What are you reading in 2014?
Sandy wrote: "I'm reading Fight Club. It's crazy and strange and I'm liking it more than I thought I would."Brilliant book. Chuck's books are pretty insane.

Just started Breadboy: Teenage Kicks and Tatey Bread- What Paperboy Did Next by tony Macauley...funny look back on growing up in late 70s Belfast...making me awful hungry for a fry up!
Reading The Shock of the Fall. Reminds me a little of The Silver Linings Playbook, which I didn't think much of.
Getting back into I Can Make You Hate by Charlie Brooker...very funny short topical pieces from 2010/2011.
Starting Bright Young Things by Scarlett Thomas. Was really impressed by The End of Mr. Y and PopCo. I have great expectations.
Now listening to Our Man in Havana. Great start, really keen to crack on.
Debbie I have BYT on my Kindle, so interested to know what you think. Not read the others.

Our Man in Havana is one of my favourite of Graham Green's books. Once I've finished my challenges, I might reward myself with a Graham Greene fest before I do another one! I'll be interested to know what you think of it Jo.

Making my way through the Dresden Files at the moment. Finished Grave Peril , starting Summer Knight next. Also got Insomnia , Equal Rites and a few other books on the go.
Ah, interesting, Sandra. A friend whose judgement I trust really recommended that, so I picked it up cheap on Kindle recently. Why don't you like it?
I can't wait any longer and am starting the Game of Thrones series. See what all this fuss is about ;)
Starting 'Still Alice' by Lisa Genova today, which is my 'author who shares your name' square on the challenge. :)
Jackie wrote: "Starting Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro."Reviews have been pretty mixed on this one. Personally, i enjoyed it although others would argue that its characters were too bland or shallow for enjoyment.
Lisa wrote: "Ah, interesting, Sandra. A friend whose judgement I trust really recommended that, so I picked it up cheap on Kindle recently. Why don't you like it?"Hi Lisa,
I'm 75% into it by now and I have to say that it has gotten a little better in the second half, but it is not what I was expecting at all.
It seems that all the most miserable, sad, unhappy, gloomy and depressed people has been put together in the same town and in the same novel... Everybody looks absolutely incapable of handle grief, sorrow, lost, aging... I'd prefer to think that we human being are able to learn something during our life. Am I too optimistic? :)
I'm finishing it anyway since it is for my book club, and I think it will do a great discussion.
I just finished The Foundation Trilogy as well as Foundation and Empire Foundation and Earth. I'm collecting the books to read the entire Foundation Universe. Just started The Rest of the Robots.
I've just started rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch and although I'm only a couple of chapters in I think I'm going to love this series!

Really enjoyed that one Jennifer. He is coming to a literature festival in my home town so aiming to meet him.

Have been reading Americanah for a couple of days, but last night lifted the wrong kindle on going out of the hotel room down to a comfy area for a cuppa and a read (not so easy waiting for your toddler to fall asleep whilst sitting not bathroom floor!). So I started Twelve Years a Slave..in fact a rather interesting read alongside Americanah, with the discussions on race and class so prevalent. Also have been reading Angela's Ashes...another interesting comparison of how another immigrant group were perceived and treated in America.

I read it on a ferry journey in a couple of hours

Currently reading The Feast of the Goat and started listening to The Thing Around Your Neck. I liked the first story of The Thing Around Your Neck and hope the rest will also be good.

Danielle, I am interested to know what you think of The Feast of the Goat. I had it out from the library a little while back, but had to return it before I could read it. It sounds brilliant, but sadly I haven't been able to find out for myself yet.

I let you know, Jo. And will post a link to my review. It's not an easy book due to the several story lines, but it is interesting. It's a book you need to take your time for.
Still going on the Dresden series. On Blood Rites (book 6). Having a lot of fun with this series. Still battling through The Coming of the Third Reich. It's an interesting book, but man is it heavy.
Read No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre. Recommended by my sister. I thought why not. I recently read a book about existentialism so it made sense to read that play.
Just finished Zoo City by Lauren Beukes. It was a surreal urban fantasy. Not bad. And my 100th book this year

Started Life of a Chalkstream today as there is a reservation for it. Enjoying it so far. Half way through A Scanner Darkly which is surreal in parts.
Just started Bad Science and Red Sky at Sunrise: Cider with Rosie; As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning; A Moment of War in an attempt to keep me away from a Game of Thrones marathon session. Wish me luck, because my eyes keep drifting to that boxset of GOT on my shelf.
Reading 'The Invasion' of 'Animorphs' series.
I know this is a childish read. But the thing is I read 6 or 7 translated books of this series when I was young. Back in that days I was dying to know what happened to these characters at the end and now I'm gonna read all of them as I've got the chance.
