The alternates:
Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Theo | 1762 comments Hello all!

I'm in the same boat as Turtlecollector, I'd rather not be captain, because I'm not very reliable on Sundays (I've got church and work!). I might be up for a co-captain situation where I could do Thursdays and someone else could do Sundays, if anyone is up for that.

As far as team names go, I'm not super-creative, but in honor of March Madness coming up, one idea I had was "The Final Four."

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments hi all! I'm amy! I am not very good with name picking, but I dont mind taking a sunday or helping when needed. I not very busy so let me know.

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments my imput with names is fab 4 lol

Turtlecollector Dennis | 760 comments The only name stuck in my head has been Four-ward Readers. Maybe it doesn't have to be related to our number?

message 9: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments I like your name better lol :)

message 10: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments None of us really seem incredibly enthused with idea of being team captain, so I guess I'll volunteer. I'll let y'all know if I need a back-up for rolling if things get too crazy in my real life.

I don't have much of an opinion about our team name, so I'm fine with Four-ward Readers, unless someone else has another suggestion.

Also, I'll message Lindy to make sure she knows about the thread and that she's on our team, since she hasn't posted yet.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 760 comments I'll help you out Theo. We can co-captain. I am the opposite of you, I can do all the Sundays, it's the Thursdays I would have trouble with.

message 12: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments That sounds good. Thanks!

Also, I messaged Lindy about the team and the start date, and she replied to say thanks, so we should be hearing from her soon.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 760 comments I rolled a 4, so we need to read the 4th in a series or a book published in 2005

Turtlecollector Dennis | 760 comments I will be reading Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini Singh Guild Hunter #4

Theo | 1762 comments Space: 4
Reading: Body Double (Rizzoli & Isles, #4) by Tess Gerritsen by Tess Gerritsen
Finished: 2/12/14
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Body Double is the fourth book in the Rizzoli & Isles series and the action starts right out of the gate. The prologue features a flashback where a young girl is led into a deadly trap by classmate, and then as the story returns to our familiar characters in the first chapter, Maura Isles is shocked when she comes home from France to find a woman who looks exactly like her murdered in front of her house. Throw in there a storyline about a pregnant woman who has been abducted, and these three storylines weave together to create quite the suspenseful mystery. In addition to learning more about Isles and her background, we also see Rizzoli, pregnant and about ready to pop, struggling to keep up her tough cop persona. I thought this installment came together better than the previous one, but the first two in the series still standout as my favorites.

I see it listed as published in 2004. You will want to make sure yours says 2005 on GR for it to count.

message 28: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Feb 09, 2014 12:06PM) (new)

message 29: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments I have a couple

Turtlecollector Dennis | 760 comments How about the Four Finalists for a team name? I have been watching the Olympics and Theo's earlier suggestion has been wandering around my head.

message 31: by Amy (new)

Amy H (twinypa) | 426 comments I was thinking that or final 4

message 32: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments The Four Finalists works for me.

With the publication date question, I was thinking about asking Jenne if the publication date has to be the original date or if it can include the publication date of the edition you're reading. I don't want Amy to get too far into the book and then find out it won't work. I'll let you know what I hear back.

message 33: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments Jenne said the year of the specific edition will work. So, as Turtlecollector stated just make sure the correct edition is linked to in the review post.

As people start posting their reviews, I'll create the post to link to all the reviews for the "Post Your Spot" thread for the roll on Thursday.

message 36: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Those are the alternates. Instead of randomly selecting them like last time, there's an alternate for each spot.

message 37: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments you just pick anyone of them? How easy do you want to make it

message 38: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments Each number corresponds to the spaces on the playing board. We're on space 4, so the alternate this week would be number 4: publication date of 2005.

message 40: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Lindy don't worry about the list of alternates. They're just there for reference. The captains will always tell the team which alternate they can read when the announce the roll to you here.

My motivation for having them assigned to each spot was to prevent anyone from reading early and also if a team had rolled before a mod had announced the alternate they weren't waiting on one of us.

this is the 4th in the Janie series, who as a child of 3 was kidnapped by a young girl who tried to pass her off as her daughter and left her with her parents to
raise. She really belonged to the Spring family in NJ and was called Jenny, but actually prefers to stay with her Ct family as the only child instead of being in a family with a number of children. Her Ct dad has a stroke and she is called upon to handle much of the family business. While doing so she finds a folder called HJ could it be Hannah Johnson the girl who kidnapped her? live iwtht he family she grew up with.

Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini Singh by Nalini Singh
Guild Hunter #4
read 2/12/14 - 4 stars

This was the first book in the series that didn't focus on Elena. It dealt with the vampire Dmitri, second to Raphael, who is not a very nice man and Honor, a hunter who is Elena's friend. I enjoyed this book and am glad I got to find out the back story to Dmitri. There were a couple of twists in the story and two separate cases when I thought it was all one case.

is the fourth book in series, and what is the alternative?

message 49: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments Lindy, this is the post I put together for the thread where we report our reading for the Sunday roll. We won't be rolling for Thursday until midnight central time, which is a little over thirty minutes from now. I will post our new spot when it is time to roll.

message 50: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1762 comments I rolled a 5, which puts us on space 9.

That means read a book that's the 9th in a series, or the alternate is to read a book that has a white cover (at least 50% of the cover must be white).
