Carrying on from my 2017 trend, I've started reading another book set in ancient Rome - Tribune of Rome. Loving it so far.

Anyone else read 'The Sixteen Trees of the Somme'? I note it is in multiple translations and was originally Norwegian. I am on page one!The Sixteen Trees of the Somme
I've not heard of that one PDR. I'm currently reading Gone with the Wind for the first time. Really enjoying it.

Currently I'm reading Tribune of Rome. Loving the back story of his early years. Reading the book is even better since I actually held one of Vespasian's coins earlier this year.
A Whole New World
by Liz Braswell - I'm like a third, maybe half way through and it is honestly a disappointing read so far. So much so I probably couldn't give you any good or bad parts because it's not memorable at all.
The 16 Trees I would love to hear comments from you. I am still trying to work out the ending!!!Just started 'Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows
Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows: A Novel
Not sure yet!
I’m reading The Lord of the Rings Trilogy at the moment. I’m only on the first book, but I’m loving it! 😁👌🤙

I hope that it's a great read for you Carlene

It was! Has opened up a new genre for me for sure.
Final Fantasy Type-0 Side Story, Vol. 1: The Ice Reaper
by Tetsuya Nomura
Reading Horns, which I didn't quite get around to while the bookpool was on. Man, it is quite weird, but I like it.
I started reading: I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death
by Maggie O'Farrell
A very different kind of book - one to make you think about life, and yourself
Justine - I have 'I Am, I Am, I Am' on my bookshelf at home. Haven't read it yet - let us know what you thought when you're done :)
Carlene - hope you like Maze Runner. I think I flew through that over a weekend.

I've been meaning to read the Maze Runner too. Currently also reading The Sun is also a Star. I keep cribbing about how it's unfurling and has to keep reminding myself that it's YA.
When breath become air is a great book! I’m about to start the lord of the rings: the two towers 👍😁 Does anyone have any thoughts on Frodo?
I love Borodir and Aragorn. Gollum is a great character too.
Hurray! The library have got the two latest Elliot Patterson Inspector Shan novelsSo I'm reading 'Soul of the Fire' and 'Skeleton God'.
Soul of the Fire
AND
Skeleton God
I like this author's way with words and his attitude.
I'm reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. It's enjoyable - sci fi but with a real focus on characters and relationships.
Just tucking into more research - A Colonial Naturalist by Pamela Hyde. I like real people's recollections of their colonial struggles to add colour to my novels!A Colonial Naturalist : Henry Suter's life of discovery and hardship in New Zealand
Chicken Soup for The Soul: The Dating Game by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor HansenI remember Chicken Soup for the Soul Books being... more interesting then what I'm reading now? Maybe it's just the topic, or maybe I've just grown out of them.
"Death at the Bar' is a favourite of mine too, Sandy.I've just finished a load of easy reads none of which were notable and now am rereading 'The Riddle Master of Hed' a trilogy by
Patricia McKillip to see if it is as breathtaking as I remember.
Am annoyed that Good reads only has the American versions and titles for the trilogy as I have the original beautiful volumes with their original titles.
Riddle-Master
Just started 'Jewels of Paradise by Donna Leon. Brunetti again. The Jewels of Paradise
It's a music one and Leon is so knowledgeable it's a pleasure to learn from her.

I’m reading it - nearly halfway through - and really enjoying it. I quite like Scandinavian stories. Was skimming through this discussion seeing what people were reading, saw your post, thought the title sounded interesting, looked it up and got the book from my local library. So thanks : )
Listening to
A Rule Against Murder by Louise Penny and reading
The Fortunate Brother by Donna Morrissey
The WallElizabeth LutzeierFor some reason I thought I hadn't read this, but first pages in I definitely started to remember it.
How's the Sixteen trees gone down with you, Maria? I loved the complex plot and just wished the poor bloke had been told the truth early on. I enjoyed the Goldfinch too.
Found five of the prize list in the library this morning, all held for me!!! Am about to launch ingot 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine'

I really enjoyed The Sixteen Trees of the Somme Very well written. Such a sad history for the family - not just the tragic accident but the war dividing the brothers. I’m sure their decision not to tell Edvard was to protect him from crushing guilt. A good 5 star read.
Ah but there was a way to tell Edvard and not tell him it was his fault.Bloomin' humans and their belief that they know what's best for others.
