It's my first Patrick Ness book. I'm 10% in and I'm intrigued for sure and the narration by Jamie Glover is pretty good.

and this one is although the technology is a bit dated. Dial up internet and what not. Should say Preston and Child. I always want to call them Lincoln and Child. Oh well everyone knows who I speak of anyway.
Now that BINGO is done I can get on to reading The Hot Rock for the Olympics and move ahead with my chunkster.
I was reading The Sunne in Splendour - A Novel of Richard III for the Chunkster challenge before the toppler started but I put it aside to concentrate on the toppler. Now that the toppler is done, I am picking up where I left off.
I am back to my pre-toppler reads, that is The Aviator's Wife in audio. That is almost done, not sure what will be next.I am back to my chunster: Rouge de Paris and The Redbreast, last of my slugs.
I will also start The Almond Tree that bith Marie Claude and I won in a giveaway and will buddy read.
I just got notice that the 3rd iron duid chronicle is available for download... Do you Think I can wait?

This is my review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/841920972"Dem - nice review. It's been on my Kindle for awhile - need to move it up my reading list.
I've started a new one for my chunkster - The Final Empire and I am devouring it. I thought I might need a break after Bingo but if anything it's made me want to read more.
I'm reading The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy. That last Hardy I read was in school, when we had to study Under the Greenwood Tree for GCSE. I hated it. Actually, thinking about I probably hated the English teacher more, so was destined to hate pretty much everything we did. 25 years later I'm finally plucking up the courage to revisit him. It's not easy going, some of the sentences need to be read 3 or 4 times to make sense of them, but it's not as bad as I had imagined...

In one of these threads there was some discussion about The Giver. I had ever read it before so I did a couple of days ago. Quite thought provoking . Enjoyed it.

Started Object Lessons: The Paris Review Presents the Art of the Short Story - an anthology of short stories.
Janice - I did, I borrowed it from the library - and there was a massive flaw at the end of disc 1. Lost about 20% of the disc - which didn't bode well for following the story. What I should have done was keep the CDs and borrow the book, reading the bit I couldn't listen to. But I didn't think of that until a little too late...
No Clym yet, he's been mentioned, but not made an appearance. I'm at chapter 5, just had the saga of the failed attempt to get married.

Just this evening I started this month's group read City of Thieves in addition to my Chunkster #2 The Luminaries which I'm finding to be a very slow (and dare i say, somewhat sluggish) read for such a behemoth...
I've started Under the Wide and Starry Sky. I'm going to combine this with The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for a chunkster read. ( Yes, I have changed my list again).
I am starting One Hundred Years of Solitude for my Chunkster challenge and listening to 1984 just because. (I am giving Simon Prebble some "air time". I have never listened to anything narrated by him and I keep seeing people in the Audible group say that they like him better than Simon Vance. I have only listened to Simon Vance narrate one book, but I loved it - and his voices.)
I have started Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman as audio but switch back and forth with the ebook. This is for the chunkster challenge.
Sarah wrote: "It's my first Patrick Ness book. I'm 10% in and I'm intrigued for sure and the narration by Jamie Glover is pretty good."I won this in hardcover from First Reads, I have to read it as well!
I just finished The Shining Girls yesterday, and started Intensity by Koontz last night. I think I will also begin The Crane Wife soon.
I have just finished Dance of Shadows for the Olympic challenge. I didn't really like it all and gave it 2 stars. So far, it is my least favourite book of 2014.
Started Horns not too far in but at this point a contender for best read of 2014. Hope it stays this good
I'm reading Just Kids and it is absolutely brilliant so far. Such a touching and honest memoir, I'm only a third of the way through and it's had me in tears.
I just started Blood Song by Anthony Ryan a few days ago in an effort to get Mickey's Marchers done! Now I need one more door stopper to get that section done.
I'm listening to The Daughter of Time, narrated by Derek Jacobi. He's doing the female voices of the female characters with some spirit and gusto. It's great fun to listen to.

I have not listened to anything narrated by Derek Jacobi yet - only because I have not listened to a whole lot of audio books YET. :0)
Travis of NNY wrote: "Started Horns not too far in but at this point a contender for best read of 2014. Hope it stays this good"I loved that book Travis - I'm reading NOS4A2 at the moment and I'm a huge fan of his imagination - scary yet fun place!
Kat wrote: "Travis of NNY wrote: "Started Horns not too far in but at this point a contender for best read of 2014. Since he is Stephen Kings son it just seems normal he would have such disturbing ideas to put on paper. I gave it 4 stars
Travis of NNY wrote: "Started Horns not too far in but at this point a contender for best read of 2014. Hope it stays this good"Oooooo - that sounds promising! Excited!

WOW, that's quite a list, Almeta... way to go!!!
That is quite a list, Almeta. Did you like Aunt Dimity and the Duke? I read that when it first came out, and I loved it, but I don't know how well it would age. (I would still like it, but someone coming on it for the first time in 2014 might find it very strange.
I finished Ghost Road Blues today and was a bit underwhelmed. Next up is Storm Front. I'm about an hour in and not impressed with the background sounds of lip smacking, swallowing and heavy sighing.

Really? Are you listening to the James Masters version? I didn't listen to the first one, but have listened to the second and half of the third and while there are a few moments in those, it's not terrible.
Just Kids was excellent - best book I've read so far this year and the best memoir I've ever read. High praise! At long last, I'm currently reading Norwegian Wood.
I finished The Sunne in Splendour - A Novel of Richard III for the Chunkster challenge. Not only is the best book I have read so far this year, it is also one of the best books I have ever read. I loved it! 5 stars all round.I really wanted to read a fantasy next and couldn't choose between several so I turned to the fruit machine and it picked out The Emperor's Blades so I am now making a start on that.

I wouldn't mind James Masters sighing heavily in my ear! ;-)
I hope it gets better for you Janice. I really need to read my copy of Storm Front.
I'm still reading The Lies of Locke Lamora which I'm really enjoying and The Crane Wife which one minute I love and the next minute it's annoying me. I'm going to start the group read The Round House today.
