For my fiction book starting Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews, graphic novel The Shadow Hero, nonfiction How Reading Changed my Life by Anna Quindlen, and for the anthology 'Many Bloody Returns.'
I'm now reading Manhunt The 12 Day Chase for Abraham Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson. I'm only a little way in but so far so good!
Just going to start Three Ways to Capsize a Boat: An Optimist Afloat. I really enjoyed his previous books.
I started yesterday One Breath Away by Heather Gudenkauf, and I'm trying to resume Pride and Prejudice.
I listened on audiobook to Down and out... Paul. I loved it. Parts of it are very relevant today too.
Just finished no fixed abode, very much inspired by Down and out. Next up reading a book of poetry by Charles Bukowski.
Yesterday I started two books. Unbroken is my reading book and Defending Jacob is my audiobook. Love both so far.
Just started Close Call It will be 'genre I usually avoid' (espionage thriller) for the magic square.
Have weeks holiday, and have picked 9 to read:
The Well of Lost Plots
419
Hyperion
The Signal and the Noise: The Art and Science of Prediction
The Snow Geese
Racers
Murray Walker: Unless I'm Very Much Mistaken
Formula One Uncovered
Nigel Mansell — My Autobiography
Here we go!

I'll start today The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. I have been looking for this one for a long time.

Well done on this being the last in the square. I am also interested to know what you think about that book.

Thanks. So far it is quite quirky, Alex woods as a 10year old is pretty funny. Has a similar feel to the hundred yeard old man who climbed out the window
Started Under Another Sky: Journeys in Roman Britain today. The author is travelling around the UK in a camper visiting significant and noted Roman sites.
StartingThe Mystery of Mrs Blencarrow & Queen Eleanor and Fair Rosamond which is a volume of two novellas published by Persephone Books and written in the late 1880's.
Started my next audiobook today, Any Human Heart by William Boyd. First half hour and I'm in. I think he is my new favourite author, I can't get enough. Astute, well drawn characters, not afraid to be a little bit rude in a suitable fashion. And a great story will follow I am sure. Plus lovely precise writing. Just sorry I only discovered him this year.
Currently reading The Help which is excellent and I am trying to slow it down as I am enjoying so much!
That has made me feel cheerful Paul, that you are all maxed out on your card. It makes my heart sing that the library is appreciated so much.
Oops, hit "done" by mistake! I was going to say..good book that is, Gail!I'm reading Kiss Me First by Lottie Moggach which I'm liking so far.
We have two separate libraries near us, and maxed out on both. I don't even need my card in one library now, they look my record up as I walk in
ConnyI read The Book Thief at the start of the year and it still remains my favourite book of 2014 so far.
Reading Perdido Street Station at the moment. It is a great mix of fantasy, steampunk and horror. China Miéville is a hugely talented author
Finally will be starting And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini today. 5 starred his other books so looking forward to this one.
unfortunately films are rarely better than the books...or it might just be me preferring books over movies :)
It's true, the movies are rarely as good as the books! The Great Gatsby was a good movie, but the book was far better! :)
Currently back reading my favourite genre, historical fiction Imperium and Heresy. Hoping to finish both before starting the September group reads on Monday.
I can't decide what to read next! TBR so long, so very very long. A magic square book I think, then back to series, so it's between Lucky Jim (on shelf for 10 years), The Cuckoo's Calling (author shares your name) or The Hunger Games
Paul wrote: "I have got 17 books to read in September!"What you gonna do for the last 3 weeks of September?

What you gonna do for the last 3 weeks of September?"
Not even I read that quickly!
