Updates and CHAT!

This one isn't so easy for me as I don't have enough time to keep up to date. What I propose, let me know what you think, is that any book bloggers out there amongst our members be encouraged to post threads with links to news articles on their blog. That way they get traffic to their blogs and our members get updated on news articles relevant to them.
You wanted more general chat and an easier way to find out what's new in the group
This is where this new thread comes in! When there are new things I'll update this thread but we can also use it as a place for general chat amongst ourselves.
So chat away, about anything you want!

Some of you responded to the poll that you wanted them. I love them too but they kind of rely on people getting together who want to read the same thing.
Put a post on the following thread about a book you want to buddy read and we can get a thread started...

It's 7.40pm here and I'm home alone!
Oh and, exciting news(!), I've borrowed a laptop for the weekend so I'm not cut off from the world and I can catch up on group updates!

Or, if you've already put a link in, before you post it says book with a string of numbers after it. If you just type 'cover' after 'book' that will work too.
Hope that makes sense :)

YAY!!!!

WOOHOO!!! Cograts!!! YAY!!!!

I created a book entry for a book I am beta reading. I entered title, author, and illustrator, but thankfully didn't included anything else. I thought the entry would only be visible by me. I only created it to track the books that I've read this year. However, the book that I created now shows up under the listing of books the author has written.
How do I delete the book or make it private? I'm still searching the site, but I'm panicking a little and would appreciate it if anyone can tell me what to do.
Thanks!
Juile

I think Goodreads has a help/support forum you could try.

If you search for a book, when the search comes back, there is a link to add a book manually over to the right of the screen. Just know that there is no way to make it private, so everyone can see it. There is no way to delete it either. If you put the author's name, it will show up under the list of books that author has written. Crazy, huh?

In one of the newsletters I promised I would update everyone on the actions taken following the poll on group improvements. Work, Christmas and a broken laptop have slowed me down but here we go...
You wanted more read to reviews!
Well, aside from over Christmas and the broken laptop debacle, the aim is to post 3 books a week. I hope that satisfies members appetites! I am also planning on doing ad hoc special events a couple of times a year if I can garner enough interest from authors :)
You wanted more challenges!
We have ongoing the Tag challenge and 5 letter word challenge and are planning on continuing the twice monthly alphabet and color challenges. You will have seen in December that we had 2 challenges for December that were fairly popular. The aim is to introduce a different challenge for each month with a new topic. This month, however, I have instead launched the two challenges that will last the whole of 2014 - the rainbow challenge...

and the full alphabet challenge...

I'd also like to start up a new regular challenge suggested by one of our members Brandi. That is where each month a different place in the world is chosen and participants have to choose a book that is either set there or is where the author is from. I'm thinking of calling it the "Around the World Challenge" - what do you think?
I'll get the thread set up for February I think. I won't bore you again with my laptop woes! :)
As always please keep suggestions for challenges coming in, I love challenges and they are one of the most popular features in the group!
