lol!
But I didn't realize you weren't finished listing. Want me to delete my comment so it's not in the way?
Can I just say that it makes my reader's heart happy the Dresden is at the top of your list! :)I may have to stay away from your thread though... Having a bad case of "The Wants!" LOL
I've been meaning to read the Patricia Briggs series for a while now.

It makes my heart happy, too! And you should read Briggs. If you read Dresden, you should read Briggs. They're the two heavy hitters of the UF world!
Oh my gosh Nyssa - you MUST read Briggs. It's worth spending a credit on ... or starting tonight for no penalty. Not that I would ever do such a thing...

But true.
Just finished the most recent piece in Carrie Vaughn's Golden Age series. I think it's the book she's been spending her whole career learning how to write. If you are at all interested in superhero stories, give this series a try! That puts me up to 3 series completed forever or for now ;)
How did I end up starting a new series?!
No Place Like OzI'd give it a 3.5, obviously just laying the groundwork for the upcoming
Dorothy Must Die which I'm now very curious to read!
I completed "forever or for now" three series and have started two. I'm enjoying the balance the challenge is giving me, immensely so. I find myself sitting in front of my bookshelf pondering my options, or scrolling through this thread. It's like picking out which vacation to take every few days. Thanks Chris!
Welcome, Laurel. Though it's been a real group effort.I am glad you're enjoying it and that it's working for you....
Does anyone else remember Pinky and the Brain? I sometimes find myself sitting in the sunroom aka library, staring at my books, wanting to say to my dogs "are you pondering what I'm pondering?" They twist and cock their heads at me, Briar twitching her eyebrows up and down, reminding me of Pinky. It allows me to believe I'm achieving my dastardly plan to take over my tbr pile ;)

I know I have an unhealthy crush on Comic writer Ed Brubaker for his work, but DAMN
is a helluva way to end a series! If you like graphic novels and haven't given this series a go, I cannot recommend it highly enough! Crime noir (with epic character development) at its finest!
I read
X-Men: Battle of the Atom today, and quite enjoyed it. I thought it was a standalone stories within a number of ongoing comics, but it's listed as a #1. I'll count it as a new series for now and watch to see if there is a second book. I must say, I'm curious. I usually read Image, Vertigo or independent titles. But this was a nice trip back to my university days as a die hard X-Men fan :)
If there is any justice in this world, I will get a third Velveteen Vs. book in my lifetime! If I'm truly blessed I'll get four or five!Loved
. McGuire just grows and grows.
Speaking of bunny ears...I wore a new shirt today that has clock design on it, and a work-friend said it made her think of the Mad Hatter, which she amended to the White Rabbit, since he's the one with the watch.
And I joked that I should get a pair of bunny ears and wear them with this shirt next time and see if anyone gets it...

I think you should...
...and everyone who does not notice the ears should be put on notice, lol.
Mrs. J,This is the synopsis for the first Velveteen book. She wears bunny ears as part of her costume because her super power is animating toys...
Velveteen: How dare you? I never asked for you to hunt me down!
No, Velma Martinez hadn't. But when you had once been Velveteen, child super-heroine and one of The Junior Super Patriots, West Coast Division, you were never going to be free, even if your only power was to bring toys to life. The Marketing Department would be sure of that.
So it all came down to this. One young woman and an army of misfit toys vs. the assembled might of the nine members of The Junior Super Patriots, West Coast Division who had come to take her down.
They never had a chance.
Velveteen lives in a world of super-heroes and magic, where men can fly and where young girls can be abducted to the Autumn Land to save Halloween. Velma lives from paycheck to paycheck and copes with her broken-down car as she tries to escape from her old life.
It's all the same world. It's all real. And figuring out how to be both Velveteen and Velma is the biggest challenge of her life, because being super-human means you’re still human in the end.
Join us as award-winning author Seanan McGuire takes us through the first volume of Velveteen's — and Velma's — adventure
That sounds good! But I could barely get into the other series...I should add that one to my list - I got through about 1/3 of it. Crypid, I think it's called? But I love the author cause of what she said about rape. She has my vote.
The Velveteen short stories actually go together to make the first book. It is one cohesive tale. The second book is even more of a plot driven, cohesive story. I just love it to pieces! If you're talking about McGuire's InCryptid series, that's a hoot as well :)
So thus far I've cleaned up 6 series and started 4 new. Not the greatest track record. However, I'm loving the focus and clarity the challenge is giving me. I think its also allowing me to revisit a few genres I had strayed away from for a while. However, the absolute best part about the entire venture has been talking to some new book friends. Always the best part about Goodreads, even though it is murder on my tbr. Paul, I'm looking at you! Between you and Ala this will be my best sci fi year to date!
