I really enjoyed that one, but it sounds like it's a bit of a drag for you Jackie?

Hiya Catherine,I do like it but I just think it's too long. The story so far doesn't seem to warrant the length of the book. I've broken the back of it now..just the last few hundred pages to go lol.
I started this morningThe Zookeeper's Wife: A War Storya non-fiction about a couple of zookeepers in Warsaw who saved hundreds of jews by hiding them in the empty cages of the animals.
I just started Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafón..am already a big fan of his writing but loving this one. Quite grizzly at times, especially for a YA book.
I really liked the first two. Just got to try and remember what happened in them now, was ages ago I read them lol.
Listening to Picnic at Hanging Rock. Half way through Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy, been moved to tears a couple of times. Reading and savouring. It is an absolute joy (of the sad/touching kind).
I am reading Shirley Conran's Lace *lowers tone*
You do realise this is your fault, Jo, you mentioned it to me in passing ages ago and now here I am! :-D

Yes, a mere £1. It is ideal Kindle reading; I remember its classic paperback cover and I think I might be a tad embarrassed to be caught with it on the Tube!

Have just started Poison Sarah Pinborough a different version of Snow White. Cant say I have the highest hopes but will be an easy read I'm sure
Read about half of "The Log Cabin or The World Before You." I'm really enjoying it. First published in 1844, it is a real Hallmark Channel kind of story.
Just finished A Brief History of Seven Killings, which is now one of my all-time favourite books, and started Things Fall Apart: A Novel Paperback
I'm getting stuck in to Full of Hope and Fear: The Great War Letters of an Oxford Family. These don't cover the familiar WWI topics that you might expect, the experiences are unusual (for example the father is actually out in India in 1916-17) and quite fascinating. Also reading Heretic for my series challenge
Just started Guards! Guards! which is very very funny so far, & Short Walks from Bogota: Journeys in the New Colombia.

Just started The Fault in Our Stars and will be starting The Uke of Wallington tonight. Then the mammoth task of The Luminaries!
I'm listening to Luminaries on audiobook on way to and from work. Its good so far. 2 hour journey thrice a week. Not sure how long it will take. Got it on borrowbox which is free from library.
Just started Explore Everything: Place-Hacking The City From Tunnels To Skyscrapers which is about place hacking or getting into places that you shouldn't. Looking forward to this one, as I have heard Bradley L. Garrett speak a few times on the radio about his nocturnal visits

I really like that one too. Also like the way the character of Vimes develops in subsequent books.
In my plan to re-read or give away the books I own, I'm having a short break from Terry Pratchett and have started The Once and Future King. I love this book and its definitely a keeper. It starts humorously during Arthur's childhood and gradually becomes more serious in tone as he faces all the challenges of uniting a disparate country.

I've got a lovely Folio Society edition which I've been meaning to read for years, but in the meantime I'm really enjoying it on the radio.

Well I beat my target of thinking it would be next year before I started this.....finally starting the discworld series and of course what better way to start than with the colour of magic :)

Half way through "American Pastoral", first book I've read Philip Roth. Amazing descriptions of people!
Currently reading The Bookshop Book, which is brilliant, and Principles of Angels, a sci fi book that ins't bad at all so far.
I am reading I Am Pilgrim which so far is amazing, whizzed through 200 pages in two days which is unheard of for me. I could have read it for hours last night, but the prospect of the early starts for school and work again was all that stopped me.
Also, listening to The Pure in Heart, second one in the Serrailler series which I started in the Series Challenge. Brilliantly read, so it's on full time whilst I get my chores done.

Am currently reading The Fight, which I am hoping will be an eye opener for me, not least because it's my first Norman Mailer read.
