65% Mid Ch 17 (view spoiler)[I feel like something is up with her friend Marely... She seems to be a super duper nice and sweet girl, but, when Maxin said something like "yeah she seems> nice" it made me think he meant she isn't like that when you get one on one with her or something. Not sure. I'd say she is overly nice to America, but America is also that nice, genuinely, so, I could be wrong and America's current impression of Marley could be accurate. Plus the story line has plateaued so I feel like something is about to happen :) (hide spoiler)]

I just started listening to this book on audio.......I don't like the reader's voice. It sounds automated.


I don't know how far I am...but still in chapter 1, but so far I think that out of America's family---so far my favorite is her father. I love the fact that he takes America's feelings into consideration and he seems wiser than all of her family put together. He seems to be the only one that realizes that it's about more than money and food for America. The only thing I don't like about America so far is the fact that she judged Prince Maxon based solely on what she saw on the T.V. I feel like that was her first mistake.

Scribd is acting up tonight so I'm only in the middle of chapter 3. I really like how Kiera Cass did the world building. It makes me see the world in a very realistic manner.

I do not think America is annoying, I like her a lot, she sometimes seems to good to be true (so does the prince) and I think the other girls dislike her due to jealousy.... In chapter 17 or 18 (view spoiler)[the girls prove this by copying her dresses and lack-of-jewelry simplistic sense of fashion because they are getting the impression that she's his favorite. I'm also listening to the audiobook and I felt the same way about her voice but at chapter 18 I'm used to it now. Hope you get used to it too!

So, speaking of our mutual dislike for the narrator, I recognized it from another book in which I also really disliked her, more in fact, because she attempted to do this horrible inconsistent southern accent. I looked it up & confirmed - Amy Rubinate. This book wasn't too bad, at least she isn't attempting any accents :/
