails were off limits" he pointed out. Echo was still focused on the music, not seeing why she had walked away to begin with. Piffy walked in just then, having the key to their places. "You guys on track?" she asked. She usually checked in with them. She looked around. "Where's Xia?" They pointed towards the bathroom. Piffy frowned before walking to the bathroom. "Did you guys insult her or something?" She lightly knocked in the door. "Xia? You alright in there?"
Xia felt tears prick her eyes and pushed them down. There was no way she was going to cry, not here. She jumped when there was a knock at the door. "I'm fine piffy but tell niel my ears and tail are a touchy fucking subject at the moment." She muttered through the door as she tried to rein her emotions. Her it was hard without music. Music was her calming rock. "Could you get my ipod." She murmured as se raked her fingers through the fur on her tail.
Piffy blinked before looking over at Neil who was averting his gaze, having heard Xia. She sighed softly. She felt like she was watching the band in their first couple of days. They had a bunch of problems at the beginning. "I think it's better if you come out, Xia" she said gently. "You want to focus on music, no? Just come out and work on the new song together. How bout it?" she suggested. She didn't want Xia feeling like she couldn't be around the guys when she was having a hard time.
