I'm going to read this for the same reason :) I read so little in September and I'm hoping rereading a favourite will reboot my reading. I also managed to get the audiobooks, narrated by Stephen Fry, from my local library so I'm going to listen along to them as I read my physical copy :)

I've had a hiatus of like, a few years lmao. I hate myself for it but this is me getting back on the reading train. I took my boyfriend book shopping and he picked something and bless him he really struggled as he is dyslexic but it was the first time I saw him sit down with a book and be engaged with it and it inspired me even more to get reading again.

I'm gonna start reading HP1 right this second, assuming I can remember which bookshelf it is on in this damn house lol

I forgot how ridiculous Dumbledore is, very outlandish. Oh and the Dursley's remind me of my grandparents, super outdated like they are living in the 1930s

I remember the novels just being pure action but now I'm reading it again I see all the foundations for the future books. Peeves is by one of my favourite characters from this book. I really wish they hadn't excluded him from the films!

2/4 for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: (view spoiler)[I’ve watched the films so many times but I’ve not read the books for a few years. I actually forgot all the many things that make this book more magical than its adaptation. Rowling’s wit is evident on the screen but her characters are far more sassy on the page. Draco is also more slimy, and Hagrid even more forgetful and lovable. I have to say I prefer the on-screen Hermione, to how she is currently presented, and as she has little presence in the first half of this book. The best part, so far though, is Peeves! 4/4 for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: (view spoiler)[3/4 - It took a surprisingly large amount of the novel to get to the actual quests for obtaining the philosopher’s stone. I feel, in comparison to the movie, the book is better at hiding the truth from the readers. Much of the novel is concerned with other smaller trivialities that, I imagine, could have deterred original readers from guessing at the the close presence of Voldermort.

Of all these quests, the potion one is the most interesting and yet that is what they omitted from the film. The trio also more equally help conquer each of the stages and yet the film shows only one defeating each. It’s been so interesting to read this book and compare it to the infamous adaptation. I’m so ready for the Chamber of Secrets! (hide spoiler)]

But they've found Fluffy but there's still no mention of the stone or of Voldemort, there's definitely not even any scent of it. J K really did a good job of steering us away from it to make it more impactful when all is revealed. (hide spoiler)]
