http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Villa-Ita...Just finished Villa in Italy which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. It's currently free on Amazon, and well worth the download.
I found it to be one of those books which draw me in slowly and it has kept me up into the early hours twice this week, just so I could carry on reading.
Frenchie, I used to be like that, straight through before I began another book. And it was hard to not finish a book, even if I didn't like it. These days I often have 2-3 books on the go at the same time, depending on the mood I'm in or the mood I want to create (particularly at bedtime) but the drawback is, if I skip around too much, some books never get finished. So I wish I could get back to my old, book-dedicated ways.Me, I like bios if they are well written and not an exercise in blaming or seeking for external validation.
Finished
. Imperfect Strangers by David Staniforth and I really enjoyed it. Also finished
. Wounded Souls by Robert Francis Turley. Now reading
. Poppet by Mo Hayder
Linda wrote: "Finished

Linda, this is one of Davids if you haven't read it, and it's quite good, also freehttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuel-Fire-Dav...
It's not something I tend to read as a rule but I enjoyed it, and will be downloading the second one as soon as I allow myself to buy again.
Oops, I thought I'd told you I liked it, sorry. It is a good book though and once I got into it, I was sad to see the end. I'll probably start buying again next week, so I'll be downloading the second one then. My non buy policy has lasted over two weeks this time :-))
Thanks Suze. I finished
. Poppet by Mo Hayder which was great. Never disappointed by this author :-)I also finished
. FAG by Jonathan Hill. This story will stay with me for a long time. Not a gentle easy read but definitely a book to check out.I have started
. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
I have started Money and Law Of Attraction. I just finished The Seven Spiritual Laws by Deepak Chopra.
Currently reading Scars by C. Michael Lorion and Confessions of an English Opium Eater by Thomas de Quincey
I'm up to my old tricks of reading more than one book at a time. Reading and enjoying Climbing the Mango Trees: A Memoir of a Childhood in India and Hello, Gorgeous: Becoming Barbra Streisand. I had been reading Dean and Me: A Love Story but got tired of Lewis' constant criticism of others dressed up as affection.
I've just posted my review for 'Last and First Men' by Olaf Stapledon and it's a stunning, if flawed, sci-fi classic:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now on Rosen Trevithick's 'Monster Avengers'.
Finished
. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn which was excellent.Started
. Cruel Deception by Gregg Olsen
I've posted my review for 'Monster Avengers' by Rosen Trevithick and 300 monstrously talented children and it's a monstrously fun read :-)

I'm now onto 'Voyeurs of Death' by Shaun Jeffrey - the first story was excellent.
Just finished Brandon Sanderson The Well of Ascension, Mistborn series book 2. Now starting The way of Kings Part two, also by Brandon Sanderson.
I am currently reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. Its one of my favorite books so I like to re read it often.
I've recently discovered Jodi Taylor's St Mary's stories and I've now read all of them and have just started re-reading the first one "Just One Damn Thing After Another".These books are enormous fun, lots of humour and action, a great heroine and some good solid historical research underneath all the time travelling fun.
Most enjoyable.

Something about the style says it wouldn't surprise me if he had.
A double dip of reviews today, the first is an interesting short story called 'The Face of God' by Christopher Owen:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
The second is a superb collection of horror short stories called 'Voyeurs of Death' by Shaun Jeffrey:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto Acid Sky by Mark Anson.
I prefer The Butterfly Kid, but then I did the first time I read them. However this one is good enough to read.
I've posted my review for Mark Anson's fascinating science fiction novel 'Acid Sky':
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto '100 Nightmares' by K.Z. Morano and if you like dark drabbles and short fiction (and I do!) this should be on your TBR list.
Just finished Thirty-Three Teeth and posted a review. I wonder how many readers stopped and counted their own teeth?
I've posted my review for K.Z. Morano's superb collection of horror drabbles '100 Nightmares':

. Itsy Bitsy Spider by Willow Rose. Ok!
Started reading
. Miss Polly Had a Dolly by Willow Rose.
I've posted my review for Jason Jack Miller's excellent 'The Devil and Preston Black', it's a wonderful read and you can see what I thought of it here:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto Fag by Jonathan Hill and it's powerful stuff so far.
I have posted my review for Jonathan Hill's superbly written and emotive debut novel 'FAG':
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto a bit of sci-fi with 'Ship of Storms' by Ken Doggett.
I picked up Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated yesterday and can't put it down. I wanted to read in bed last night but my snickers and snorts kept waking DH up. Aside from being hysterically funny about her time on Little House, I am grateful for this book because I had a huge, much-needed breakthrough. Ms Arngrim mentions something I never knew, and was never told, and hit me like a tonne of bricks: Until the mid-seventies, incest, sexual molestation of minors and child rape were freaking misdemeanors in most of the US. Teachers were told not to get involved if they realised something was wrong. About the worst penalty for sexual abuse was 30 days in the local slammer--and that's if anything at all was done. It wasn't supposed to happen, so technically, it never happened. As she says, it's like little kids weren't human beings.Hell.
That explains a lot.
I found something more cheerful! (thanks to the people who sent recommendations....) and am now reading Baking Cakes in Kigali. More when I've finished it!
T4bsF wrote: "Currently reading
FAG by Jonathan Hill"I enjoyed that. Not my usual type of read at all.
I've just finished reading 'Ship of Storms' by Ken Dogget. It has some good ideas, but doesn't fully follow them through. STill an okay read though:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto 'Necropolis' by Guy Portman which I'm enjoying so far.
Hi Suze, Yes, I am enjoying it although I am struggling a little bit with the tone occasionally. I'll post a review once I've finished but it's definitely worth it at 99p!
Have a great weekend,
Nabse B
