Well done on this being the last in the square. I am also interested to know what you think about that book.

Thanks. So far it is quite quirky, Alex woods as a 10year old is pretty funny. Has a similar feel to the hundred yeard old man who climbed out the window

message 726: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 380 comments I really liked the Alex Woods book!

Today I'm going to start The White Princess by Philippa Gregory.

Started my next audiobook today, Any Human Heart by William Boyd. First half hour and I'm in. I think he is my new favourite author, I can't get enough. Astute, well drawn characters, not afraid to be a little bit rude in a suitable fashion. And a great story will follow I am sure. Plus lovely precise writing. Just sorry I only discovered him this year.

I almost picked up Ordinary Thunderstorms today, but I am well over my limit on my library card

message 732: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments That has made me feel cheerful Paul, that you are all maxed out on your card. It makes my heart sing that the library is appreciated so much.

We have two separate libraries near us, and maxed out on both. I don't even need my card in one library now, they look my record up as I walk in

message 736: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Haha, mine is all self service and the computer doesn't recognise me on sight yet.

message 737: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Thats fab Paul. We have a card swipe in machine thing - so librarians can't do that.

Reading Perdido Street Station at the moment. It is a great mix of fantasy, steampunk and horror. China Miéville is a hugely talented author

message 741: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 380 comments Finally will be starting And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini today. 5 starred his other books so looking forward to this one.

message 742: by Toyah (new)

Toyah (rockabillybibiliophile) | 275 comments I read The Book Thief a few years ago and loved it. I only hope the movie does it justice! :)

message 743: by Conny (new)

Conny Streff unfortunately films are rarely better than the books...or it might just be me preferring books over movies :)

message 744: by Toyah (new)

Toyah (rockabillybibiliophile) | 275 comments It's true, the movies are rarely as good as the books! The Great Gatsby was a good movie, but the book was far better! :)

message 745: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (bibliohound) | 359 comments Currently back reading my favourite genre, historical fiction Imperium and Heresy. Hoping to finish both before starting the September group reads on Monday.

I can't decide what to read next! TBR so long, so very very long. A magic square book I think, then back to series, so it's between Lucky Jim (on shelf for 10 years), The Cuckoo's Calling (author shares your name) or The Hunger Games
