I also loved that she really saw the beauty in Butch and gave herself whole hearted to him.
I finished The Awakening last night, and I loved it! I am going to start dead until dark, and blood promise soon!!
I'm currently reading For The Roses by Julie Garwood and To The Edge by Cindy Gerard. I'm focusing more on For The Roses though. It's a reread.
Jo I'm so glad you're enjoying The Time Traveler's Wife. I loved that book.I FINALLY got my new library card!! I updated my list with 10 books so far. But for now I'm still reading Odd Thomas.
I SHOULDN'T have enough time in my days. I have 3 kids that get neglected when I have a good book! lol Okay that sounds really bad but they don't get my full attention. I read while cooking for goodness sakes. haha

That was one of my favorite books from my high school American lit class. I should really reread that one.
Elvia - I totally read while cooking, too, if you can call what I do cooking. :) And, my 3 kids are total book orphans when it's a really good book or I'm right at the end and can't wait to finish! They will approach me when I'm reading and ask if I'm at the end or not! Sad, I know, but they are 13, 11, and 8 so it's not like they need me every second anyways.
I'm currently listening to Skylight Confessions by Alice Hoffman and going to start reading today Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
Melissa - My kids are 10, 7, and 4 so they understand now that when mom has a book in her hands they will serve themselves a drink and if possible make their own sandwiches for lunch. I've missed complete meals (only me, not the kids) because I don't want to stop reading. lolJackie - I'm jealous! My library's system doesn't have Blood Promise available for request yet so I'm still waiting to read it!!
I don't have children, but I do know how a good book can be hard to tear away from. I can put things on hold, when a book has captured me.
I currently listening to Skylight Confessions by Alice Hoffman and I started reading Mystic River by Dennis Lehane today.

Its 536..."
I'm just getting started reading it and I am already hooked. I know it is going to be an amazing book.
Please let me know how you both liked it, Cindy and Jo!!I'm still reading Odd Thomas and for some reason I can't get into it. I think it's because I've had so much to do this week what with moving and getting the kids ready for school. Hopefully by this weekend I'll be able to really enjoy it.
Just finished Eats, Shoots & Leaves The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation and found it absolutely, laugh out loud, hilarious! It's a fun look at how puntuation funtions in language and gives the reader some fun facts at the same time. I now know who was the first to use italics, the British and the Americans have different rules for quotation marks (or inverted commas), I have a new respect for the semicolon and Starbursts originally went by the name Opal Fruits.
Jo wrote: "I finished The Time Travelers Wife last night. It was sooo good! I am either going to read American Psycho or Peeps next. I am also still reading White Oleander"I'm SOOOO glad you liked it! I can't wait to see the movie! I know some people think the concept is creepy (you know what I'm talking about right?). I find it romantic especially when you get to the middle and understand what's going on more.
I just finished listening to Brother and Sister A Novel by Joanna Trollope. This is about a brother and sister who both are adopted my different parents and who both wanting to find their real parent. The book is about all the problems that had developed from them finding their real parents. I found this book confussing and would not recommed this book to others.Brother and Sister A Novel
House Unauthorized Vasculitis, Clinic Duty, and Bad Bedside MannerGood if you're obsessed with House, M.D., wouldn't be any fun otherwise. House and Philosophy was much better, but had very different intent, using House to illustrate some complex philosophical principles. This is just a collection of essays about the show.
Exactly, Jo! I liked how they wrote the book like diary entries so you always knew who or when they were.
I am reading The Dead Girls' Dance. I didn't love the first one in the series but I am giving it another try.
I'm reading Unspeakable by Sandra BrownSo far we have a drifter who has a secret we haven't learned yet, a charming 5-yr-old boy, his deaf-mute widowed mom, her father-in-law who's worried about a killer who just escaped from prison, the nasty killer & his almost-as-nasty brother, and a retired sheriff who's obsessed with a 20-year-old unsolved murder - you just know they're all going to come together.
The Sari Shop Widow - Shobhan BantwalAbsolutely not the sort of book that I would usually pick, but it was a free Kindle download. It was sort of romance-ish, but I'm sticking to my opinion that it was a slice-of-Indian-Immigrant life. No bodice ripping, but there were quite a few sultry glances. Went further than a Bollywood movie, though.
Just finished [Book:Hunting Ground|5292853] by Patricia Briggs (It was so so good!) and now I'm either gong to finish [Book:Belong to the Night|6453240] or start [Book:Set the Dark on Fire|6496990] by Jill Sorenson
I finished The Dead Girls' Dance and for me it was ok. I will probably read more of the series when I don't have anything else to read.So now I am reading A Duke of Her Own.
The Brass Bed was so completely awful that I have abandoned it after chapter 3. Another book I wouldn't have considered without it being a free Kindle Download. It's chick-lit. BAD chick-lit.Now, once I start reading a book, I have to finish. I have this literary OCD thing going on. Because of this book I have learned that I have an awfulness threshold, which this book crossed.
I have moved on to an adventure/thriller that is quite good so far (free Kindle Download), Hostile Intent. Quickly made it to chapter 14. It's got a lot of action and darkly mysterious characters with murky backstories and strongly defined professional ethics.
I'm about halfway through Angels' Blood, which is surprisingly good. It is very unique, and I have to admit I am enjoying a book that includes archangels AND vampires. LOL Not to mention...vampire hunters!
After that I am going to read Blood Promise!!! I'm REALLY excited to read blood promise. I feel like I have been waiting an eternity to read it.

Jo wrote: "I finished The Time Travelers Wife last night. It was sooo good! I am either going to read American Psycho or Peeps next. I am also still reading White Oleander"American Psycho is one of the best novels of the 20th Century. Keep with it. It is not what it appears to be, or what the media would have you think of it.
I started Gil's All Fright Diner yesterday morning and it's pretty funny. Not as funny as Christopher Moore but pretty darn close.I'm not reading Odd Thomas for a while. I have a lot of books that I really want to read coming from the library and I OWN Odd so he can wait. lol
I am reading Eating the Cheshire Cat by Helen Ellis. I am only 29 pages into the book, but let me tell you this book is off to a great start! I LOVED the opening scene!
Elvia - Gil's was the first book I read by A. Lee Martinez and each book of his gets better and better. I love that they are stand alone books. I've read everything by him and often recommend him for a funny fantasy read.
Glad to hear you're liking Angel's Blood, Joy! I would be curious to hear what you think of her Psy-Changeling series. The two are quite different.
Melissa wrote: "Elvia - Gil's was the first book I read by A. Lee Martinez and each book of his gets better and better. I love that they are stand alone books. Currently reading Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. Reminds me a little of Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters, especially the first book, which was more lighthearted than the others. This has a house that responds to emotions, and an apple tree that throws its apples at people when it wants them to eat one!
Finished Sophie Kinsella's Can you keep a secret? A few night ago. Went back to the Rose Labyrinth but the writing style is annoying me. So now I'm reading Brisingr by Christopher Paolini.
I've got a few series on the go right now. I just finished the first of Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobb's books. It was terrific!I'm now reading Firebird by Mercedes Lackey. It's quite good so far.
I am exceedingly jealous of those of you reading The Time Traveler's Wife. I have it on request from the library, but I'm +700 on a +1000 person list. It's very frustrating.
